I didn't know John Oliver was such a mark. Even though his intend was to bury Vince, he kinda put the product itself over real good lol.
I do agree with most of what he said, but then again.. he's overdoing it a bit. Firstly, not many wrestlers have to turn to funding pages for money, in total he brought up 5 out of idk how many wrestlers WWE signed and released over the past couple decades but it's definitely a lot. Secondly, it's a dangerous profession which will take a toll on your body no matter if you have health insurance or not. So blaming Vince for someone's death is a real stretch. We can't really chip in too much on the current state of health insurance though, given that we don't know how much main roster talent actually makes a month/year (& what bonuses they get) or how they themselves treat(ed) their bodies outside of the ring.
Also, why is he trying to boycott Mania with this? I see what he did by sucking up to wrestling fans and telling them that they're so brave and great for voicing their opinions, but now he's trying to encourage them to potentially ruin someone's match with shitty health insurance chants. There has to be a better way of getting that message across idk, let the media do its thing but don't put a damper on someone's body of work.
An already often mentioned off season would definitely be nice. Not just for the wrestlers but also for the creative process. The 2 months between Survivor Series and the Rumble would work well
