WWE has shown internal interest in potentially signing one of independent wrestling's top unsigned wrestlers.
In the new edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that WWE has talked internally about potentially signing Richard Holliday. It was confirmed last month that Holliday was no longer under contract with MLW.
Last December, Holliday announced that he was battling stage four Hodgkin's lymphoma and was in the midst of undergoing chemotherapy treatment. He shared a positive update earlier this month, revealing that his cancer is in remission.
Meltzer added that WWE has also spoken internally about potentially signing NJPW wrestler Tama Tonga:
I don’t know if they will be signed but there has been talk internally in WWE of late about Richard Holliday because of the story of his beating cancer and in Tama Tonga, who there has been talk about for some time.
Holliday is returning to the ring at a show for Paradise Alley Pro Wrestling in Woodbridge, Connecticut on Saturday, June 10. It will be Holliday's first match since announcing that he's in remission.
In July, Holliday will make his GCW debut at an event in Hartford, Connecticut. That show is taking place on Saturday, July 8.
