WWF In Your House 11 “Buried Alive”
October 26th 1996
Indianapolis, Indiana

The PPV opens with Vince, Lawler and JR introducing up to the show and both Lawler and Vince have mic’s but JR doesn’t and he looks pissed, well I think he does.

During Hunter’s entrance Vince lets us know that during the free for all, Faarooq was injured during a fight in the back with Ahmed Johnson, so Goldust will replace him to challenge Mero for the IC Title. Not even 4 minutes in and Vince is screwing over the black wrestlers, what a guy.

We then cut to Kevin Kelly interview Austin; he says Savio Vega is faking injury to get out of facing him tonight. He gives Hunter all the credit in the world for being man enough to step in the ring with him, unlike Bret Hart. And tomorrow night when Bret does return he hopes chooses to retire, because if he doesn’t when he gets in the ring with him, he'll make him retire.

Steve Austin vs. Hunter Hearst Helmsley
I should mention JR’s mic throughout the match keeps cutting out so that’s annoying. Lol @ both Austin and Hunter stalling by making fun of two fat chicks in the front row, they do some real solid chain counter wrestling on the part of Austin but elbow hits him with an elbow to break that up. Hunter now gets the better when chain wrestling but Austin tries to elbow him but Hunter ducks but Austin catches him with a right hand instead. More stalling but at least when they do get back into the ring and lock up they quicken the pace just for a bit until Austin begins to work the arm with a wrist lock before attempting to rip the arm out of the socket. Hunter breaks it by poking him in the eye but Austin goes back to the arm, but Hunter is like fuck this and both men just exchanging right hands. Hunter is completely no selling the arm that bastard. Hunter now targets the head after dropping the Harley Race knee and applying a sleeper he does manage to reverse it into his own as does Hunter but Austin breaks it with a chin breaker and drops him throat first on the top rope followed by and middle rope forearm drop for two. Hunter hits a high knee, followed by a middle rope fist drop for two. Double clothesline knocks both men out until Mr Perfect comes out and begins to hit on Hunters Ring valet, Hunter tries to stop it but Austin hits him from behind and throws him into the steel post. Austin and Perfect now have a few words, but as Austin goes back into the ring Perfect pulls him down and they have a few more words with one another. Austin backs off so Perfect decides to leave but as soon as he does Austin picks up a cup of water and throws it in his face. Perfect is pissed, so Austin runs back into the ring allowing Hunter to attack him from behind. He goes for the Pedigree but he doesn’t he see Perfect and the valet walking away so he breaks the hold and chases after him YOU IDIOT! Austin chases him from behind but Hunter manages to suplexs him on the concrete floor, he then attempts the Pedigree on the floor but instead Austin catapults him into the steel post. Back in the ring, and Austin hits the Stunner for the win. This was like 15 minutes of gear one, all technically sound in terms of moves but nothing else. ** 1/4- **1/2

We get video highlights of Billy and Bart Gunn and the Sunny issues; apparently Billy was in love with Sunny and wasn’t focused on the titles so they lost the belts to Owen & Bulldogg. After the match, she fired both guys as her clients.

Backstage: Billy says once they win, Sunny will come back, but Bart says to forget about her and focus on them winning the belts.

WWF Tag Team Championship: The Smoking Gunns vs. Owen Hart & The British Bulldog (w/ Clarence Mason)
Oh goodie JR’s mic is still fucked up, Billy and Owen start with Bully using his power to get the better but he also uses his hair to maintain the advantage. I just realized for two matches in a row it’s been heel vs. heel. Bulldog and Owen do 3 real nice double teams allowing them to take over, until Bart kills Davey with a clothesline but that doesn’t last long cause as soon as Bart tags in Davey locks in a side headlock followed by some shoulderblocks but scoopslam by Bart gets two, a crossbody misses and Bulldog tags in Owen who works the back a bit before tagging in Bulldog that uses power moves with hard whips to the corners. Owen locks in a sleeper but Bart manages to break it but Owen has the ref distracted and Billy is also distracted cause Bulldog is flexing at him :lmao anyway, Bart breaks the hold and charging into the ropes but he doesn’t see Billy and knocks him down :lmao that allows Owen to schoolboy him for two. Bart now distracts the ref allowing Billy to cheap shot Owen. It’s now time for the Gunns heat segment, which was good now on the level of Owen and Davey but still solid. They did a great job of cutting the ring in half. At one point Bart has Owen up in a side walk slam position but Davey is right behind Bart so when Billy does come down with the leg drop Davey pulls him away so he misses. That allows Owen to hit Billy with the side spin kick for the win. Another solid match, but it never left first gear. But I guess heel vs. heel matches don’t require fan participation. **1/4 - **1/2

JR throws down his headset and goes into the ring, and he’s pissed he claims Vince got his butt kisses to turn off his mic so he can’t be heard on TV. JR says he’s not gonna bore them by telling them that Vince already fired him twice and tried to ruin his life. Us he’s gonna tell them that tomorrow night on Raw Bret will be here, and it’s not because Vince went to South Africa to talk to him it’s because he went to South Africa. RIGHT OR WRONG! THAT’S A YES OR NO! The issue is that Bret has a lot to say and he’s gonna come back with a shovel cause he’s gonna bury a lot of people :lmao He’s got a lot to say, tomorrow night Bret will be uncensored. JR then says seeing how the egotistical maniac that owns the company has screwed up all the microphones and talks out of both sides of his holes anyway, he needs two mics so he can take this one cause he’ll see him tomorrow night on Raw and JR throws down the mic and leaves :lmao good shit.

Mr. Perfect comes out to do commentary :mark:

WWF Intercontinental Championship: Marc Mero (w/Sable) vs. Goldust (w/Marlena)
Lawler trolls Marc during pre-match interview, but Perfect makes fun of Lawler for never winning gold in the WWF. Goldust’s top half white and lower half gold attire is AWESOME! This was mostly fun due to Goldust’s awesome bumping and control. But the majority of this was back and forth both men hitting big moves and not really working a body part. At one point in the match Goldust takes his head off with a sweet clothesline and gets on the mic. He tells everyone to shut the hell up, and if they don’t shut up right now he’ll come out personally and stick his tongue down each of their throats :lmao Mero comes back with a double jump moonsault body block, but Goldust throws him to the floor. Mr. Perfect leaves the announce position, so Hunter Hearst Helmsley comes out to argue with him for a bit. Goldust tries to interfere and takes a shot from Perfect. Back in, Mero hits a Samoan Drop that sets up the Wild Thing (Shooting Star Press) for the win. Best match of the night so far. **1/2

#1 Contender's Match For The WWF Championship: Sycho Sid vs. Vader (w/Jim Cornette)
Winner gets Shawn Michael's at Survivor Series, hoping both men beat the living shit out of each other well I know Vader will but Sid I doubt it. Sid’s pop was AWESOME! Man that guy was over. Shawn Michael's comes out to do commentary, well this should be fun. I hope he’s coked up ‘cause a sober Shawn is terrible. But first he gets into the ring and shakes Sids hands before going and talks shit to Vader, he then pulls Cornette’s hanky out from his pocket and blows his nose which pisses Vader off so he charges at him by Shawn ducks and he hits Sid. But Sid shrigs it off, Sid’s punches are the WOAT but he does hit a nice leg drop for two. 5 corner punches cause he can’t count to 10 :lmao but Vader comes back with GOAT punches knocking Sid down. Vader hits an avalanche in the corner and Sid rolls to the outside where Cornette hits him with that racket. Sid is slow to get back on to apron and they begin to brawl on the apron but SID HITS A FUCKIN’ SUNSET FLIP INTO THE RING BUT VADER IS ABLE TO HOLD ONTO THE ROPES AND DROPS ALL HIS WEIGHT ONTO HIS CHEST. Sid manages to hit a desperation side suplex but Vader is up first and begins pounding at his face but Sid connects with a boot before heading up top. He tries a crossbody but Vader catches him in mid air and simply drops him to the mat :lmao Vader follows up with a big splash but it gets only two. Vader hits a second-rope splash but pulls Sid up before the count of three. WHAT! Vader tries the Vader Bomb but it meets knees. Sid comesback up with a clothesline and a bodyslam; Sid sets up for the powerbomb but Cornette jumps up on the apron; Sid releases the hold and pulls the second rope up crotching Cornette as he is trying to enter the ring. Vader umps Sid but he reverses into another powerbomb attempt but Vader low blows him to block as the ref is busy rolling Cornette out of the ring. Vader goes for the powerbomb but Sid blocks allowing Vader to fisticuffs but Sid gets quickly caught with a one-armed chokeslam for the win, Solid big man vs. big man match. Post-Match: Shawn and Sid have words before shaking hands.

Dock Hendrix tries to interview Sid, but Jim Ross buts in on the interview time and asks the tough questions. JR asks Sid about his past, turning on Shawn Michael's, and asks if he will break Michaels’ back to get the WWF title. Sid says he'll do whatever it takes to make his conquer and fulfil his destiny and prove that he is the master and ruler of the world.

Buried Alive Match: The Undertaker vs. Mankind (w/Paul Bearer)
Great fuckin’ brawl early on, that included when Mankind goes to take Takers leg out by pulling him to the mat. But Taker kicks Mankind off and his head hits the back of the unprotected guard rails JESUS! THAT WAS SICK. Taker then heads up top and dives off on to Mankind, they begin to brawl up to where the grave is with Taker killing him with those uppercuts before he pick up a shovel but Mankind manages to take it away and pokes him in the throat with the end handle gimmick allowing him to attempt a suplex but taker counters into a small package but both men roll down the dirt onto the concrete floor :lmao They now fight back to ring side as Taker bounces his head off the steps and back into the ring. Taker punches him from one side of the ring to the other then down to the floor where he begins to choke Mankind with one of the cable wires. More brawling into the crowd but they don’t go too far cause Taker whips him and back into the rails again and back to the floor. Taker then follows up with a running no hands clothesline over the rails onto Mankind :mark: Back in the ring, and Taker who has just been beating the shit out of Mankind for a good 5/7 minutes delivers a series of headbutt before going for Old School but out of desperation Paul Bearer shakes the ring ropes to crotch Taker. Allowing Mankind to take over by choking him, Taker manages to fight back until Paul hands Mankind a weapon it looks like a plastic weapon and Mankind begins to stab Taker with it. Mankind stabs away with the object and rakes and stabs Taker’s face with it. Taker rebounds out of the corner with a clothesline and ascertains the object and takes out Mankind with it and another flying clothesline followed by a legdrop. Taker goes out after Paul Bearer so Mankind takes out a chair but Taker sees him coming so he kicks him; Bearer hits the Undertaker with the urn but that just pisses him off but it does allow Mankind to kill him with a chair to the head. Mankind rubs his face against the chair. Cactus knee into the steel steps and Mankind drags Taker back to the grave he manages to knock Taker into the grave and he’s just about to put dirt onto him until Taker pulls him into the grave and pounds away at him until he gets out. Taker tries to follow him but Mankind throws dirt into his face, Taker comes back and hiptosses Mankind off the grave pile down onto the floor HOLY SHIT! Before brawling back to ring side, Mankind kills Taker with a pulling piledriver and then a double-arm DDT, onto a chair, he tries pinfalls but they are useless here. So Taker sits-up and clobbers Mankind’s back with the chair and places it onto his face. Taker drops a leg onto the chair as Mankind crawls to the apron and hotshots Taker off the top rope. Mankind pulls the ringside padding up and tries another piledriver onto the concrete but Taker counters into an Emerald Flowsion and backdrops his back into the steps :mark: Taker throws the ring steps into the ring and tosses them at Mankind and drops them on his back; Tombstone follows and Taker points to the grave. He lifts him into the fireman’s carry position and brings him to the gravesite where Mankind surprises him with the Mandible Claw. Mankind gets the urn and tries to nail the Undertaker with it but he goozles him and chokeslams him into the grave. Taker begins to shovel dirt onto him and buries him for the win. This was great, real worth sitting through the other hour and 15 minutes just for this match. Mankind takes insane bumps, Taker is super aggressive, and it's great. A lot of brutal stuff with a chair and steel steps.

Post-Match: The Executioner runs out and hits Taker with a shovel. Mankind and Gordy then start to burying the Undertaker alive. Goldust, Hunter Hearst Helmsley, Crush and Justin “Hawk” Bradshaw all run out with shovels to assist in the burial, and then they all leave. In the boiler room Paul Bearer and Mankind celebrate and introduce the Executioner. Back in the arena, lightning strikes the headstone with the PPV logo on it; Taker’s hand bursts out of the dirt. THE UNDERTAKER LIVES!

JR heel turn and shoots were stupid, as it didn't pay off anywhere and it just confused the majority of the audience who didn't even know Vince was the owner and it was just distracting come match time. A few funny digs doesn't make it better than Cole and JBL shit they get blasted for.

Why the fuck would HHH take a stunner and a loss to Austin for a Perfect distraction, when they became buddies the night after? Yeah, I'll take a beating and lose a win bonus because me and my enemy can swerve the people and stupid Marc Mero the next night.

Oh and Sid/Taker was over who was the master of the Powerbomb, but none of them use the move? :hm::hm::hm:

Perfect and Hunter really wanted to make the people look like fool on Raw IDK.

You mean Sid/Vader, yeah the feud started over who was the master of the powerbomb yet the match didn't end with that move classic WWF booking.

Classic, swerve for swerve sakes.

Think it was the classic holding the chair......turn hips and blasting your "friend" cliche.

I can see deezy's point on the Hunter/Perfect swerve but stuff like this happens all the time in wrestling so I don't know if this is any worse than a lot of other stuff.

I liked the JR heel stuff personally. For one at the time he was struggling to unseat Vince as the top face announcer so they may as well have taken his character in a different direction. Fact is it made for some entertaining TV too. The main problem as deezy said was no pay off.

This was a really solid b-show.

I liked how they were building Austin's character at this point.

Its a credit to what a team Bulldog and Owen was than they dragged watchable matches out of the Gunns. WWF missed a trick with Mason IMO.

Goldust and Mero actually clicked really well in the ring.

Vader and Sid was the low point, they were better as a tag team in WCW.

Buried Alive was the perfect gimmick for Taker/Mankind and the ending was perfect.

Overall this might have be one of best IYH events.
