WWE reported their third quarter earnings for 2013 earlier this morning, announcing the pay-per-view buy rates for Money in the Bank, SummerSlam and Night of Champions.

* Money in the Bank – 199,000 buys (compared to 188,000 the year prior)

* SummerSlam – 296,000 buys (compared to 358,000 the year prior)

* Night of Champions – 175,000 buys (compared to 189,000 the year prior)

No doubt that Summerslam number was disappointing for WWE. They had their top three babyfaces (one of whom was and still is getting mega reactions from the crowd) and Brock Lesnar in a well built, well promoted double main event and it did even less buys than the disappointing Summerslam 2011 buyrate.

Oh well. Still one of the greatest Summerslam events ever. It's rare that you get two MOTY candidates on one PPV card like we did this year.
