-- April 10: Former WWE stars Luther Reigns and Ryan Sakoda and former WWE Developmental wrestler Russ McCullough have joined other former wrestlers suing WWE over concussions.
TMZ reported the lawsuit, but did not specify where the suit was filed or who the representing attorney is, but the verbiage is similar to the suit by Big Vito and Evan Singleton earlier this year claiming that WWE "under the guise of providing entertainment has for decades subjected its wrestlers to extreme physical brutality."
The suit references Chris Benoit's brain condition at the time of Benoit's double-murder suicide in June 2007, saying the effects of being "routinely hit in the head with a chair" and allegedly instructed to wrestle through injuries is symbolic of damage suffered by the trio.
The suit seeks damages for the wrestlers and an injunction preventing WWE from subjecting wrestlers to similar treatment.
In a follow-up report, TMZ talked to Jerry McDevitt, WWE's long-time lead attorney, who came out strongly against the suit. McDevitt, who said earlier this year that WWE plans to fight these types of lawsuits in court, tossed around verbiage such as the wrestlers being "nobodies" who were "brainwashed" by attorneys looking for money.
McDevitt claimed: "We know these claims are fraudulent, and will fight them." He added that he believes the wrestlers are "being targeted by attorneys who tell them there's hundreds of thousands of dollars they can make by joining a class action suit like this."
