WWE Promoting Twitter
As you may have noticed during this past weeks episode of RAW, WWE didn't speak at all about Twitter. The only promoting of Twitter was the graphics that appeared on the screen of trending topics. F4Wonline.com is reporting that word coming from backstage is that WWE has had a change of heart and is pulling back on the heavy promotion of Twitter.

I noticed it too, good thing that they're cutting back on it. It was really starting to get annoying and there was no need for it especially how heavy it was being pushed.

I could be wrong but I think the only Twitter comment I heard all night was from Lawler making fun of Cole or Johnny Ace for tweeting during a match, didn't notice a mention from Cole though about it unlike the 50 times he does a week.

Kind of hard to do that for me when the commentators mention it every 20 minutes and they have a trending bar every 5 minutes, then they have their twitter names under the superstars name.

Ridiculous and was way too over used.

There was that one week where they really overdid it (where The Rock cut a 15min promo trying to get "boots to asses" trending.

It was lame as hell.

Since then I haven't noticed it.

One of the few reports that I hope is true because the shit got beyond annoying. Spent more time putting over a social networking site than your own talent and storylines.

It really seemed to only be heavy when they were doing the coded Jericho videos perhaps they were just trying to get people to notice that?

I actually like the whole "Trending right now" graphic they have at the bottom, its a smart way to get the fans involved and a smooth integration.

But it really does get annoying when it comes to the commentary team. I hate how whenever Jerry sees Cole with his iPad and basically tells him to put the fucking thing away, and Cole's like "I'm a journalist!!".

Ughh.

It was smart and did get WWE noticed within the social networking community but because of how much they used it, made me hate it. Sure if they kept it at a low minimum, I wouldn't of had as much of a problem with it.

Wonder if it was a deal between WWE and twitter possibly? Doubt it.

No they wouldn't have a deal going, but by putting over Twitter as much as they do, WWE get themselves over as well with a wider variety of audiences through social media. Its just another form of promotion at the core, albeit a very smart and unique form of promotion in a new and less traditional medium.

Never really bothered me except I hate when things shouldn't be trending and the only reason they are because people on Twitter don't know who such and such is.

It's not like Cole/Lawler ever really discuss what is going in matches anyways.

I don't mind the trending bar at the bottom of the screen but I used to hate when the commentators would bring it up all the time. I am glad that they have pulled back on promoting Twitter because it did get to be too much before.

I can honestly say I never noticed anything Twitter related on RAW which can only be a good thing.
