The first WWE event of 2019 was revealed to be the NXT TakeOver Phoenix. Which was announced for the 26th of January of 2019 and it would take place at the Talking Stick Resort Arena.

UNDISPUTED BLACKHEART
Going into 2019 a feud from 2018 continued that being the one for the NXT Championship. Betweenn the current reigning champion Tommaso Ciampa(c) and the leader of the Undisputed Era aka Adam Cole.
On the go home edition of NXT, Ciampa was able to walk out victorious in a gauntlet match against the other members of the stable. As a result of this victory NXT General Manager William Regal banned them from ringside.

A QUEEN, A GENIUS AND A PIRATE
The current reigning and defending NXT Women’s Champion, the self proclaimed “Queen of Spades” Shayna Baszler, didn't have to wait long into 2019 to find the next challenger or should that be challengers.
As both Io Shirai and Kairi Sane confronted Baszler on back to back episodes of NXT and challenged her to a title match. The champion just laughed both times and declined, however NXT GM William Regal had other ideas.
As he announced a number one contender match on an episode of NXT, however Baszler and her stooges Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir. Regal announced a triple threat title match for the TakeOver event, and banned Duke and Shafir from ringside.

JOHNNY WRESTLING GOES INTERNATIONAL
A one on one match for the NXT International Championship was announced for NXT TakeOver: Phoenix by GM William Regal. He made the match between the current champion Ricochet(c) and Johnny Gargano after the latter was able to defeat the former in a Championship Eliminator match.

It was revealed to be a triple threat tag team match.
Featuring the reigning and defending champions the Undisputed Era(c) and the two challenger teams, the War Raiders and the Street Profits.

The event opened with a one on one women’s division match between Bianca Belair and Deonna Purrazzo. Which saw the latter aka Purrazzo get the win after she poked her opponent in one of her eyes and rolled her up.
Next Aleister Black faced Chris Hero in a brutally stiff contest. Which ended by knockout after Black damn near took Hero’s head off with the Fade to Black.
In the third match of the event and the first championship match of the night took place. A triple threat men’s division tag team match for the NXT Tag Team Championship. The duo of Hanson and Rowe aka the War Raiders isolated one half of the defending champions, Roderick Strong, Then they proceeded to hit their Fallout finisher on him with Rowe getting the pin.
After that the “One & Only” Ricochet also known as the current reigning and defending NXT International Champion. Who was putting his title on the line against none other than Johnny “Johnny Wrestling” Gargano in a single’s match. The challenger moved out of the way of an attempted Shooting Star Press from his opponent and proceeded to lock him in the Garga-No-Escape and Ricochet tapped out.
The fifth match of the event was also the penultimate match of the night. It was a triple threat match for the NXT Women’s Championship. The lineup of the match featured the defending champion Shayna Baszler(c) and the two challengers. The first being the “Genius of the Sky” Io Shirai and the second the “Pirate Princess” Kairi Sane. It concluded with Baszler trapping Shirai in the Kirifuda Clutch. Only for Sane to launch herself off one of the top turnbuckles with the InSane Elbow where she pinned Baszler to win the title.
Finally the night closed out with the match for black & gold brand’s top prize the NXT Championship. Between the defending champion “Blackheart” Tommaso Ciampa(c) and the challenger the leader of the Undisputed Era aka Adam Cole. Ciampa remained the NXT Champion when it was all said and done. He did this by hitting the Fairy Tale Ending in the middle of the ring for the win.

The 2019 edition of the WWE Royal Rumble pay per view event was confirmed for the 27th of January 2019. It was also revealed that it would take place at Chase Field in Phoenix Arizona.
The first and second matches announced for the ppv were rather fittingly the 2019 Men’s and 2019 Women’s Royal Rumble matches. Where the winners of both of them would have either a World or Women’s Championship match of their choosing at WrestleMania 35.
