ROAD TO WWE CLASH AT THE CASTLE ​

BOBBY LASHLEY(C) VS ROMAN REIGNS
The first match announced for the WWE Clash at the Castle premium live event was a one on one match, for the WWE Undisputed Championship.

With the roles of defending champion and challenger reversed, as Bobby Lashley(c) attempted to defend against the former champion Roman Reigns.

This match came about after Bobby Lashley walked into the 2022 edition of the WWE Summerslam premium live event, as the WWE US Champion and picked up the Men’s MITB Briefcase for a short time.

He proceeded to cash it in after the main event and dethroned the “Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns to capture the WWE Undisputed Championship. Following Summerslam, Lashley vacated the WWE US Championship and was confronted by Reigns who told him he would see him at Clash at the Castle.​

VACANT WWE UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSHIP
JOHNNY GARGANO VS TOMMASO CIAMPA
At WWE Summerslam 2022 premium live event the then WWE United States Champion the “Almighty” Bobby Lashley successfully retained the title against the former champion Austin Theory. The match just so happened to be for the latter’s Men’s MITB Briefcase.

As a result of Lashley’s victory he became the new holder of the briefcase and proceeded to cash it in after the main event and became the new WWE Undisputed Champion.

Following the event, Lashley proceeded to vacate the WWE US Championship. RAW General Manager Adam Pearce announced that Johnny Gargano would face Tommaso Ciampa at Clash at the Castle to determine a new champion.​

THE USO’S(C) VS THE JUDGMENT DAY VS EDGE & REY MYSTERIO
The lead up to WWE Clash at the Castle the current reigning and defending WWE Undisputed Tag Team Champions the Uso’s(c) found themselves in the crosshairs of two other tag teams.

The first being the reunited Edge and Rey Mysterio, while the second was the team of men who exiled the “Rated R Superstar” aka Edge from the stable he created the Judgment Day.

The duo of Damian Priest & Finn Balor promised that they would not only win the titles but that they also had a surprise in store for the event.​

WWE RAW WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP
BIANCA BELAIR(C) VS ASUKA VS CARMELLA VS BAYLEY VS DAKOTA KAI VS IYO SKY
The fourth match announced for the WWE Clash at the Castle premium live event was a six pack elimination women’s match. This wasn’t just any match though as the WWE RAW Women’s Championship would be up for grabs.

As the self proclaimed “BEST OF WWE” and current champion Bianca Belair(c) attempted to defend her title against five women.

The match came about after Asuka, Carmella, Bayley, Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky put their names forward as the next challenger, so RAW GM Adam Pearce made it a six pack title match.​

GUNTHER(C) VS SHEAMUS
On an episode of Friday Night Smackdown, the “Celtic Warrior” Sheamus went one on one with the current reigning and defending WWE Intercontinental Champion, the “Ring General” Gunther.
The match was contested under championship eliminator rules which meant it was a non-title affair.

It was also a high stakes match because if Gunther won, Sheamus would never be able to challenge him for the title, if Sheamus won he would earn a shot at the title.

In the end and it was all said and done Sheamus was able to get the win after hitting three Brogue Kicks, he announced his title match for Clash at the Castle.​

WWE SMACKDOWN WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP
LIV MORGAN(C) VS NAOMI
The final match announced for the event was a one on one women’s division match for the WWE Smackdown Women’s Championship.

Between the reigning and defending champion Liv Morgan(c) and the challenger Naomi.

Naomi earned this title shot after she beat Shayna Baszler on an episode of Friday Night Smackdown.​
