TMZ.com posted an article about last night's angle where R-Truth smoked a cigarette and blew the smoke on John Morrison. Patrick Reynolds, Executive Director of TobaccoFree.org, is demanding a public apology from Truth for smoking in front of children.

"For him to smoke in front of [children] is irresponsible. At best, it's thoughtless, and at worst, if he calculated appealing to kids by posing as a bad-boy outlaw, it's evil."

In response, WWE issued the following statement to TMZ.com:

"The negative effect smoking has on one’s health and physical performance was a part of a storyline on last night’s Monday Night Raw. Negative depictions of tobacco use on television are not unusual and can be seen on other TV-PG shows."
Pretty good response from WWE that made sense.

Yeah we heard from that crowd chanting "that is illegal". The fact a woman screamed "think of the children" is also why they are saying it in this article.

As for WWE's response, apparently those who smoke look like a crack head when their nerves get bad without one

Is there anything they don't get heat for these days? My god, have the organizations that have called them out for stuff recently seen stuff from ten years ago? Go watch that them go complain.

This is why fans need to give WWE a break sometimes when they have to change things. Always some kind of bitching about anything they do.

I'm surprised NAACP or some other Black Unity-esque organization are not up in arms with the angle as well.

Great response by WWE as that's obviously the most logical answer. The angle itself was pretty good at that and the smoking part added a lot to it.

It's only a matter of time considering how his new gimmick is going. The beatdown on Morrison was still great and the conflict he showed was (Y)

I can see it now. Truth preaching about these rednecks not giving him respect with a 40oz in one hand and cig in his mouth

Really hope he bring back "A Moment of Truth" before his matches instead of the whole what's up shit. Hell the get crunk actually fits now

That would be great, but to do it would require Chavo and some white star imo, unless if they can turn DZP into gangstas

Usos imo would work. Wouldn't be like the old 3LK but they fit well with him.

Its wrestling, wrestling in general isn't intended to be kid friendly, so fuck off.

There goes anything edgy from the WWE. People should just fuck off and stop caring so damn much about something as small as a wrestler lighting up a cigarette.

I grew up around cigarette's, I'm sure the kids in the arena will be fine.
