A MONSTER’S REIGN COMES TO AN END?
As can be expected by a man with the nickname of the “Monster Among Men”. The WWE Universal Championship of Braun Strowman had been monstrous up until this point.

In the beginning of 2019 the man who Strowman defeated to become the champion, Roman Reigns made his momentous return to the company and made the shockingly great announcement that he was in remission once more.

He asked Strowman to join him in the ring which he did. He then asked for his rematch for the title at the Rumble. The “Monster Among Men” aka Strowman agreed and stated he had been looking forward to the rematch.​

NEW STRONG STYLE
The current reigning and defending WWE Champion the self proclaimed “New” Daniel Bryan(c). Didn’t have to wait to long into 2019 to find his next challenger for his title.

On the first episode of Smackdown of 2019, SD GM Shane McMahon took to the ring and announced a fatal five way match.

The “King of Strong Style” Shinsuke Nakamura beat Andrade, Jeff Hardy, Randy Orton and Rey Mysterio to earn a shot at the title.​

BADDEST HUGS ON THE PLANET
On the January 7th episode of WWE Monday Night RAW the duo of the “Legit Boss” Sasha Banks faced off with Bayley.

This wasn’t a regular match by any means as the winner of it would earn a shot at the WWE RAW Women’s Championship. When it was all said and done it would be Bayley who got the win​

THE EMPRESS VS THE QUEEN ROUND TWO
On the January 8th episode of WWE Tuesday Night Smackdown. Smackdown GM Shane McMahon announced a triple threat women’s division match.

Where the winner would go onto the 2019 edition of the WWE Royal Rumble pay per view.

At the event they would challenge Asuka(c) for the WWE Smackdown Women’s Championship. The field of competition consisted of Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair and Naomi.

The end of the match saw Flair trap Lynch in the Figure Eight for the win.​

The final match announced for the pay per view portion of the 2019 WWE Royal Rumble event was a one on one match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship. Between the current champion the “Lunatic” Dean Ambrose(c) and the challenger the “Real RockNRolla” Finn Balor.​

The first match announced for the Kickoff Show of the 2019 Royal Rumble pay per view. Was a one on one match for the WWE United States Championship. Between the reigning champion Rusev(c) and his opponent the challenger, Samoa Joe.

A GLORIOUS BREEZY NIGHTMARE
Finally the last match announced for the event that would take part on the kickoff show. Was a triple threat elimination tag team match for the WWE RAW Tag Team Championship. Between the current champions Bobby Roode & Chad Gable aka Gloriously Gable(c). The two challenging teams were Breezango and the duo of Bray Wyatt and Matt Hardy aka the Woken Nightmares.

• The 2019 WWE Royal Rumble Kickoff Show began with a one on one match for the WWE US Championship.​
• Between the reigning and defending champion, the “Bulgarian Brute” Rusev(c) and the challenger the “Samoan Submission Machine” Samoa Joe.​
• As can be expected given the fact that she accompanied Rusev to ringside. Lana made frequent unseen attempts to aid him in his attempt to remain champion.​
• In the end, Samoa Joe was able to lock his opponent in the Coquina Clutch and Rusev tapped out.​

WWE RAW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP - ELIMINATION RULES
GLORIOUSLY GABLE(C) VS BREEZANGO VS THE WOKEN NIGHTMARES

• The second and final match to take place on the kickoff show was for the WWE RAW Tag Team Championship.​
• The match was a three way tag team elimination match.​
• It featured the defending champions, Gloriously Gable(c). The other two teams involved were Breezango and the Woken Nightmares.​
• Breezango was eliminated first after Bobby Roode hit a Spinebuster on Tyler Breeze.​
• The Woken Nightmares got the win after they hit a Two Man Sister Abigail on Chad Gable with Matt Hardy getting the pin.​
