PWInsiderAn article in The Hindu Business Line noted that WWE and Ten Line Sports will be investing upwards of $100 million to upgrade WWE's presence in India.
Rakesh Sethi, CEO, Ten Sports, noted that the investments would be used to bring more live WWE events to India, to launch an official WWE merchandise line in the country and to reduce "the gap" in WWE TV series between the United States and India. I believe that means the shows airing in a more timely fashion, perhaps even live.
Ten Sports will also be airing WWE in "multiple Indian languages" as part of their new deal that sees them hold the rights to broadcast WWE through 2019.
Currently, Ten Sports airs Raw, Smackdown, NXT and WWE PPVs. Under the new deal, they are adding Main Event and a one-hour version of Raw tailored for the Indian market.
The article notes the first WWE live events in India will take place in 2015.
India is a rapidly growing market so this makes a lot of sense, there's a lot of potential for money making.
