While I vehemently disagree with Russo's position on the matter, I don't care that much as the vast majority of the religious world believe pretty much the exact same thing. It also wasn't wrestling related and that was his problem with wrestling pundits covering the story.

Obviously anyone can report anything he says, but it boils down to "Did you guys know he was a Christian?" As for criticism, sure, everyone is free to, but it won't get anyone anywhere. Religious types rarely see past their scripture and go "you were totally right there."
