WWE Files for old WCW PPV Trademark

It’s been almost two decades since WWE bought WCW, and you never know when classic ideas from World Championship wrestling might resurface on World Wrestling Entertainment programming.

Over the years fans have seen War Games, Starrcade and the Great American Bash return, and now PWInsider is reporting that WWE has filed to trademark “Wrestle War.”

According to the USPTO WWE filed to trademark “Wrestle War” for:


“Entertainment services, namely, a show about professional wrestling; entertainment services, namely, the production and exhibition of professional wrestling events rendered live and through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing wrestling news and information through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information.”

The trademark was reportedly filed on 6/26.

WrestleWar stopped in like '92 I believe but the '91 edition is one of my favorite WCW PPVs ever and '89 was also fire. Name itself is whatever, I don't love it or anything. Also it was essentially the WarGames PPV and "TakeOver: WarGames" or just a WWE PPV named WarGames sounds way cooler to me anyway
