1. CM Punk: The guy was born to cut promo, granted at times he can do the cheesy ones but still people pay to see him cut promo and hang on to every word he says.

2. Chris Jericho: Much like punk people hang on to every word he says, he can cut promos as a heel or face it just does not matter you know its gonna be good.

3. Christian: Christian has always been underrated at everything, his promos are really great if you listen to the promo itself not the crowd reactions, a serious promos or Comedy always entertaining.

4. Dolph Ziggler: Dolph has really stepped up his game from being that guy who just went around and introduced him self to be a guy a couple of years later and went toe for toe with punk and at times was more entertaining then him.

5. John Cena: The few times he cuts the cheesy lines and goofy smile out and cuts a legit serious promo, it is seriously awesome stuff by him.

For Raw, it HAS to be Miz, hands down. I love hearing him on the mic, it's almost as if he has had 10 years of real hollywood acting skills. He knows exactly how to make use of his hand and body language to match his facial expressions and tone of his voice.

For SD, I really like Mark Henry. He plays himself when he is talking and when a wrestler can be themselves, it allways works best. I hope he goes to commentary after he is finished with wrestling. Cody would be my favorite B/C when he is being himself, it comes across authentic. He can be ammazingly scarcastic and funny at moments when he is playing himself, but most of the time they make him play into a character that no where resembles himself. He really shines when he gets to do mic work like he did this past SD against the Big Show in the opening seg. Although he came out with that standard monotone voice they force him to do.

I like to listen to R-Truth, Miz, and Punk all even Christian. I believe those are the top guys. Could care less what Orton, Cena, Big Show, Henry or whoever else says.

There are plenty of honorable mentions that could be said, but the two best mic workers are CM Punk and Chris Jericho. Punk because of how natural he comes off and Jericho for his uncanny ability to suck the crowd into the palm of his hand

Anyone else I could mention may be great, but have glaring weaknesses that hold them back. Triple H may be good, but guaranteed Punk and Jericho could open a show to talk about their feelings for 15 minutes and actually make it entertaining, sometimes I feel Triple H can't sustain the audience's attention for long durations. Orton showed me how good he is on the mic in his early, cocky heel run, but for as long as he is The Viper there will only be scant occassions where he can have an entertaining verbal segment. Similar deal with Cena, he plays the mic so much better when he's a little more somber and serious.

The Miz is someone I described one of the best "heel heat gainers" in WWE and I stand by that, but he's stopped evolving since he won the WWE Title and you can just about predict anything he's going to say. Daniel Bryan and Sheamus are surprisingly natural and comfortable, but Sheamus does not command enough attention and Bryan has yet to really hit the mark with a promo, even though he's had some great ones. Similar deal with Wade Barrett, someone who is a VERY smooth talker but has yet to, as Stone Cold put it, clutch the world by the throat and tell us who Wade Barrett is.

So on and so on.

My point is that CM Punk and Chris Jericho are the two that I believe are the best mic workers in the WWE. While I do like pretty much all the people I brought up, Punk and Jericho are the only two people who when they grab the mic, I'm guarenteed to enjoy what they have to say, without fail. I can't say that for anyone else, personally.

Triple H. No one in the WWE comes across as real as he does. He has a very genuine, sincere connection with the crowd and viewers and he never even seems like he's trying hard. No matter if he's a heel or a face, you always assume that's how he really is.

Though I appreciate Punk and Miz's mic abilities and they are very entertaining, I am fully aware I am watching wrestling during their promos. I would actually put Miz over Punk a little because Miz just looks like he's enjoying himself a little more and feels more natural than Punk. Punk speaks very well, but his promos tend to sound very scripted at times. I can always tell he's thought about what he's going to say a long time because everything he says reaks of artistic expression.

If anything I think what you said would be more fitting the other way around with Punk and Miz esp given Punk adlibs a lot and Miz more so comes off scripted esp lately. Miz is a great mic worker but he's never really said anything unpredictable or said something that came off as unscripted.

They both seem scripted, but no one speaks like Punk irl. I don't think his adlibs effectively make his promos more realistic either. It's one thing to be witty, but completely different to be convincing. Punk is not convincing to me, sorry.

I have less of a problem with a mic worker fumbling at times the way Miz does rather than someone like Punk basically holding a sign that says "Wrestling is FAKE". Sometime he even reminds me of the terrible actors on Springer and Steve Wilkos that try so hard to seem real that they actually counteract their efforts.

Punk is still an excellent mic worker though, not trying to knock him. It's just a little hard for me to suspend disbelief with him at times.

Don't really get your outlook on Punk as I've never seen a single thing he's done esp since last summer that he says that screams wrestling is fake. Would have made more sense to claim that when he was doing the S.E.S stuff but now not really. Could see if it his material was based on speaking as a pure wrestling gimmick like Taker or someone like that but if you've heard him talk outside the ring you'd see he is pretty much the same guy you see on T.V. His material is based on being a smart ass who thinks what he says can make a difference nothing really unreal about that.

I never said he was doing anything wrong, he's just not very real to me. If he really acts like that in person, that's pretty unfortunate. It's one thing to be sarcastic, but no one is always trying to make a point every time they open their mouths. Punk is. It's like, "Yeah I get it, you're straight edge, you're the BEST IN WORLD", that's seriously ALL he says, and frankly I just don't care anymore. He comes across as a fictional character every bit as much as Taker does to me. Taker is an excellent mic worker too, and the only time he ever pissed me off was when he rode a motorcycle and tried too hard to be real.

I don't even care if the character itself is realistic or not, but fuck... it should be about making a unique character work. If it's a little like your own personality, then fine, it would almost have to be in order to perpetuate it every day of your life damn nearly. But I see nothing extraordinary about not acting at all, just being a "regular guy", and just speaking as the proud owner of a thesaurus.
