An increased amount of stadium shows looks to be the norm for WWE going forward.
This year, WWE will set a company record with eight stadium shows. Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men podcast reports that running more stadium events is an approach that WWE plans to continue with in 2023.
"A source over at WWE mentioned that WWE intends to run more stadium shows moving forward in 2023. Just for reference 2022 has 8 stadium events. The goal is to make this the new norm. This is a Nick Khan approach when it comes to Premium Live Events," Zarian tweeted.
"The scalability of large stadiums is very beneficial when it comes to having live attendance over 15k. The event doesn't have to be a sell-out of 50k+ but now you have room to do 20-35k shows more often leading to much higher revenue & higher level of excitement for the event."
Zarian also explained WWE's thinking on this week's episode of We're Live, Pal:
The 2022 Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber in Saudi Arabia, and both nights of WrestleMania 38 were held in stadiums. WWE has four more stadium shows planned for the remainder of 2022: Money in the Bank, SummerSlam, September's PPV in the United Kingdom, and a PPV in Saudi Arabia.
Money in the Bank is being held at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, SummerSlam is set for Nissan Stadium in Nashville, and the UK PPV is taking place at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.
