WWE is looking to stop holding TV tapings for its weekly television programs such as Raw, NXT, and SmackDown soon.

Instead of taping shows two at a time, WrestleVotes reports that the company plans to start airing live weekly programming again starting with the August 21st episode of Friday Night SmackDown, which would be the go-home edition of the blue brand for SummerSlam.

WWE wants to have one location for the entire weekend that would include SmackDown, SummerSlam, and then the following Raw. NXT TakeOver: 30 is still planned to take place in Orlando, Florida.

This comes at a time where it has been reported multiple times that WWE is planning to hold this year’s SummerSlam pay-per-view event from an outdoor location with the hope of having fans in attendance. Atlantic City is the favored hosting site.

WWE holds the SummerSlam pay-per-view event on Sunday, August 23, 2020. WrestleVotes reported the following:

“WWE’s new plan is to restart LIVE programming beginning w/ the SmackDown prior to SummerSlam, continuing throughout the weekend w/ the PPV & into RAW. Fans are still TBD. 1 location for all. Not certain on exact location as of yet. NXT TakeOver will still take place in Orlando.”

Live is always better if people can be safe.
