WWE re-hires former OVW/WWE-ECW star

Former WWE-ECW star Shawn "Gavin" Spears has been signed to a developmental deal and returned last week to WWE developmental.

Spears was a talent that was really good in OVW during that era of developmental (especially with and against Cody Rhodes) and then was never given a fair shake when being brought up to the main roster.

He was invited to take part in a tryout a few months ago in Tampa, FL and returned to developmental last week

He was really good in OVW, but it was a shame he never got a shot when he was called up to ECW.

Barely remember him from ECW, but I remember hearing about this guy a lot when he was in OVW.

I only remember his small forgettable run in ECW when he was apart of the superstar initiative. Knew about him from OVW but never really watched any of his stuff from there.

Same could be said about Idol Stevens a couple years ago when they gave him another development deal. What ever became of that guy?

Not gonna lie, about 5-10 other names like Paul Burchill, Rob Conway, or even Katie Lea came to mind before this guy.

Remember him debuting as part of the New Superstar Initiative and then losing his first match to Ricky Ortiz. Was never going anywhere on ECW and he didn't really have much of a character on the show. Had massive wraps on him but nothing eventuated. Good luck to him on his second chance.

Wish he would get a second chance, had so much potential and did well with the oddball gimmicks he was given. They should have brought him up to ECW with his Ripper gimmick that he was doing in OVW at the time.

Is he even wrestling anymore? Remember reading something about him going back to being a firefighter but I don't know if he is still wrestling in the UK. Only in his early thirties so he would be hitting his prime now.
