NoDQ.com > WWE > WWE on Nickelodeon, content for older fans
Posted by Chris Kaufman on 05/18/2010 at 06:07 PM

WWE COO Donna Goldsmith said yesterday at the JP Morgan Global Technology, Media and Telecom Conference that WWE is talking with Nickelodeon about bringing an animated TV series to the network.

Goldsmith also said she recently talked with Vince McMahon about how WWE has walked away from their older audience in recent years and talked about new ideas to get that audience back.

Goldsmith said McMahon suggested a nostalgia or Legends program.

A cartoon series on Nickelodeon is going to help get your older audience back? *sigh* Like your older audience watches Nickelodeon.

It's two different subjects. They will continue exploiting the younger audience with the animated series and on a completely unrelated matter, they want to get back the older audience, which they plan to do so which a nostalgia program, which, btw, i am willing to bet, most of us would watch if they start rerunning old Monday Night Raws.

Yea if any old stuff from the 90s and 00s gets replayed ill be tuning in for sure. If they just went in chronological order with Raws and PPVs and stuff. Itd be sick. Too bad all the fuckin logos and phrases have to be blocked these days and the screen looks like a giant blur.

So its going to be an updated version of Hulk Hogan's Rock n Wrestling only it will be John Cena, and probably Mark Henry etc in wacky adventures trying to stop the evil Edge, Chris Jericho etc instead of Iron Sheik

If they do this then I agree. I love watching old ppvs and tv shows. A cartoon, however, would not be nostalgic. Does WWE expect me to start using my sippy cup again? I gave that shit up at least a month ago!

WWE has walked away from their older audience in recent years and talked about new ideas to get that audience back

So to achieve this, we make a cartoon on nickelodeon.

I hate the idea of a cartoon on a kids channel but at the same time, if they're going to give the older crowd a show then I see what direction WWE is going. They aren't exclusive to the kids, but they're not only focused on the adults either. They want both audiences which is why its called "family programming".

As long as they keep it 50/50 I'll have nothing to complain about, although I miss the TV-14 days :(
