Dave Meltzer has addressed Cody Rhodes' recovery, rumors of The Rock being in the Royal Rumble, and more.

In the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Meltzer reported that Rhodes' recovery from a torn pectoral muscle is going well.

"Cody Rhodes’ recovery is going well," Meltzer wrote. "He’s been working heavily with top-level trainers to put on size and strength and hit 240 pounds legit, which may be the thickest he’s been in his life."

"He’s back to normal when it comes to his ability to train and lift. No word when he’ll return given it makes sense for it to be a surprise."

Meltzer also commented on the latest rumors surrounding The Rock being in the Royal Rumble. Rock has been talked about as a "pie-in-the-sky" surprise for the show but at this point, his participation is only a rumor.

The idea we heard regarding a discussion and nothing more, like I said, it’s been talked about as a pie-in-the-sky is a surprise No. 30 entrant and winning. It could be something only a few people know but as best we can tell there is nothing official to it right now past a rumor,” Meltzer wrote.

Meltzer is also reporting that WWE has commissioned new tag team title belts for the Usos. BeltFanDan and Xero News have reported the same previously.

"They have commissioned new physical tag belts," Meltzer wrote.

Meltzer is also reporting that Aliyah is ready to return. She's been out of action with rib and shoulder injuries since the September 12 edition of Raw.

"Aliyah is cleared to return after being put on the sidelines with an injury which led to Shotzi taking her spot on the Smackdown women’s depth charts and going babyface. She hasn’t been used on television since there is no current storyline for her and wasn’t figured for Survivor Series. This was first reported by Ringside News and confirmed," Meltzer wrote.

So Rock returning at Rumble would truly take the wind out of Cody’s sails.

I’ve been saying for months that they should’ve made new tag belts for the Usos. Probably since they initially unified them.

And idc about Aaliyah. She looks good, I guess

If you're making new tag belts officially unifying those belts what about the big belts? Though in my opinion You should have a World Champion, WWE champion and then an undisputed above them. Only a champion can challenge for that belt, you can either make them drop the belt they currently hold or defend it separately. Reigns has proven that long... reigns are ok these days so it's not like you have to defend it at every ppv. It could allow you to bring in some talent that doesn't have the time to be on tv constantly like cena, reigns, rock, goldberg, lesnar, Austin even. Have them hold that top tier belt and defend it 4-5 times a year. It give it a big match feel again and not rotate through the entire roster constantly.
