We noted a while back that WWE had plans for a 40-man Royal Rumble main event in 2015 but it was later confirmed that the match would just be a 30-man Rumble.
It turns out that WWE wanted a number of ECW Originals in the match due to the show being held in Philadelphia. The idea was to use former ECW guys to get the match to 40 competitors. The idea of using former ECW guys was nixed and officials decided on going with the 30-man match.

I'm fine with this

Yeah, the Rumble is always awesome.

What would be even more awesome, is that if Ambrose won and we'd get a perfect storyline culminating at Mania and that's Ambrose vs Rollins for the WWE-WHC. Fantasy booking, right there. :yay:

But, if they wanna go with Reigns, like we all assume... Then, that's fine, as long as they let Rollins cash in on him afterwards. :please:

Yeah, I'm sure reusing the 40-man Royal Rumble idea would have nothing to do with:

1. Erasing ADR as the only winner of a 40-man Rumble
2. Making Reigns' victory look even more impressive by winning a 40-man battle royal instead of just a 30-man
3. Making it easier for Reigns to break his own elimination record from last year (which I wouldn't be surprised to see him still do, but it's an easier goal to accomplish if there were 39 other men to throw out instead of just 29)

For all those reasons, I wouldn't be surprised to still see them implement the 40-man Rumble idea again next year, whether they end up using any former ECW stars for it or not.

Reigns could eliminate 29 or 39 men and break his own record, but I still wouldn't give a damn about that guy.

Sure, the 'E can have it their way and let Reigns win the Rumble and then win the title from Bork at WM31... But as long as they let Rollins cash in on Reigns at WM31, I'm fine with it.

how many former ECW stars would even make it? Guys like Snow and Raven etc would need a cart to get them even into the ring before the timer is up and another star would be out.
