WWE News and Rumors:

- After a very successful WrestleMania weekend for WWE, Vince McMahon has officially sold all of his shares in the company to his children Stephanie McMahon and Shane McMahon, as well as his son in law Paul Levesque, making Stephanie the majority owner of the company in the process. Amid his scandal he has once again left the company, this time for good as he passes it down to his family. Stephanie McMahon has been named Chairwoman and CEO. Shane McMahon has also been added to the board of the company. Triple H will remain Chief Content Officer and head of creative.

- There is rumors WWE will continue to look to bring back some familiar faces to the WWE in an effort to "beef up" the rosters. It's not known yet who that might be.

- WWE has also reportedly released some names from the company as well. Those names are Shanky, Boa, Brooklyn Barlow, Bryson Montana, Guru Raaj, Kale Dixon, Lash Legend, Quincy Elliot, Eddy Thorpe and Lacey Evans. The thought is most of them have not developed the way WWE has hoped and in the case of Lacey Evans, she requested her release and was granted it. It's unknown if WWE will do any other releases, but it's not expected they will go back to doing regular releases.

- It's also being reported the stipulation to Logan Paul vs Seth Rollins at WrestleMania was legit and Logan Paul has parted ways with the WWE and will not be returning. Logan has interest in returning to boxing with his brother while WWE always designed the signing of Paul to be a short term signing.

- Bobby Roode and Tamina have both retired from wrestling. Roode has moved into a producer role with the WWE and Tamina has been moved onto a legends contract.

Monday Night Raw Live From the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California

Monday Night Raw comes on the air and we get welcomed to the show by Kevin Patrick and Corey Graves, who hype up how this is one of the biggest Raws of the year every year and how you never know who might show up tonight. We go into a quick highlights package of what happened this past weekend including Finn Balor defeating Edge in Hell In A Cell, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn becoming tag champs, Rhea Ripley and Asuka both becoming champs and the biggest moment, Cody Rhodes finishing the story to defeat Roman Reigns.

Kevin Patrick says it was an incredible weekend but promises a great show tonight, and says later tonight Triple H will be here with a huge announcement for everybody. Corey says that'll be good but first we're gonna hear from the new Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, Cody Rhodes! And on cue, the new champ's music hits and he gets introduced to a loud ovation of cheers! Cody poses on stage with both titles as pyro goes off around him before he heads down to the ring. Cody enters the ring and shakes hands with Mike Rome before taking the mic from him.

Cody says normally this would be where he asks the fans what they wanna talk about, but tonight he knows what he wants to talk about because last night was the greatest moment of his career. He finished the story and became the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion! The fans cheer loudly and chant YOU DESERVE IT! as Cody smiles at the chants before saying he's honored to hold the championship his father once held. He says Roman gave him a hell of a fight, and pulled out every trick in the book to try and beat him, but he prevailed just like he said he would. He says he doesn't know when Roman is going to come back for his rematch, but whenever he wants one, he has one.

Cody then moves on and says while he respects what Roman did as champion, he plans to be a fighting champion and that starts at Backlash because he talked to Adam Pearce and Triple H and both tonight and on Smackdown, there will be a triple threat #1 contenders match to see who faces him at Backlash where he defends in a triple threat match! He mentions tonight's match will be Damian Priest vs Seth Rollins vs Bobby Lashley, and wishes them all luck and says he'll be on commentary for it. Raw now goes to break.

Raw comes back from commercial, and we go to the ring where the Maximum Male Models are in the ring and ready to compete as they take off their shirts and strike a pose center ring. After a couple moments they and the fans get a big surprise as the music of Diamond Mine hits! The fans give a nice pop for this as Julius Creed, Brutus Creed and Ivy Nile walk out onto the stage and head down the ramp, ready to compete in their Raw debut!

Match #1:
Tag Team Match
Maximum Male Models vs. Diamond Mine w/ Ivy Nile

A quick match here with the former NXT Tag Champs having an impressive debut on the main roster by making quick work of The Models despite them getting the jump before the bell to attack them. After the match officially starts, Mace hits a big boot on Julius and tags in Mansoor, who goes up top and hits a big splash! Mansoor covers but only gets a 2. Shortly after this, Julius snaps off a couple belly to belly suplexs, sending Mansoor flying around the ring! Mace tries to enter the ring illegally, but Brutus comes in and hits him with a pounce that sends him flying and takes him out! Shortly after, Julius tags in Brutus, who goes up top...and Julius lifts up Mansoor for an electric chair drop, and Brutus comes off the top with the Brutus Ball! Brutus covers as Julius tackles Mace and gets the win!

Winners via pinfall: Diamond Mine!

scxx7hp.gif

After a commercial break, we go backstage where US Champion Austin Theory is walking down a hallway admiring his championship, when he bumps into Johnny Gargano. Theory yells at him and tells him to watch where he's going, and Johnny asks what happened to Austin? He reminds him how close they were in The Way a couple of years ago, and tells him he knows they've had their differences since then, but if Theory wanted to, they could reunite. Theory laughs at this and shakes his head. He reminds Johnny he just beat John Cena at WrestleMania, more than Johnny has accomplished since he left NXT. He says if anything, he'd be mentoring Johnny now and he has no time to play mentor. Gargano points out he didn't teach Theory everything he knows and suggests they face each other tonight for that title. Theory again denies him and says he's beaten Gargano already and Gargano has to earn a shot if he wants to earn the right to lose to him again. Theory now walks off as Dexter Lumis walks up, and pulls out an axe. Johnny quickly says no, there's no need for that. We now cut to the ring.

In the arena, Judgement Day get introduced with a special introduction for new Smackdown Women's Champion Rhea Ripley. There's a loud reaction of mostly boos for the quartet, but a small amount of cheers for Rhea at least as they head down to the ring and stand together as they get mics.

As the music cuts, Rhea speaks first and talks about getting revenge on Charlotte for defeating her a couple of years ago at WrestleMania. She says she dominated Charlotte and proved that this is HER division now. She says whenever Charlotte wants a rematch, she'll be happy to destroy her again and put her down for good.

Finn now speaks up and mentions the war he went through with Edge last night, including having to get fourteen staples in his head, but brags that he still managed to win. He says he's not cleared tonight or else he'd be making sure he was in that #1 contenders match, but he trusts Damian to bring more gold to Judgement Day at Backlash.

Damian thanks Finn for the trust, and promises victory tonight. He says Seth might have won last night against a YouTuber-turned-wannabe boxer, but he's better than him. And as for Bobby? Sure he won the impromptu match against LA Knight last night, but he's not a flash in the pan like Knight, he's a monster who's going to show Bobby who the true powerhouse of Raw really is.

Dom now goes to speak, much to the displeasure of the fans. Dom manages to say his deadbeat dad beat him last night but that was a fluke! He says he should have hurt his father more, and now he's cut off by The LWO coming out led by Rey Mysterio! Rey says he thought Dominik would have learned his lesson last night when he whipped him with his belt and beat him. Rey says he's not giving Dominik another match just because he lost, but when Dom goes to respond, Santos cuts him off. Santos says he's tired of them disrespecting Rey, a true legend of the business, and he wants to fight. Santos, Joaquin Wilde and Cruz Del Toro head down the ring with Rey and Zelina reluctantly following... but Judgement Day bails from the ring not liking the numbers advantage! The fans boo as LWO offers them a chance to get back in, but they walk off up the ramp and Raw goes to commercial.

scxx7hp.gif

As Raw returns from break, we go backstage to the interview area where Cathy Kelly stands with Bobby Lashley. Cathy asks him about tonight's #1 contenders match and how he plans to win. Bobby says he heard Damian talk earlier about how he's the biggest and baddest guy on Raw, he'll prove that's a lie when he mauls him tonight just like he did to LA Knight last night and breaks him in half with a Spear. As for Seth? They've done battle many times and he knows how to beat him and he'll do it again tonight. Cathy now asks Bobby about who he thinks would be his biggest challenge from Smackdown if he does win tonight? Bobby chuckles and says nobody is a bigger threat to those titles on Cody's shoulders than him in the entire company. He promises to become world champion again at Backlash, and Cathy thanks him for his time as he walks off and we go back to the ring for the next match.

Match #2:
Tag Team Match
Cedric Alexander & Shelton Benjamin vs. Los Lotharios

A solid tag team match here with both teams having a good showing as they try to build some momentum. Early on, Benjamin and Alexander gain the advantage after a double dropkick on Humberto and isolate him for a couple of minutes. At one point Alexander whips Humberto into the corner and charges in for a clothesline, but Humberto moves out of the way and Alexander crashes into the turnbuckles and is rolled up for a close 2 count.

Humberto gets up and hits a quick superkick on Cedric to drop him, then tags in Garza! Angel enters the ring with a flash, springboarding off the top rope and hitting an elbow drop on Cedric! He gets right back to his feet and runs over to dropkick Shelton off the ring apron! Garza now turns his focus back to Alexander, who's getting to his feet, and he hits him with a back elbow to daze him, followed by a ddt! Garza covers...but Benjamin breaks up the pin at 2! Benjamin pulls Garza up and hits a jumping kick! Humberto now comes in and charges Benjamin, clotheslining him over the top rope and to the floor! Benjamin stumbles up quickly and Humberto hits a baseball slide dropkick to wipe him out!

Garza now recovers and tells Humberto to go top, and he drags Alexander up...and hits the Wing Clipper! Humberto now comes off the top...Moonsault! Humberto rolls out of the ring and Angel Garza covers Cedric, and gets the pin!

Winners via pinfall: Los Lotharios!

We go backstage to Becky Lynch and Lita, who are chatting when Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville come up to confront them. Sonya says since they won the Women's WrestleMania Showcase, they are the #1 contenders to those tag team titles. Chelsea says since it's the Raw After WrestleMania, a night of big things happening, why don't Becky and Lita give them the shot they deserve tonight? Becky and Lita exchange a look and Becky's about to answer...when Damage CTRL comes up with Bayley saying hell no! Bayley reminds Becky that her and her has been teammates lost to them at WrestleMania AND Dakota and Iyo never got a rematch after getting robbed of the titles so nobody is getting a shot before them!

Becky says there's a simple solution: instead of them all whining and complaining about what they deserve, why don't they EARN it? She suggests Chelsea and Sonya fight Damage CTRL tonight to defend their contenders spot. Neither team seems overly happy with the idea, but Lita says that sounds good to her, she'll go talk to Adam Pearce about it to get it made official since they're both a pain in everyone's ass. The two other teams look annoyed but Chelsea tells Damage CTRL after tonight they'll be called Loser Control! Iyo threatens to kick Chelsea's teeth down her throat, and Chelsea walks off with Sonya as we go to commercial.

scxx7hp.gif

In the ring after the break,, we see Dolph Ziggler standing with a mic and dressed to compete as his music cuts. Ziggler says tonight is the night after WrestleMania, it wasn't long ago he created one of the best Raw after WrestleMania moments by cashing in his Money In The Bank briefcase to become World Heavyweight Champion, a moment he'll never forget. But tonight, he wants to make another moment. He was going to challenge Cody Rhodes to a match for the titles, but then he found out he wasn't cleared for tonight. So instead, he's issuing an open challenge to anybody not currently on the Raw or Smackdown roster because win or lose, he's making a big moment tonight! He waits for a few moments...and then his challenge gets answered by Apollo Crews! Apollo is back from a run in NXT!

Match #3:
Singles Match
Dolph Ziggler vs. Apollo Crews

A quick match here with Ziggler charging Crews at the bell, and hitting a corner splash! Ziggler pounds on Crews with punches, but Crews fights back and shoves him away. Crews gets up and ducks a clothesline, then hits a dropkick! Crews hits two more dropkicks, leaving the former world champ reeling as he stumbles back up...only to walk into a jumping clothesline!

Apollo is playing it up to the fans, getting them to cheer as he waits for Dolph to get up, then lifts him up, but Ziggler backflips out of trouble and lands behind Apollo! Ziggler now goes for the ZigZag, but Apollo grabs the ropes to block it and stay on his feet! Ziggler lands hard but gets back up as Apollo turns around right into a Superkick attempt, but Crews catches his foot! Ziggler is begging for mercy, but Apollo spins him around, lifts him up and drops him with a Spin Out Powerbomb! Apollo covers and gets the win!

Winner via pinfall: Apollo Crews!

scxx7hp.gif

After the break, we go back to the interview area where Cathy Kelly is with Seth Rollins. Seth says the air is lighter and the sun is brighter today just knowing he's banished that idiot Logan Paul from the WWE. Cathy congratulates him on his win at Mania and asks him about the contenders match tonight as well as the potential of facing Cody Rhodes again at Backlash. Seth says his history with Bobby is well documented and they've had their back and forth but he's better than Bobby and he'll prove it tonight. As for Damian, he doesn't care if he brings all of Judgement Day out, or how hungry he is to get to the top, tonight is his night and he's getting his hands on the gold again. As for Cody? He's well aware he's never beat him but it'll be a triple threat at Backlash and he doesn't need to beat Cody to take those titles does he? But he still intends to beat Cody at Backlash because he handles the pressure of big matches better than anybody. Cathy wishes him luck and he walks off. We head to the ring for our first of two #1 contenders matches.

Match #4:
Women's Tag Team Championship #1 Contenders Match
Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville vs. Damage CTRL (Iyo Sky & Dakota Kai) w/ Bayley

A good match here as both teams vie for the chance to challenge the champs. Sonya and Iyo have a striking battle at one point that Sonya gets the better of after a stiff kick in the ribs knocks Iyo down and lets Sonya hit a running kick to the face. Shortly after, Iyo has regained control after shoving Sonya into Chelsea and hits a dropkick to knock her into the turnbuckles, and she falls into a sitting position. Iyo now backs up, and charges in with running knees to the face!

Later on, Chelsea and Dakota are now legal, and Chelsea ducks a roundhouse kick and rolls up Kai for 2, then picks her up and throws her out of the ring. Chelsea takes time to taunt Iyo, who tries to enter the ring but the ref stops her and Chelsea laughs at her...but this makes her miss Dakota sliding in behind her and hitting a backstabber! Dakota covers...but Green kicks out at 2. Dakota now brings Chelsea to the corner and tags in Iyo. Dakota now hits another backstabber but keeps her in position so Iyo can springboard in and hit a double stomp onto the ribs! Chelsea yells out in pain as Iyo covers her, but Sonya quickly breaks up the pin attempt.

The finish comes a couple of minutes later after Dakota tags back in and she charges into the corner looking to hit a big kick on Chelsea...but Chelsea dodges it and Kai gets hung up on the turnbuckles! Chelsea now goes over and makes the tag to Sonya! Sonya enters the ring and quickly hits a corkscrew on Dakota's leg that just got hung up. Dakota holds her leg in pain and Sonya tries to lock in a single-leg boston crab, but Dakota uses the good leg to kick her away, and she stumbles back into the Damage CTRL corner. Dakota gets up, and sees this but before she can take advantage, Chelsea grabs her leg and trips her! Iyo gets annoyed now and hops off the apron and chases Chelsea around ringside...but Chelsea slides back into the ring and Sonya drops Iyo with a kick in the head! Iyo falls out of the ring and Sonya tells Chelsea to end it.

Chelsea pulls Dakota up...I'm Prettier! Dakota drops, but Chelsea pulls her up to a kneeling position and holds her up so Deville can hit a running knee strike! Deville covers as Chelsea stands guard…they get the win!

Winners via pinfall and #1 Contenders to the Women's Tag Team Titles: Sonya Deville and Chelsea Green!

After the match, Chelsea hugs Sonya as they celebrate the win, and now the champs walk out onto the stage. Becky and Lita hold up the titles while Chelsea and Sonya motion that they're taking the titles, and the stare down takes us to commercial.

scxx7hp.gif

As we return, we go to a hallway backstage where we see The Street Profits. Dawkins talks about their win in the showcase at WrestleMania and how good it felt to get back on the right track with a win like that. He says it's even sweeter getting it on the grandest stage of them all. Tez says they're feeling so good that they might just take a visit over to Smackdown and pay Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn a little visit because they want the smoke and they want those tag team titles.

We now cut away to Lashley's locker room where he's doing last-minute stretching before the main event. Suddenly, MVP walks into the room which causes Lashley to stop what he's doing and stand ready to fight. MVP holds up his hands and tells him to relax, he comes in peace and Omos isn't even in the building tonight. Lashley does calm down but asks MVP what he wants. MVP says he just wanted to wish Lashley luck tonight...and to apologize. He's realized he was out of line the way he treated Lashley last year. He says he got jealous of Bobby's growing popularity and wanted to crush that, and that's his mistake. But he just wanted Bobby to know he doesn't feel the way he did a year ago.

Bobby seems surprised by this and takes a minute to process it, then says he accepts MVP's apology. After all, he already beat the hell out of him and Omos last year and he's moved on past all that drama. The two men fist bump and MVP says maybe one day they can... but Lashley cuts him off and says just because he forgave him doesn't mean he forgot about what MVP did. He still doesn't trust him. MVP sighs and says he understands and walks out. Lashley goes back to his prep as we go to the ring.

Triple H gets introduced by Mike Rome and he heads to the ring to cheers from the fans. After getting in the ring and soaking in a bit of cheers, he starts by talking about the huge success of WrestleMania, the huge crowd and how great the show was, and thanks the fans for that, which causes some cheering and clapping. Triple H now says he didn't come here just to thank them, he came here because he has a big announcement, but he needs Adam Pearce out here before he can announce it because it directly involves him.

Adam Pearce comes out onto the stage and quickly heads to the ring. Triple H tells the fans to give it up for Adam Pearce, and tells him he's impressed with how well he's handled the roster the last couple of years, and for that, he's giving Adam a promotion. Starting next week, Adam Pearce will OFFICIALLY be the Raw General Manager! Adam Pearce shakes hands with Triple H and thanks him for that, and Triple H tells him he knows he'll do a good job, but he's going to have a tough task in front of him in a couple weeks, because it's time to shake things up again! The night after Backlash, the WWE Draft is back, and EVERYBODY is eligible to be drafted!

The fans cheer loudly for this and Triple H tells Pearce he wants him to build the best Raw roster he possibly can. And as for who will be drafting for Smackdown and become their GM? Well, everyone will have to tune into Smackdown on Friday to find out, along with more details on the draft. We now go to break with a graphic telling us the main event is up next.

scxx7hp.gif

Match #5:
Triple Threat Undisputed WWE Universal Championship #1 Contenders Match
Seth Rollins vs. Bobby Lashley vs. Damian Priest

A great match here with Cody sitting on commentary watching. Early on, Judgement Day starts getting involved, but this leads to Seth and Bobby banding together to attack Finn and Dom, and this makes the ref eject Judgement Day from ringside. They argue but do end up leaving, and with the playing field leveled, Seth and Bobby stay working together for a couple minutes to beat down Priest and throw him out of the ring after laying him out.

A few minutes later, Bobby has Seth on the top turnbuckle and hits a superplex! Seth rolls around in pain as Bobby gets up...and walks right into a big boot from Priest! Priest now throws Bobby out of the ring and stalks Seth as he gets up and grabs him by the throat, but Seth blocks the chokeslam attempt and hits a spin kick into the ribs! Seth now bounces off the ropes looking for an early Stomp, but Priest moves out of the way and hits a back elbow to drop Rollins!

Priest now turns his attention to Lashley, who slides back into the ring and hits a spin kick to wipe him out! Priest now brings Lashley into the nearest corner, then grabs Seth and whips him into Bobby...then splashes both of them! Damian tries to pin Seth, but he kicks out at 2 so Priest covers Lashley, but he kicks out at 2 as well. Later on, Priest is looking to take Lashley out as he grabs the steel steps and slams them into him! Lashley drops on the floor and Priest throws the steps on top of him! Priest now climbs back into the ring...but as he does, Seth quickly grabs him and hits the pedigree! Seth rolls Priest over and covers him...but Priest kicks out at 2!

The finish comes a couple of minutes later with Lashley in control after hitting both men with the steps. He now backs into the corner, waiting for the first man to get up. He sees Seth rising, and as he gets up and turns around, Lashley drops him with a huge Spear! Lashley sees Priest stirring now and stalks him, looking for another Spear...but Brock Lesnar's music hits!? Lashley looks shocked as Brock Lesnar walks out onto the stage and points at him! Lesnar throws his cowboy hat to the ground and heads down the ramp...but Lashley dives over the top rope and wipes out Lesnar at ringside! It appears these two have unfinished business! Lashley hits Brock with punches before getting to his feet and pulling out a chair from under the ring, but Brock is back up and punches the chair into his face! Lashley stumbles, but Brock picks him up, F5! Lashley drops, but Lesnar isn't done yet, pulling him back up and carrying him up the ramp...F5 on the stage! Lashley is knocked out and Brock laughs before leaving!

Back in the ring, Priest just watched Lashley get destroyed and smiles, realizing it's now a singles match! He sees Seth stumbling to his feet and quickly grabs him by the throat, looking for the South of Heaven Chokeslam... but Seth counters with a jumping knee to the face to knock Priest down to all fours! Seth now has a golden opportunity and strikes quickly with the Stomp! He covers Priest and gets the big win to send him to Backlash!

Winner via pinfall and NEW #1 Contender: Seth Rollins!

After the match, Seth gets his arm raised in victory and he looks over at Cody, who stands up and claps for him. Seth tells him he's coming for him and those titles, and Cody tells him he's looking forward to it as he holds up the titles and Raw goes off the air.

Excited to officially get things rolling with my first show now posted! I figured I should mention that I'm only doing Raw and Smackdown, I will try to do a monthly recap of NXT post, but it might only be anything important that happened if so. I haven't done a BTB in forever but I've been working on this for over a year and I have everything through Backlash done and in my back log ready to post whenever. Hopefully everything looks good, I tried to make it look nice with formatting but I'm open to changing things for the next show if need be. I do plan to have a nice show banner once I get past the draft after Backlash. Thank you for anybody who takes the time to read this!

Alright bud, first I wanna say I'm glad you finally got the thread up and your first show posted! You've been talking about this for a while so it's cool to finally check out your hard work.

Having your start point be the night after WrestleMania can be tricky, because you want to be fresh and different, but also have Mania fallout to consider and address. I thought as far as a RAW after Mania episode is concerned, this was fairly tame. Again, you're working off WrestleMania results and have to color inside SOME lines, but I also think a RAW after Mania starting point could have been a good excuse to do something MAJOR to really make a mark with your debut show. It's not a big deal, just maybe my own expectations biting me. Obviously you're laying out some ground work for the future, and it's easy to follow the bread crumbs and see some of the big matches that are to come. After a dozen years of talking about wrestling together, I have a pretty good idea how you think about this stuff, so I know the big matches will be unique and some of the winners will surprise me in fun ways. You really believe in the people you like, so I'm down to see how you build those stars up to where you want them to be. But I will say that the summarized promos could make it hard for me to get invested. Without being able to watch actual wrestling matches, it's the characters and stories that really latch me onto a BTB. Hopefully your superstars get to flourish a little more in that regard going forward.

Things I really liked: Most of RAW's champions were featured in the episode and many already have clear directions forward. Two solid NXT call ups, a squash win for Diamond Mine and a very credible win over Ziggler for Apollo's re-introduction. The youth movement in general on RAW is very apparent, with so many fresh or underutilized talents, and several getting victories. I also feel like importance is being put on the tag division right away. Diamond Mine and Los Lotharios made an impact, Judgement Day are talking about "more gold", the Street Profits are callin their shot... and I'm keeping my eyes on Shelton and Cedric. Not so sure it's a coincidence they have a match on the same RAW where Lashley and MVP start mending fences. Good choices for the RAW Triple Threat. All 3 guys offer something totally different as a challenger for Cody, and while I hope we get around to seeing Cody cross paths with Priest and Lashley... I'm a big fan of the Cody/Rollins pairing and think there's a lot more than can be done with it now that a championship is involved. And if you're going to use Brock Lesnar, I think it's a good idea to revisit the feud with Lashley and do it proper! Feels like backstage politics killed every match they ever had. With that aspect removed here in BTB land, I hope to see one (or more?) proper beefy hoss fights.

Something I'm a little uneasy about is the direction for most of your altered WrestleMania winners. DMG CTRL were outsmarted by Chelsea and Sonya, who themselves had to win a 2nd straight #1 contenders match. Asuka wasn't seen or mentioned on the show. Balor was selling the damage from his Hell in a Cell match which is fair enough. But Cody's presence felt really muted for how massive his victory was. A short "Hey I did it, let's crown a new #1 contender!" and then not much else. And did Ziggler say Cody wasn't cleared to wrestle? Was that explained anywhere? Is Ziggler going to challenge Cody when he is cleared? I also question why Cody, fighting champion or not, would ask for his first defense to be a triple threat match. Doesn't seem very smart. I hope giving all these people big WrestleMania wins they didn't originally have was for a greater purpose other than you just preferring them more. I said it at the top, I know you like your people and wanna push them lol. I feel like ultimately they will get there, but right out of the gate these superstars felt underwhelming coming off the biggest wins of their careers.

Looking forward to see how you do things on the SmackDown side. There's juicy stories to track with Roman's run ending a whole year early, Steenerico as tag champs, Usos future after a historic reign, and Gunther's IC title dominance!

Friday Night Smackdown live from the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon

Smackdown comes on the air and the fans cheer with excitement as Michael Cole welcomes everybody to the show. We quickly cut to the ring after a pan around the arena where Samantha Irvin stands, and introduces the COO of WWE, Triple H! The fans cheer as Triple H heads down to the ring. He cuts right to to the chase and mentions on Raw he announced Adam Pearce as the Raw GM and the return of the WWE Draft after Backlash, and promised more details would be revealed tonight. First of all, when he says everybody is eligibile to be drafted, he means it. That includes champions and NXT Superstars, including those who pop up on Raw or Smackdown in the meantime like Apollo Crews and Diamond Mine.

Second, since Adam Pearce has been named Raw GM, Smackdown is going to need a GM of their own and he thinks he found the perfect man for the job. A man who's a former multi time champion in both singles and tag, and a man who reminds Triple H a little bit of himself, The Glorious One, Robert Roode! The fans cheer with excitement as Roode walks out onto the stage looking sharp in a suit with a blue tie as he heads down the ramp and into the ring, shaking hands with Triple H when he enters the ring.

Roode thanks Triple H for the opportunity and says when he found out he wouldn't be able to continue wrestling, he was disappointed. But then the offer to become GM came and he was thrilled. He says he will build the best roster possible in the draft and make Smackdown the A show. He says his first order of business was choosing the people for the contenders match tonight to see who joins Seth Rollins in challenging Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championshp at Backlash, and he chose Braun Strowman, Karrion Kross and Shinsuke Nakamura. The fans cheer in excitement for this and Smackdown goes to break.

As Smackdown returns from commercial, we go to the ring where Samantha Irvin introduces The Judgement Day, who are already in the ring minus Rhea Ripley, who gets a special introduction from Damian Priest. Rhea comes down to the ring, showing off her newly won Smackdown Women's Championship. She enters the ring and takes the mic. Rhea says at WrestleMania she dominated Charlotte and now, Mami is here to reign over her show. She says anybody who wants a shot is welcome to step up to her, but she'll put them down so she doesn't blame them if they choose not to. She hands the mic to Dominik, but before he can talk, The LWO come out!

The LWO minus Zelina Vega stand on the ramp and Santos says it doesn't sound like anybody wants to hear what Dom has to say, and he knows they don't. He says they ran their mouth about how great they are on Raw and now they think they're gonna come to their show and do the same thing? He doesn't think so. Rey now takes the mic and says for guys who haven't accomplsihed a whole lot they sure do run their mouths a lot. Dom now yells at his father and dares him to give him a rematch at Backlash so he can end his career. Rey says he fought Dom once, he has no reason to do it again. Dom looks angry and Rhea whispers something in his ear, which he smiles and nods to. Dom says if that's the case, maybe they need to give Rey a reason to agree...

The men of Judgement Day now exit the ring and start to head up the ramp, but Cruz takes the mic and says if they want a fight tonight, how about Damian and Dom fight him and Joaquin Wilde in a tag match? Damian and Dom seem to like this idea and agree quickly. Santos now takes the mic and says they aren't the only ones who want a fight tonight...in fact Rhea should probably turn around. In the ring, Rhea slowly turns around...and Zelina Vega leaps off the top rope and takes her out with a diving hurricanrana! Rhea goes down and rolls out of the ring, and Dom slides back into the ring to get her, but Zelina has already bailed! Dom looks angry and goes to check on Rhea, who looks furious, and Zelina waves to her as Cruz and Wilde head towards the ring and Smackdown goes to break.

Match #1:
Tag Team Match
The Judgement Day (Damian Priest and Dominik Mysterio) w/ Finn Balor vs The LWO (Cruz Del Toro and Joaquin Wilde) w/ Rey Mysterio & Santos Escobar)

A solid match with the cruiserweight team using fast paced offense and flying around the ring to keep the heels off balance. Priest takes the advantage back for his team after catching Del Toro trying a springboard, and throwing him out of the ring with a powerslam! Dom now runs around ringside, and pulls Wilde off the apron and throws him into the steps! Balor cackles as Priest and Dom high five.

Later on, Cruz hits a springboard dropkick to take down Dom, then runs across the ring and knocks Priest off the apron to prevent a tag! Dom stumbles to his feet and Cruz bounces off the ropes and goes for a hurricanrana, but Dom blocks it and slams him down face first! Cruz rolls towards his corner but Dom charges Wilde...but Wilde hits a jumping kick to the side of his head to knock him down, and makes the tag! Wilde enters the ring and runs across the ring...hitting a suicide dive on Priest on the floor! Wilde now rolls back into the ring but Dom swings at him, but Wilde ducks and grabs him for a russian leg sweep takedown, and Del Toro enters the ring and hits a jumping spin kick as Wilde hits the leg sweep! Cruz hits a baseball slide dropkick on Priest to knock him down again as Wilde covers Dom...and gets the win!

Winners via pinfall: The LWO!

After a break, we come back and go backstage to The Street Profits, who walk up to Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn and after exchanging pleasantries, Montez mentions they won that showcase at WrestleMania and now, they're #1 contenders and they want their shot, laying down a challenge for Backlash. Owens says he was impressed with them winning that showcase, and they accept the challenge. Dawkins says the real impressive thing will be when they win those titles and cause Owens and Zayn to lose the titles in their first defense. The two teams have a little staredown before we cut away.

As we cut away, we see The Usos walk into the office of Robert Roode. Roode asks how he can help them and Jimmy says they just saw Kevin and Sami agree to a title match against The Street Profits, and they don't think anybody should get a title shot before them. Jey says Roode needs to tell The Profits they have to wait, but Roode says he's not gonna do that, they won their #1 contenders spot fair and square, but he agrees The Usos deserve their rematch. He says he does have an offer for them he thinks they'll like, whoever wins at Backlash will face The Usos on the Smackdown afterwards in their tag title rematch. The Usos like that idea and leave, telling Roode they appreciate him, and we go to the ring for the next match.

Match #2:
Tag Team Match
Hit Row w/ B-Fab vs The Viking Raiders w/ Valhalla

A total squash here as Viking Raiders demolish Hit Row in quick fashion. Top Dolla gets isolated in the ring after a big knee strike from Erik. Ivar looks to finish off Top Dolla as he picks him up for a slam, but Ashonte Thee Adonis runs in and jumps on his back! Ashante punches Ivar in the head to no effect, and he runs backwards into the corner and slams Ashante into the turnbuckles! Erik now comes in and puts Ashante on the shoulders of Ivar for a powerbomb...and Ivar hits a powerbomb on Ashante while hitting a big slam on Top Dolla! Ivar now tags back in Erik, who drags Ashante over then pops Top Dolla up in the air...and Ivar catches him with a Pop Up Powerslam onto Ashante! Erik now covers and gets the win!

Winners via pinfall: The Viking Raiders!

b8f4d39cd17ed3c1ad8b71f7305b610ecb6e4480r1-498-280_hq.gif

Backstage, Gunther talks about his big win at WrestleMania over Sheamus and Drew McIntyre. He admits he went to war against them, but in the end the better man won and he's putting both of them behind him now. He says he doesn't know who his next challenger will be, but he'll be ready for whoever it is, whenever they step up. Gunther says he will go down as the greatest Intercontential Champion of all-time.

We now cut away into the locker room of Ricochet and Braun Strowman, where Ricochet is hyping Braun up for tonight's main event, telling him to run through his opponents and show them the monster he is. Braun is nodding while doing a last minute workout and Ricochet asks Braun if he wants him out there to have his back tonight? Braun says no, he's gonna do this himself, but he appreciates the offer. The big man says tonight, Karrion Kross learns who the real monster around here is and as for Nakamura? He might be the King of Strong Style, but strong style isn't as effective as monster style. We now cut to the ring for the next match of the night.

Match #3:
Singles Match
Zelina Vega vs Rhea Ripley

A fairly quick match here with Rhea dominating from the jump after running over Zelina as soon as the bell rang. Rhea throws Zelina around a bit with a couple biels, then drops her with a big boot! Zelina crawls into the corner but Rhea comes in and chokes her with her boot until the ref pulls her away at the 4 count.

After another minute or 2 of beating, Rhea picks up Zelina onto her shoulders and goes for a powerbomb...but Zelina snaps off a hurricanrana! Rhea gets to her feet, and Zelina hits a running dropkick to knock her through the ropes! As Rhea gets up on the floor, Zelina hits a suicide dive and wipes her out! The finish comes shortly after with Zelina looking for a Code Red, but Rhea shoves her away as she jumps at her, and headbutts her! Rhea now drags Vega to the middle of the ring and pulling her up, looking for Riptide...but Zelina counters into a small package pin....and she steals the win!

Winner via pinfall: Zelina Vega!

After the match: Zelina Vega quickly rolls out of the ring, even shocked herself at pinning the new champ! Rhea sits up and looks PISSED as Zelina turns around and heads up the ramp...but she should have never turned her back on the champ because Rhea slides out of the ring and runs up to attack her! Rhea stomps on Zelina and yells at her for ruining her moment! Zelina tries to crawl away up the ramp...but Rhea picks her up and drops her with Riptide! Rhea laughs as she stands over a laid out Zelina Vega, and we go to commercial.

b8f4d39cd17ed3c1ad8b71f7305b610ecb6e4480r1-498-280_hq.gif

As we return from commercial, we go to a smoky room backstage with Karrion Kross and Scarlett. Scarlett says tonight will be a magical night with Karrion punching his ticket to Backlash by establishing himself as the real monster of Smackdown and the hardest hitter on the brand. Karrion says he's going to choke the life out of his opponents tonight and at Backlash? He's going to bring the darkness and chaos to Cody Rhodes and relieve him of his gold.

We now cut to the ring where New Day stand with Kofi dressed to compete and Woods rubbing his shoulders. Kofi has a mic and says he talked to Robert Roode earlier and tonight he's facing a mystery opponent that Roode organized. He says he doesn't know what surprise Roode has in store for him, but he welcomes the challenge and says he's going to win and New Day are going to get back on track for the tag team titles baybeeee! The fans cheer and Kofi tosses the mic out of the ring as he waits for his opponent...and he gets a surprise as JD McDonagh from NXT comes out!

Match #4:
Singles Match
Kofi Kingston w/ Xavier Woods vs JD McDonagh

A solid match here as JD makes his main roster debut. He gets it taken to him early on by the veteran who after some chain wrestling to start, hits a couple clotheslines then sends JD to the floor with a clothesline over the top rope! JD is clearly frustrated as he stumbles up on the floor, and Xavier Woods taunts him with the trombone. Kofi now comes running and dives over the top rope with a trust fall...but McDonagh sees him coming and pulls Woods in the way so Kofi takes out his own partner! McDonagh now grabs Kofi and throws him head first into the steps! The fans boo loudly.

A few minutes later, McDonagh is working over the head of Kingston in ring and Woods is trying to rally his partner back into the match. JD hits a DDT on Kofi and covers him, but Kofi kicks out at 2. Woods now starts playing the trombone again, but this angers McDonagh who reaches through the ropes and yanks it out of his hands! Woods yells at him to give it back, but he's ignored as JD turns around....right into a jumping double stomp! Kofi covers upon landing, but McDonagh kicks out at 2! Kofi now bounces off the ropes, and hits the boom drop! JD rolls into the middle of the ring as Kofi stalks him for Trouble In Paradise...but when JD gets up, he ducks the kick and it hits the ref!

The ref drops and JD grabs the trombone...and he drills Kofi with it in the back of the head as he gets up! Kofi drops and JD throws the trombone up the ramp, then drags Kingston up...and hits the Devil Inside! He lands the Back Drop Driver! McDonagh pulls the ref up and shakes him awake, then covers Kingston and steals the win!

Winner via pinfall: JD McDonagh!

b8f4d39cd17ed3c1ad8b71f7305b610ecb6e4480r1-498-280_hq.gif

After a break, we go backstage in the interview area to Shayna Baszler. Kayla Braxton asks her about how she's doing after WrestleMania and how Ronda Rousey is doing. Shayna says Ronda is injured, but she'll be back soon. As for herself, she's banged up but she's not out of action. She says she's keeping an eye on what's going on with the tag titles over on Raw, because when Ronda is back, they're coming for those titles and nobody will stop them. We now cut back to the ring for the main event.

Match #5:
Triple Threat Undisputed WWE Universal Championship #1 Contenders Match
Braun Strowman vs Shinsuke Nakamura vs Karrion Kross w/ Scarlett

A good main event here as the three men fight for the right to challenge for the biggest prize in the company. At one point a couple minutes in, Nakamura is firing at both men with strikes, but Braun drops him with a big chop! Kross now picks up Nakamura and launches him over the top rope and out of the ring with an exploder suplex! Kross and Strowman now size each other up, and Kross tells Braun to make a move...and he grabs Kross by the throat! Kross however blocks the chokeslam attempt and grabs Braun by the throat! They wrestle for control, and eventually Braun gets it thanks to his size and ends up tossing Kross into the corner! Braun now charges in and hits a big splash!

A couple minutes later, Braun has put Kross on the top turnbuckle, but Nakamura slides in and hits a jumping knee to the back of Braun, knocking him through the ropes and to the apron! Nakamura now hits a roundhouse kick to daze Kross! He turns his attention now to Braun, and hits a stiff kick into the ribs to knock him off the apron! Shinsuke now climbs up top and goes for a superplex...but Kross fights him off and grabs him by the throat! He chokes Nakamura, then shoves him off the top turnbuckle to the mat! Kross now dives off the top and hits a diving knee! He covers...but Braun pulls him out of the ring at 2 and throws him into the ring post!

A few minutes later, Braun has Nakamura alone in the ring after powerbombing Kross into the ring post. Nakamura stumbles to his feet and hits a series of punches and kicks on Strowman to daze the giant, then hits an enziguri. He sees Strowman is still up and debates what to do...then bounces off the ropes and hits a jumping knee that connects with the jaw of Braun! Nakamura now goes to the corner, possibly preparing to hit the Kinshasa...but Scarlett grabs his leg! Nakamura looks at her, but she refuses to let go! He kicks at her with his free leg, and this makes her let go! Braun however had time to recover, and runs over Nakamura, slamming him into the turnbuckles!

Kross is now up on the floor, but Braun sees him and rolls out of the ring and charges at him, looking to drive him through the barricade...but Kross sidesteps and Braun crashes through the barricade! Kross leans against the ring post, realizing he might have taken the monster out as Scarlett comes over and slips him something and tells him to finish this! Karrion now slides into the ring as Nakamura stumbles to his feet...and Kross decks him with brass knuckles! Nakamura drops and Kross now locks him into the Kross Jacket, and it's just a formality as Shinsuke is already out and the ref calls for the bell!

Winner via submission and NEW #1 Contender: Karrion Kross!

After the match, Scarlett slides into the ring and hugs Karrion, who gets his arm raised much to the displeasure of the fans after taking a dirty route to victory. He walks over to the camera and warns Seth and Cody that doomsday is coming for them at Backlash as Smackdown comes to an end!

SmackDown after WrestleMania!

Robert Roode is a really cool choice for GM. It would be nice to have him on TV and see him interacting with today's superstars. Roode here says his wrestling career is over, but I will quietly be holding out hope that the right story comes along that forces him back for "one more match!"

I can't even remember if Rhea ever appeared on SmackDown irl after winning the title from Charlotte. I know it wasn't long before they rebranded it as the World Title. But the visual of peak Mami on the blue brand feels unique. Keeping her on Friday nights because she technically won SmackDown's title is an easy way to differentiate your 2023. Clearly you're heading toward a Zelina Vega defense at Backlash Puerto Rico. I can see the appeal of keeping that match for the home crowd environment, and right off the bat you have a different build going. I really didn't like seeing Rhea cleanly defeated in a fairly quick match after the biggest victory of her career and all-time match at WrestleMania. WrestleMania 39 was her arrival at the top after building herself back up. Similar to DMG CTRL on RAW, I feel like the momentum of her WrestleMania triumph was sacrificed to quickly elevate someone who isn't close to Rhea's level. It's a damaging loss for the champion, imo. It probably would've been easier for Vega to earn her title shot some other way than it will be for you to recapture Mami's momentum.

Much like RAW, your tag team division is featured as a strength! I'm such a huge fan of the Street Profits, and would love to see them be a centerpiece of this division some day. Steenerico's title reign irl left a lot to be desired, so hopefully you can keep them riding high post-Mania. A strong division across both shows should help achieve that. Sami & KO are top level superstars heading up your tag division, so they can easily main event any weekly show and make it feel big time. They can even main PPVs with the proper story. The Tag Titles here can be elevated to the feel like "World Titles". I'm happy that they accept the Profits challenge without hesitation, as proud fighting champions. Your overall tag division is probably what I'm most interested in so far. It's got so much potential! I'd like to see more tag matches on these shows.

JD McDonagh debuting as a solo act instead of following Judgement Day around is great. He may end up as part of the stable still, but at least he's being given a chance to show who he is on his own and what he's capable of. I appreciate that he and Kofi had a competitive match, and that JD even had to cheat to win. But a trend I notice across both shows is that nearly every single underdog or debuting call up was victorious over established veterans or actual stars. I think you gotta be careful with this. Wrestling is more than wins and losses, but 50/50 booking and start-stop momentum with your stars is gonna make it where no one feels special.

I'm happy that your main event match has been longer in detail on both RAW and SmackDown. It's just a personal preference that I want the main event to feel "bigger" or more important than the other matches. So kudos. The spots in the match were good. I was worried at first that Nakamura would be cast aside for the Kross/Strowman MONSTER-OFF since that's really what this match was built around, but glad he was equally involved. I wish that GM Roode had specified WHY these three men were his pick for the number one contender match. The triple threat on RAW featured a couple of main event guys coming off big Mania wins and even Priest explained he was filling in for injured Balor. So I didn't really question their involvement. These SmackDown guys however, they have no momentum or claim to a title shot, nor were they featured on Mania. Just something as simple as Roode saying he wanted to inject the main event with fresh challengers or re-establish SmackDown as the "land of opportunity" now that Roman's domination has ended would go a long way for me. It's the details and the "why" that really make superstars and matches click. As for Karrion Kross winning and going to the Backlash main event... well you know how I feel about Karrion Kross lol. But I suppose as a wild card mixed into the established history of Rhodes and Rollins he works for adding an interesting new layer. What I'm most looking forward to with this cross branded Triple Threat is how it plays out across TV between now and Backlash. Specifically for the champion. Cody having two separate feuds going at the same time would be reminiscent to the original brand split where Big Evil Undertaker was feuding with the likes of Jeff Hardy and RVD on RAW, while dealing with guys like Triple H and Kurt Angle on SmackDown. I could imagine myself being tapped in to that type of challenge for the new World Champion, and especially when it all crashes into one big conflict at the PPV.

Overall I think I enjoyed SmackDown quite a bit more than RAW. Feels like there were more stars involved and bigger angles, where RAW was mostly used to elevate NXT call ups. Pretty quick read as well.

I think Roode is a great choice for GM. Original choice, and feels really fresh because of that, so good stuff there.

Not a big fan of two long promo segments to start the show back to back though if I'm honest.

Usos/Street Profits/Owens and Zayn/The New Day/variations of Judgment Day/Viking Raiders... Tag division is pretty damn great. Off to a good start tonight and looking forward to seeing how it progresses over time.

Eh, Vega as Ripley's first challenger (I assume that's what's happening after the shock win here) doesn't do much for me. Feel like this booking works better if the dominant champion has had a lengthy run and doesn't really have anybody left to face. Ripley going from the biggest win of her career against Charlotte to losing to Vega a few days later just feels like a real momentum killer, and like a bit of a letdown. Plus Vega isn't exactly the most exciting first challenger either.

I'm good with the JD McDonagh call up. Kind of hoping you keep him away from Judgment Day for freshness reasons more than anything.

I have no issues if Ronda comes back, but I don't care if she doesn't either.

I'm not the biggest Kross fan but his whole evil thing probably is a really good contrast to the goody two shoes nature of Cody's character at this point. Will watch this program, with the added inclusion of Seth, with interest.

Off to a solid start, looking forward to more.

Monday Night Raw live from Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington

As Raw comes on the air, very quickly the typical intro gets cut off when Bobby Lashley's music hits and he storms down to the ring, dressed for a fight! Lashley quickly enters the ring with a mic and yells for his music to cut. He says last week he was moments away from punching his ticket to Backlash, and then Brock Lesnar showed up to attack him. He says he knew he had unfinished business with Brock after Elimination Chamber a couple months ago, but he was going to wait until he got gold around his waist again. But since Brock wants to come back for more, he'll just have to put him down now. He calls out Brock Lesnar to fight right now and says he knows he's backstage, and dares him to get his ass out here.

Brock Lesnar comes out a moment later, and he bounces from foot to foot on the stage, then takes off his cowboy hat and runs down the ramp! Lesnar slides into the ring and Lashley jumps on him instantly! Lashley pounds on his back until Lesnar shoves him away and then tackles him! Adam Pearce now comes out onto the stage and sends refs running down the ramp to split them up! Lesnar is pounding on Lashley when refs slide into the ring and try to pull him off...but Brock starts decking refs! Brock throws the refs out of the ring 1 by 1...but this gives Lashley time to get up and he cuts Brock down with a Spear!

Brock goes down and Lashley rolls out of the ring to grab a chair as security now comes running down the ramp to break them up! Lashley gets back in the ring and smashes a security guard with a chair in the ribs, then another one gets a chair to the back! Lashley now turns his attention back to Brock and slams the chair across his ribs! More security now enters the ring and they get the chair away from Lashley and pull him away while Brock starts getting up and is held back...but Brock breaks free and dives onto Lashley and takes him down! The two men brawl for another few minutes before refs and security finally manage to pull them apart after Adam Pearce gets in the ring and threatens to suspend them if they don't stop! Adam Pearce says clearly they have unfinished business and he's going to let them settle it at Backlash!

The fans cheer for this and both Lashley and Brock love the idea, but Adam Pearce says after last time ended in a DQ, he's going to make sure this one ends this once and for all...because they're going to face off in a Fight Pit Match! The fans cheer louder for this and both men are nearly licking their chops at the idea of getting each other in the cage and Raw goes to break.

As Raw comes back from break, we go to the ring for our first match of the night. After the events of last week, we'll have Santos Escobar looking for revenge on Dominik Mysterio.

A solid back and forth match albeit short. At one point Dom is dominating, hitting a splash in the corner before dragging Escobar up and hitting a snap suplex! Dom rolls through and drags Santos back up and snaps off the second amigo! Dom rolls through and back up, shimming his shoulders before attempting the third amigo...but Escobar counters with a knee to the face as Dom lifts him! Santos now hits a couple dropkicks on Dom, then waits for him to get up and shoots him off the ropes...and hits a tilt a whirl backbreaker! Santos covers him, but Dom kicks out at 2.

Shortly after, Dom has fought back into it and drops Escobar onto the middle rope, then points at Rey and tells him he'll show him how to hit the 619! Dom now runs across the ring, bouncing off the ropes and coming back for the 619...but Santos catches his feet! Santos drags Dom through the ropes, and lifts Dom onto his shoulders...Phantom Driver! Santos covers...but just before the 3, Priest slides into the ring and attacks him for the DQ!

Winner via DQ: Santos Escobar!

After the match, Damian Priest pounds on Escobar but Rey slides into the ring and attacks him! Rey tries to fight off Priest, but as he knocks Priest into the ropes, Dom is back up and clotheslines his father! Cruz Del Toro and Joaquin Wilde now slide into the ring and brawl with Dom and Priest...but Balor has a chair and cracks it across Wilde's back! He now turns to Del Toro and cracks him with the chair! Rhea now slides two more chairs into the ring...and as soon as she does, Zelina jumps off the stairs at the champ, only to get caught and slammed onto the announce table!

Judgement Day now take the chairs and beat the hell out of LWO, leaving them all laying! With all of them laid out now, Rhea hands Dom a mic and he says he still wants revenge on his father, but Mami reminded him that he has to get revenge on someone else too...Bad Bunny! Dom says he didn't forget that Bad Bunny stuck his nose in his business at WrestleMania and he dares the artist to show up next week to answer for what he did! Dom now throws the mic down onto Rey, and we go to commercial.

As we come back from the break, we see Damage CTRL walking backstage. They find Candice LeRae talking to Maxxine Dupri. Bayley tells Maxxine to leave or get beaten up, and she chooses to leave. Candice asks Bayley what she wants, and Bayley says after the success of WrestleMania, they're looking to beef up their ranks and they talked, they wanna offer Candice a spot in Damage CTRL. Candice says she's not interested, she doesn't like the way they do things and doesn't want any part of it. Bayley says that's unfortunate and tells Candice she made the wrong choice, she should have joined them....and they attack!

Damage CTRL swarm Candice and beat her down! They stomp the hell out of her, before Bayley grabs her head and slams it into a crate multiple times! Candice is down but they aren't done as Dakota hands Bayley a chair...but before they can do anything, referees come up and stop her! They force Damage CTRL to leave and we cut to the ring for our next match.

Match #2:

Cedric Alexander and Shelton Benjamin vs Diamond Mine w/ Ivy Nile

A fairly quick match here with Cedric and Shelton putting up a fight, but Diamond Mine end up being too much for them to handle. At one point, Cedric hits a diving crossbody on Julius, and Shelton hits a springboard leg drop into a pin, but Brutus breaks it up at 2. Shortly after, Cedric goes for a springboard clothesline...but Julius rolls out of the way of it, and then hits a belly to belly suplex! After a break, we go backstage to the interview area where Cathy Kelly stands with Apollo Crews. Cathy welcomes Apollo back to Raw and asks him how he felt about his return to Raw last week. Apollo says it felt good returning to Raw, he says he's grateful for his little run in NXT as it helped him re-group and re-fresh, but he's ready to get back into the thick of things on Raw...or Smackdown if he gets drafted there in a couple weeks. Cathy asks Apollo what his first goal is now that's he's back on Raw, but as he's about to answer, Mustafa Ali comes up and cuts him off!

Mustafa says he's tired of waiting for an opportunity, everybody keeps taking his opportunities and he's fed up. And now Apollo is gonna show up and think he can waltz in and take his spot too? Absolutely not. Apollo says he's not trying to take anybody's spot, but he is planning to set his sights on championship gold sooner or later. Mustafa says Apollo isn't getting anywhere near gold until he goes through him, and challenges him to a match next week. Apollo accepts the challenge, and Mustafa smirks and says he'll see him then, and walks off.

We now cut away to a different area backstage where the challengers for tonight's tag title match, Sonya Deville and Chelsea Green, are standing. Sonya says tonight they prove they really are the best team in this division and beat Becky and Lita, she calls Lita a has been and says Becky is carrying her. Chelsea chimes in and says they know Becky and Lita will under estimate them, but they're taking those titles and finally Adam Pearce will have to show them some respect! Sonya chimes in again and threatens to knock out Trish if she's around and sticks her nose in their business tonight, and the duo now walk off. After they walk off, we see that Nikki Cross was lurking in the shadows behind them, watching them with a creepy smile on her face.

Outside the locker rooms, Johnny Gargano is talking to Dexter Lumis, when Austin Theory walks up and purposely bumps into Johnny to get his attention. Johnny turns around and asks him what his problem is, and Austin says him. He says he talked to Adam Pearce and since Johnny wants another shot at him so bad, they came up with a way for Johnny to prove himself worthy. Johnny has to win 3 matches over the next 3 weeks against opponents of Theory's choosing, and if he can, he'll face him at Backlash. If not, Johnny can't challenge him as long as he's champ. Johnny says that's ridiculous and questions how Pearce agreed to this. Theory says if he had his way, Johnny would have had to win 3 handicap matches but he didn't get his way. Johnny finally agrees and promises to win these matches just so he can go to Backlash and shut Austin up. He asks who he's facing tonight, and Theory says it's someone Johnny has history with from last year, The Miz. Theory now walks off as we cut to the ring for the next match.

Match #3:
Tag Team Match
Los Lotharios vs The Street Profits

A good tag match here with both teams putting on a show. Los Lotharios take advantage early on after shoving Dawkins into the ring post shoulder first, and it lets them isolate him and work over his shoulder. A couple times Dawkins tries to make a tag, but Angel or Humberto take out Montez. At one point, Angel puts an armbar on Dawkins over the top rope, but breaks at the 4 count, then slides back into the ring and hits a double stomp onto the arm! Dawkins rolls around in pain as Humberto tags in and hits a springboard splash into a pin, but Dawkins kicks out at 2.

As both men get up, Miz pokes Johnny in the eyes, then hits a kick to the head to knock him down! He covers, but he only gets 2 as well.

Gable says he's watched them in NXT and they were very impressive, and he likes what he's seen of them on Raw so far. Julius thanks him for the compliment and says Gable has been an inspiration to them, and they'd love to have a match against Alpha Academy sometime. Gable likes the idea and says they can do it next week if they'd like? Brutus says they're on and the two groups size each other up in a friendly way before we cut away to the ring for the next match.

Mia rolls to the ropes and the champ stalks her, and when Yim gets up she gets taken down into a cross armbreaker, with Asuka rolling her away from the ropes!

scxx7hp.gif

As Raw returns from break, we hear the music of the world champ hit and Cody Rhodes comes out onto the stage! Cody is dressed in a suit with a title over either shoulder and soaks up the cheers from the fans. They sing him to the ring and he stops at the "WHOA!" to hold up both titles. After getting into the ring and grabbing a mic after his music cuts, he says how last week, he tasked the GM's with finding him challengers for Backlash, and they did just that. One challenger will be a man he has a lot of history with in Seth Rollins, and the other will be a new challenge, Karrion Kross.

Cody says he's looking forward to the challenge at Backlash and hopes both men bring the fight, but he intends to walk out of Backlash still champion and head into the draft representing whatever show he gets drafted to proudly. He goes to say more, but suddenly he's cut off by the music of Seth Rollins! Rollins is dressed in a zebra print suit as he heads out onto the stage and swaggers down to the ring with a mic in hand. He gets in and says it's all well and good what Cody intends to do, but those intentions will be spoiled because he's going to stomp Cody's head into the mat and take those titles. Cody reminds Seth he's 3-0 against him, but Seth counters that and says he knows what to expect from Cody now and he won't be under estimating him due to a torn pec. Plus it's not a 1 on 1 match, so really he doesn't even need to pin Cody to take his titles...and suddenly the lights in the arena go out!

A video starts playing on the tron with Scarlett calling Cody and Seth egotistical, and she reminds them that the 3rd man in that match is Karrion Kross, a monster waiting to be unleashed upon the world. Scarlett says their doomsday is coming at Backlash and they'll regret it if they overlook them...and suddenly Cody Rhodes drops! The lights come back on and Kross is in the ring! Seth charges him, but Kross catches him with a right hand to daze him, then picks him up and sends him flying with a Doomsday Saito! Rollins goes down across the ring as Cody gets back to his feet....and Kross grabs him with the Kross Jacket choke! He takes the champ down and slowly, chokes him out! Scarlett now makes her way down the ramp holding an hourglass, and places it in the ring as Kross stands over both of his Backlash opponents as Raw comes to an end!

As we come back from break, we go backstage to Braun Strowman and Ricochet who are with Kayla Braxton in a hallway. She asks Braun about what's next now that he came up just short last week of punching his ticket to Backlash, albeit because of crashing through the barricade? Braun says last week was going to be a win for him, but Kross outsmarted him and moved at the last second, good for him. But they're not done yet and he challenges Kross to face him next week. As for what's next, maybe him and Ricochet will chase the tag team titles, or maybe...but he's cut off as Imperium walk up smugly!

Gunther stands face to face with Braun Strowman, and Kaiser taunts Braun about losing last week and says he's almost as big a loser as his partner here. He says they don't deserve a tag title match because they aren't as good of a team as he and Giovanni Vinci, and the two of them combined aren't even half as good as The Ring General. Braun scoffs and sizes up the IC Champ and says he'd be happy to lay out all 3 of them right now and see who's better...but Ricochet plays peacemaker and tells Braun to keep a cooler head. He turns to Kaiser and challenges him and Vinci to a tag match tonight. Kaiser accepts and we cut away as Cole says there's something going on elsewhere in the building!

Elsewhere, Zelina Vega and Rhea Ripley are brawling! Zelina jumps off a stairwell onto Rhea, wiping her out! Zelina starts pounding on Rhea, but Rhea shoves her off and stumbles to her feet, kicking Zelina away from her. Rhea shakes her head...but Zelina charges her looking to tackle her down the stairs...but Rhea catches her! Rhea carries Zelina away from the stairs and ends up ramming her spine first into a brick wall...then throws her down! Zelina drops and yells in pain as she holds her back, and Rhea laughs. Rhea leans down over Zelina, swatting away Vega's swipe at her and tells her that she's trash, just like her boys in the LWO, and now she's going to take out the trash. Rhea now drags Vega up and headbutts her, then throws her over her shoulder! Rhea walks over to a nearby trash can...and drops Vega into it! Zelina Vega has been stuffed into a trash can and Rhea laughs and walks away as we cut to the ring.

Match #2:
Xavier Woods w/ Kofi Kingston vs JD McDonagh

A match brought on by the actions of McDonagh last week as Woods looks to avenge his partner. JD slides out of the ring at the bell, and runs around ringside to blindside Kofi with a punch! Kofi drops but Woods comes running after him, causing JD to slide back into the ring and blast Woods with a kick to the side of the head as he slides into the ring! McDonagh takes it to Woods for the next couple minutes, including working over his arm. Eventually Woods is in an armbar over the ropes, until the ref forces JD to break at 4. He slides back into the ring and tries to take down Woods into an armbar, but Woods wrestles out of it and hits a dropkick!

Later on, Woods has taken control and has been rolling on offense including the honor roll for a 2 count, but his arm is hurting. He puts JD on the top turnbuckle and climbs up, firing off a punch to his face, but when he goes for a superplex, JD blocks it. JD now grabs the arm of Woods, and jumps off the top turnbuckle to the floor, snapping the arm of Woods off the ropes! Woods yells in pain and falls to the mat, as JD slides back into the ring and quickly locks in a fujiwara armbar! Woods is in trouble as JD leans back on the hold, but Kofi pounds the mat telling him to fight out of it. Woods tries to get to the ropes, but JD breaks the hold and drags him to the middle of the ring, and tries to lock in the hold again...but Woods counters into a backslide pin...but McDonagh kicks out at the last second!

Woods and McDonagh both get to their feet and Woods goes for a kick to the head, but JD ducks it and hits a headbutt! Woods goes down but JD grabs his arm and drags him back up...and hits The Devil Inside! Kofi looks disappointed as JD calls him a loser and covers Woods and gets the pin.

Winner via pinfall: JD McDonagh!

After a break, we return to the backstage area where Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville are showing off their newly won titles to anybody who walks by and talking about how they destroyed Lita and Becky Lynch, when suddenly Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez walk up. Liv congratulates them on the win but says her and Raquel want a title opportunity. Chelsea laughs and says no, they don't deserve an opportunity and they aren't a charity case just handing out title opportunities. Shayna Baszler now walks up and says she actually agrees with Chelsea, they don't deserve an opportunity. Raquel asks who does then? Her and Ronda? Liv says Ronda isn't even here because she's hurt and Shayna says she could win the titles off these losers by herself. Sonya gets angry and says that's not true, but Liv cuts Sonya off and says if that's true then Shayna would have no problem beating her next week, right? Shayna laughs and says it's Liv's funeral, she's on. The two go face to face as we cut away back to the ring for our next match of the evening.

Match #3:
Singles Match
Santos Escobar vs Finn Balor w/ Rhea Ripley

As soon as the bell rings, Escobar charges Finn and starts pounding on him in the corner with Finn just trying to cover up until the ref pulls Escobar out of the corner, and Finn bails out of the ring to regroup with Rhea. Santos now rolls out of the ring to go after Finn, but Rhea steps in the way! Rhea doesn't let Escobar past her and dares him to hit her, which he thinks about, but refuses. This however leaves an opening for Balor to run around ringside and jump off the steps, driving his knee into the back of Santos! Santos goes down and Balor stomps on him while Rhea laughs.

A couple minutes later, the match is back in the ring and Balor is taunting the fans after taking down Santos with a DDT. Escobar stumbles to his feet and Balor hits a snap suplex! Dom rolls through and gets back up, a second suplex! He now goes for the third amigo...but Escobar blocks and hits a suplex of his own! Santos now stalks Finn, waiting for him to get up...and he scoops him up onto his shoulders for the Phantom Driver...but Balor slides down the back and rolls him up for a quick 2 count. Balor gets back to his feet first and shoots off the ropes...taking out Escobar with a slingblade! Balor now goes up top, potentially looking to finish this...but Santos jumps up and shoves him off the top onto the apron hard!

Escobar now reaches over to pull Balor up...but Rhea grabs the legs of Escobar and trips him! The ref yells at Rhea, but she holds her hands up acting innocent. Suddenly though, the fans cheer as Zelina Vega runs down the ramp and jumps onto the back of Ripley! Vega starts pounding on Ripley, and takes her down to the floor! Zelina rolls off Rhea, who stumbles to her feet, and Zelina pulls off her shoes, and throws them at Rhea! Rhea runs up the ramp with Vega following her! Meanwhile in the ring, Finn kicks Escobar in the head as he gets up! Finn now goes to the top rope for the Coup de Grace...but Escobar rolls out of way!

Finn goes down holding his leg as his knee buckles. But Escobar gets up, and when Balor stumbles up, Escobar scoops him up onto his shoulders, and drops him with the Phantom Driver! Escobar covers...and gets the win!

Winner via Pinfall: Santos Escobar!

After a commercial break, we go back to the ring for our final match of the evening as Imperium take on Braun Strowman and Ricochet in tag team action.

Match #4:
Tag Team Match
Imperium (Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci) vs Braun Strowman and Ricochet

Good back and forth match here as both teams try to prove something while establishing themselves in the tag team rankings. The faces dominate early on including Strowman hitting a double clothesline to knock Imperium to the floor and set up Ricochet to dive onto them over the top rope to wipe them out! But while on the action is on the floor, Ricochet gets taken out by a chop block from Kaiser, and Vinci hits a back suplex onto the stairs to take him out!

With the numbers game against him, Strowman still puts up a good fight but when Kaiser comes in illegally to distract Braun by eating a right hand, it lets Vinci hit a jumping knee to the back to knock the big man down! Vinci pounds on him, then stomps on him to keep him down, then goes up to the second rope and drops an elbow onto his back! Vinci rolls the giant over and covers....but Braun kicks out at 1!

Later on, the finish comes with Ricochet legal and having been isolated for a bit as they work over his knee. Kaiser locks him into a single leg boston crab, and Ricochet is in trouble! Kaiser leans back on the hold, pulling Ricochet's leg up higher...but just as it looks like he might tap, he manages to roll over and kick Kaiser away to escape the hold! Ricochet is up and ducks a punch, then hits a jumping enziguri! Kaiser falls to his corner and makes a tag to Vinci...but Ricochet dives to tag in Braun! Braun cleans house, wiping out Vinci with a big shoulder block before grabbing Kaiser and flipping him into the ring!

Braun throws both members of Imperium into the corner, then charges in with a big splash! Braun now grabs both men by the throat...double chokeslam! Braun now stacks both men up, and tags in Ricochet who goes up top. climbs onto the shoulders of Braun...and then hits a Skyscraper Senton on Imperium! Ricochet covers Vinci as Braun plants his hands on his shoulders, and they get the pin!

Winners via pinfall: Braun Strowman and Ricochet!

After a commercial break, we go backstage to the tag champs, as they walk down the hallway but run into their #1 contenders, The Street Profits! Montez asks if they're ready for Backlash? Dawkins says the WrestleMania win was impressive by Kevin and Sami, but they're coming for those titles and taking them. They're a well oiled machine in the ring and haven't stopped teaming since they started. Sami says he's sure it'll be a great match, but they don't plan to roll over and hand over these belts they worked so hard to win. Kevin says if they're so full of themselves, why doesn't one of them face him next week in a singles match? Ford says he wants the smoke and accepts, the two teams stare each other down.

We cut away to Bobby Roode's office, where we see Zelina Vega walk out. Kayla Braxton asks her what she was talking about in there? Zelina says she just got exactly what she wanted, at Backlash she'll be facing Rhea Ripley for the Smackdown Women's Championship! She says Rhea embarrassed her by throwing her in the trash earlier tonight, and she has beat her down multiple times, at Backlash she's coming for revenge. Zelina says getting a title match in her hometown means everything to her and she's going to put all her heart into it to beat Rhea, humble her and get revenge for herself and the entire LWO. The fans cheer for the announcement before we cut to commercial.

b8f4d39cd17ed3c1ad8b71f7305b610ecb6e4480r1-498-280_hq.gif

Back from the break, In ring Bobby Roode stands behind a podium with a table in front of him with Karrion Kross and Scarlett sitting on one side of the table, while Seth Rollins and Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Cody Rhodes sit on the other. Roode tells them he expects everyone to sign the contract to make their match at Backlash official and to keep things civil while doing so.

Cody speaks first, and says both men earned their way into this match, albeit with Karrion using brass knuckles to knock out Shinsuke. He says he knows at Backlash anything goes and both of them will try to tear him apart, but he didn't bust his ass to get back from injury and finish his story just to lose the titles right away, and they'll have to break him to beat him. He signs the contract and Karrion now speaks, and says he didn't need brass knuckles to knock out Shinsuke, he just felt like it. He could have choked the life out of Nakamura just like he'll do to both of them at Backlash when he completes his rise to the top and a darkness falls upon WWE. He says what happened on Raw was a warning to them, they will beg for mercy and he will put them down like sick dogs. Kross signs the contract and slides it over to Rollins.

Rollins laughs and says Karrion is all talk and no action. He isn't even worried about him because he knows he can beat Karrion. Seth then turns to Cody and says he knows Cody has beat him 3 times, but he's not the same man he was when he faced Cody, and he learned from those matches. At Backlash he's going to outsmart Cody and he's going to take his titles...the only question is if he pins him or just takes him out and pins Kross? Seth signs the contract and hands it over to the boss. Roode wishes them all luck and leaves the ring...and as soon as he does, Kross flips the table onto his opponents!

Karrion jumps up out of his seat, and Scarlett leaves the ring as Kross boots Seth in the head, knocking him through the ropes and out of the ring! Cody meanwhile is up and fires off a couple punches on Kross, then springboards off the ropes...but Kross catches him with a spinebuster! Kross now pulls brass knuckles out of his jacket pocket and slips them on...but Rollins hits a springboard knee! Kross goes down and Cody gets up, and he stares down Seth. The two think about trading blows, but when they see Kross getting up they decide to work together, and Cody hits him with a Cody Cutter! Seth now bounces off the ropes...Curb Stomp! Kross is down and the champ and his longtime rival go face to face again, but no violence occurs and they simply stare each other down as Smackdown ends.

MONDAY NIGHT RAW REVIEW
(From the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California)

First, it’s been a while since I’ve read a BTB of yours, so I’m excited to finally delve into this project and give you my thoughts. Let’s get to it.

I like the changes you made to your Mania card. I can agree with every change you made and don’t have any issues with it.

For the opening of Raw, I was expecting a little bit more since it was such a historic moment that went down in the main event of Mania. Roman and his historic title reign and Cody coming in to finish his story. I like that Cody wants to be a fighting champion, but even now, he’ll probably want to bask in the glory for a bit longer. So while I can understand getting down to business, I would’ve liked to have seen the extravagance that WWE usually puts on when big things happen. But the triple threat match sounds good to me.

Hell yeah, Diamond Mine on the main roster. They were always going to win their debut. I look forward to seeing what you have planned for this team.

Good exchange between Theory and Gargano. Pretty straightforward story here with the mentee sort of surpassing the mentor. Wouldn’t mind a match between these two.

Fine enough segment here with Judgment Day and LWO. Wanted to point out the trust Priest was talking about here. I doubt Priest is going to win, but putting him in high profile matches like that may not be good with Finn in the long run. Much like what’s happening in real life, can see the conflict happening soon here.

Lashley’s a solid hand to have as he’s a credible name for your main event scene. Wouldn’t mind seeing a hoss battle between him and Priest now that I think about it.

Loser Control. Ha. That got a chuckle out of me. Not a bad match here, but feel like this could’ve maybe been two title defenses down the line as credible women’s tag teams are kinda sparse right now. But alas, fine for what it is. Maybe this all ends up being a triple threat tag team match.

Aww Ziggler doing the job to Apollo Crews. Can’t say I’m a fan of that, but understand why you chose to do it. Not a fan of Apollo Crews either. So a lot of meh for me here, but again, understand why it was done.

You really dislike Logan Paul lol. Seth makes some good points in what was probably the strongest promo so far on the show.

Not surprised with the winners of the womens tag team #1 contenders match. Could this be the beginning of the implosion of Damage CTRL?

Woo Street Profits. More of them please.

Interesting stuff here with Lashley and MVP. Was a big fan of this pairing and thought it could’ve gone on for much longer, which seems to be the route you’re taking here. If so, I don’t mind it. I’m intrigued, so watching this space here.

I want to say the placement of HHH showing up, promoting Adam Pearce to Raw GM, and announcing the draft is weird, but I think if you’re not doing it at the start of the show, this is probably a good spot for it too. Again, I was looking for more here as it’s usually a big deal when HHH shows up. I think moving forward, that’s how it should go, but I can appreciate your approach to getting down to business.

Well damn. Brock’s got some unfinished business with Lashley, alright then. Always enjoy some hoss battles, so looking forward to that one. Found it interesting that Brock didn’t go after everyone else in the match as he usually does that kind of thing. We know the history he has with Rollins and he could’ve had something new by attacking Priest as well.

Overall, a fine first show for this BTB. It was easy to read, which I appreciated. I think if there was one more big segment or one more 10-minute match, it’d feel a lot more like a three-hour episode of Raw. I’m looking forward to really delving into this project of yours and seeing where you take things. Keep at it!

Monday Night Raw Live from the Simmons Bank Arena in Little Rock, Arkansas

As Raw comes on the air, quickly the music of The Judgement Day hits and they head down to the ring to loud boos after their actions on Smackdown, minus Rhea Ripley. The trio of men enter the ring and after taking a moment to soak in the boos, Damian brags about the fact they put Cruz Del Toro and Joaquin Wilde on the shelf with their attack in the parking lot. He says that was just a warning because if Rey Mysterio and Santos Escobar don't stay out of their way, they'll be taken out next. After some more boos, Dom takes the mic and after a failed attempt to talk due to loud boos, he finally manages to say the reason they're out here is because they need to talk to Bad Bunny about his actions at WrestleMania, and they heard he's here. So why doesn't he get his ass out here to explain himself?

After a few moments of waiting, the music of Bad Bunny hits and he comes out onto the stage to big cheers from the fans! Bad Bunny walks down the ramp as Priest says something to Dom privately, and Dom nods in agreement. Bad Bunny enters the ring with a mic and asks if they have a problem? Priest chimes in first and mentions previously teaming with Bad Bunny, and says they don't have a problem, Dom's just a hot head. But he explained to Dom that what happened at Mania probably wasn't personal, it was just Bunny getting caught up in the moment right? Bunny thinks for a second, then agrees it wasn't personal...but it was him doing the right thing. He wasn't gonna sit back and let Dom use a chain on Rey. Rey is his friend and he was doing the right thing taking the chain away from Dom. It's not his fault that led to Dom losing. Dom is angry now and yells at Bad Bunny to say he cost him the win at WrestleMania and he should have stayed in the crowd and minded his own business! But he's a forgiving guy, he'll give Bad Bunny a chance to apologize. If he does that, they can move on. If not, they're gonna have problems...

Bad Bunny notices Balor and Priest watching him, and Priest tells him to just apologize, don't make him do something he doesn't wanna do. Bunny looks over at Balor, who just glares at him. He now looks back at Dom, who tells him again to apologize...and Bad Bunny actually does say sorry....sorry Dom's such a bad son and doesn't have any respect for his father! The fans cheer but Dom is furious and punches Bad Bunny! Dom kicks Bad Bunny out of the ring and follows him out with Balor...but as they go to get him, Bunny has pulled out a kendo stick from under the ring and smacks Balor in the ribs! Bunny gets up and cracks it over the back of Dom! Suddenly though, Damian Priest runs over Bad Bunny with a clothesline! Priest now picks Bunny up...and launches him spine first into the ring post!

The fans are booing now as Priest uncovers the announce table, then grabs Bad Bunny by the throat and pulls him up...and chokeslams him through the table! Dom now comes over and grabs a chair, and quickly wraps it around the neck of Bad Bunny...but the LWO's music hits and Rey Mysterio runs down the ramp with Santos Escobar, both of them holding kendo sticks! Seeing as they already sent a message to Bad Bunny, Judgement Day hop the barricade and exit through the crowd, choosing not to fight! Mysterio and Escobar yell at them to come back, and Santos grabs a mic and dares Balor and Priest to fight them right now! Balor and Priest nod as doctors come out to check on Bad Bunny and Raw goes to break.

As Raw comes back from break, we go to the ring as we prepare for our first match of the evening.

Match #1:
Tag Team Match
Rey Mysterio and Santos Escobar vs Finn Balor and Damian Priest w/ Dominik Mysterio

A solid tag match here with the faces fired up and taking control early by knocking Finn and Damian to the floor, then hitting stereo dives onto them! After things get back in the ring with Escobar and Priest legal, Dom grabs his father and throws him into the steps! The fans boo and Dom acts innocent when the ref turns to look at him, but this lets Judgement Day take control due to the numbers and Escobar being hit with a double suplex.

Later on, Rey is legal but has been cut off from Escobar for awhile as Finn hits the shotgun dropkick to knock him into the turnbuckles! Balor now tags in Priest then goes up top as Priest grabs Rey by the throat and pulls him up...but Rey slips out of the chokeslam attempt and shoves Priest into the ropes, crotching Balor on the top! Rey now dropkicks Priest through the ropes and to the floor, then goes over and tags in Santos!

Santos enters the ring and runs over to shove Balor off the top turnbuckle to the floor! Priest meanwhile slides back into the ring, spins Escobar around and grabs him by the throat...but Escobar slips out and dropkicks him in the knee! Escobar now tries to lift Priest onto his shoulders...but Priest slips off and hits a spin kick to knock him down! The finish comes shortly after when Balor tags back in and goes up top for Coup de Grace, but Escobar gets up and kicks Balor in the head! Santos now knocks Priest off the apron, then climbs up and tries to superplex Balor…but Dom jumps on the apron and pulls his foot out from under him, causing him to fall to the mat! Finn now stands up and comes down with the Coup De Grace! Finn covers…and gets the pin!

Winners via pinfall: The Judgement Day!

After the match: The fans boo as Dom slides in and stomps on Escobar, but Rey comes in to grab his son and throw him out of the ring! Priest now slides in and clobbers Rey in the back of the head! Priest pounds on Rey as Balor gets up and attacks Escobar, and Dom throws 2 chairs into the ring! Dom now slides in as Balor puts the chair on the ribs of Escobar, and Dom goes up top...Frog Splash onto the chair! Escobar rolls away holding his ribs as Dom takes the other chair and slams it over the back of his father over and over and over again! With their opponents laid out, Judgement Day leaves the ring!

After a commercial break, we go backstage to Cody Rhodes, who's walking down a hallway when Baron Corbin comes up to him. Corbin says he heard Cody is looking for a match tonight, so why doesn't he face him? Cody says he is looking for a match so he's happy to accept. Corbin says in fact why don't they up the stakes? If he beats Cody, he wants to be added to the Backlash title match. Cody thinks for a second, then agrees, saying if Corbin can beat him he deserves that. He says he'll see him later tonight and goes to leave...but Corbin shoves him into an equipment box ribs first! Corbin says he's looking forward to it and leaves, happy with just taking a potshot at the champ and we cut away.

In another part of the building, Alpha Academy are talking backstage about their upcoming match with the Creed Brothers, when Maxxine Dupri walks up and hugs Otis. She then tells Chad she's been thinking about it, and she's ready to begin training to become a wrestler and asks Chad if he would train her. Chad looks over at Otis, who nods in approval, then agrees, saying he'll teach Maxxine their ways and make her a master wrestler just like them. She lets out a squeal of excitement and hugs him and thanks him, and he tells her to accompany them to ringside for their match tonight. We now cut back to the ring for our 2nd match of the night where Apollo Crews and Mustafa Ali will look to gain some footing in their pursuit of championship gold.

Match #2:
Singles Match
Apollo Crews vs Mustafa Ali

A back and forth match at the start with neither man gaining true advantage until Crews uses his power to his advantage and catches Ali coming at him off the middle rope, and pressing him over his head then dropping him onto the mat, before following up with a standing moonsault! Crews covers but his early pin only gets 2. Apollo controls the next bit, but when he throws Ali into the corner and charges in after him, Ali sidesteps and Crews goes face first into the turnbuckles and Ali rolls him up for a close 2 count.

The finish comes shortly after with Mustafa going for a slingshot neckbreaker on Crews, but Crews blocks it with a clothesline! Apollo now goes for a standing shooting star...but Mustafa blocks it with knees to the ribs! Apollo rolls away and Mustafa is up first, superkick! Apollo drops and Mustafa drags him to the corner, then goes up top for the 054…but Apollo gets the knees up! Apollo now grabs a small package pin…and he gets the victory!

Winner via pinfall: Apollo Crews!

scxx7hp.gif

As we return from the commercial break, we go backstage to Nikki Cross walking down the hallway. The tag champs Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville, now walk past and purposely bump into her! Nikki asks what their problem is and Chelsea calls her a freak who doesn’t belong here. Nikki gets angry and says she’s not a freak, Chelsea is a freak, and an annoying one too. Chelsea gets offended but Sonya steps in front of her and says she’s not going to tolerate Nikki talking bad about her partner. Sonya challenges Nikki to a match next week and she accepts. Sonya says she’s going to destroy Nikki, but why wait till next week? They could destroy her right now…but Piper Niven walks up! Piper asks if there’s an issue? The champs say no and walk off as Nikki quickly hugs Piper.

Nikki says she misses playing with Piper, and tells her she should come out with her for her match next week. Piper says she was willing to stick up for Nikki because of their history, but she’s not interested in reuniting their team. Nikki tries to persuade her, telling her they could win the tag titles if she was willing to reconsider. Nikki tells her to just think about it, and Piper sighs and agrees to think about it, but tells Nikki not to hug her again as we cut away to the interview area.

In the interview area. Cathy Kelly is with Becky Lynch. She asks her for her thoughts about losing the tag titles last week, and Becky says it sucks, but she won't let it keep her down. Her and Lita might decide to go get a rematch, or maybe she'll set her sights on Rhea Ripley or Asuka, or maybe...but she's cut off by a loud BANG!

Becky and Cathy go running to see what happened, and they find Lita down face first on the ground knocked out! Becky checks on the hall of famer, then looks around but doesn't see anybody. Becky promises to get revenge for Lita, and we cut away to the medics office.

We see Bad Bunny, Rey Mysterio and Santos Escobar all getting checked on, but Escobar hops off the table and says he's had enough of Judgement Day and they need to handle them once and for all. Rey asks what he has in mind? And Santos says the three of them vs The Judgement Day, at Backlash, in a Street Fight! Rey says he's in, he wants to squash this problem with his son once and for all. They turn to Bad Bunny asking if he's in, and he says he wasn't looking to get back in the ring, but after tonight he's in! They fist bump each other as we cut out of the locker room and to the ring for our next match as Johnny Gargano tries to get one step closer to facing Austin Theory.

Johnny Gargano makes his entrance and stands in the ring, when Austin Theory comes out onto the stage and says tonight Johnny will be facing another man he has history with, Bronson Reed!

Match #3:
Singles Match
Johnny Gargano vs Bronson Reed

Old rivals collide here and Bronson dominates the majority of the match, throwing Gargano around the ring along with squashing him with a corner splash and a running senton at different points, but Gargano keeps fighting and keeps kicking out. At one point Reed brings Gargano to the top turnbuckle and climbs up, looking to hit a super samoan drop...but Gargano slides out of it and down the back of Reed, then pulls the big man's head down and superkicks him! Gargano now superkicks him again, this time knocking the big man off the top rope!

Gargano now goes up top himself, frog splash! Gargano covers, but Reed kicks out at 2! Later on, Gargano is looking to finish off the big man after a slingshot spear, then goes back to the apron, stalking Bronson before going for the One Final Beat slingshot DDT...but Reed doesn't go down and instead, pulls Gargano up and rams him into the turnbuckles! Gargano slumps against the turnbuckles and Reed charges him, big corner splash!

The finish comes shortly after when Bronson hits a samoan drop, then goes up top for the Tsunami....but Gargano rolls out of the way! Gargano gets up, Superkick to a kneeling Reed! Gargano now goes out to the apron and waits for Bronson to get up...One Final Beat! It hits this time! Bronson Reed finally looks to be done for after 3 finishers, and Gargano covers...and he finally puts the big man away!

Winner via pinfall: Johnny Gargano!

After the match, Johnny Gargano gets his hand raised in victory while his other hand holds his banged up ribs after the brutal match. Suddenly his celebration is cut off as US Champion Austin Theory slides into the ring behind him, and smacks him in the back of the head with the US Title! Theory laughs and stands over Gargano, then picks up a mic and tells him he might have gotten this far, but he won't win next week and earn his title match because next week, Johnny Gargano will face Omos in a No DQ match! He wishes Johnny luck then leaves as Raw goes to break.

scxx7hp.gif

As we return from break, we go into a video showing a sit down interview Cathy Kelly did with Bobby Lashley. Cathy thanks Bobby for his time, then asks him about this months long feud he's been in with Brock Lesnar. Bobby says him and Lesnar is a case of two alpha dogs trying to establish their dominance. He says in a way he's glad that Lesnar attacked him a couple weeks ago, because he wasn't satisfied with how things ended at Elimination Chamber and it pushed him to finish his business with Brock.

Cathy mentions they'll be meeting in one of the most brutal match types in WWE, The Fight Pit. She reminds Bobby the only ways to win are submission or knockout, and given their MMA history both are familiar with those type of rules. She asks Bobby how he feels about entering the fight pit for the first time? Bobby says he's looking forward to it. One way or another this will be the end of his feud with Brock and only one of them is walking out of there and it will be him. Cathy asks him about his game plan for the match, but Bobby says he can't reveal that, but promises he will slay the beast and prove this is his show. The interview now ends.

We cut away into Adam Pearce's office where he's meeting with Raw Women's Champion Asuka, and Bianca Belair. Adam Pearce says he called them here to discuss Bianca's rematch, which is coming to her at Backlash. He says he's not happy with what went down at WrestleMania, and for that reason he's banning the mist at Backlash, and if Asuka uses it she will lose the title! Bianca is very pleased with this, Asuka surprisingly doesn't look phased and simply says she doesn't need that to win. Bianca promises to take her title back and the two glare at each other until we cut to the ring for a tag team showcase.

Match #4:
Tag Team Match
Alpha Academy w/ Maxxine Dupri vs The Creed Brothers w/ Ivy Nile

A technical wrestling masterclass here as both teams really showcase their ability. Alpha Academy use their experience to keep control early on, but after a missed splash in the corner from Otis, he gets hit with a german suplex from Julius Creed which makes the crowd roar with approval and shock! Julius tags in his brother and together, they hit a double snap suplex on the big man for a 2 count.

Later on, Gable has Brutus in the Ankle Lock, looking to make him tap out...but Brutus rolls out of it and sends Gable into the ropes! Brutus gets to his feet, but walks right into a rolling wheel kick from Gable! Gable makes the tag to Otis, who comes in and off the ropes with a splash! He covers Brutus...but Creed kicks out at 2!

The finish comes shortly after when Julius finally gets a hot tag into the match, and he dropkicks Otis! Gable comes in, but he gets launched across the ring with a belly to belly suplex! Gable rolls out of the ring and Julius pulls the straps down as Otis gets up right into a belly to belly suplex from Julius! Julius is rolling as he tags his brother back in, and he goes up top as Julius drags the big man up...right into the Brute Ball! Otis is wiped out and Brutus covers, just as Julius grabs Gable in a front facelock to prevent him breaking it up...and the upstarts win!

WInners via pinfall: The Creed Brothers!

scxx7hp.gif

After a break, we go backstage to Cathy Kelly who stands with Smackdown Women's Champion Rhea Ripley. Cathy asks Rhea about everything that went down on Smackdown last week with Zelina Vega that led to a match being booked for them at Backlash. Rhea says Zelina is a little gnat who won't stay out of her hair, and at Backlash she's going to get squashed like the bug she is. She says Zelina got lucky when she stole a win from her before, and she won't be that lucky at Backlash.

Cathy asks Rhea about the hometown advantage Zelina will have and if that'll effect her? Rhea says absolutely not, if anything it'll fuel her even more to break Zelina's heart. Cathy ends by asking Rhea about the upcoming draft and the thought of being split up from Judgement Day? Rhea says where she goes, her boys in Judgement Day go, whether Pearce and Roode like it or not. They will stay together and run whatever show they're on. Rhea now walks off and we cut to the ring for the main event of the evening.

Match #5:
Singles Match, if Baron Corbin wins he's added to the title match at Backlash
Baron Corbin vs Cody Rhodes (c)

As soon as the bell rings, both men get delayed by the music of Seth Rollins hitting, and him walking out laughing. He makes his way to ringside and takes a seat at the commentary table. In the beginning, Corbin plays mind games with Cody by stepping out of the ring to avoid the champ. Corbin walks around ringside, but Cody gets fed up with the games and hits a suicide dive on Corbin! Cody pounds on Corbin on the floor before pulling him up by his shirt and throwing him into the barricade, angry about the attack earlier tonight! Cody now throws Corbin into the ring and slides in after him, going for an early Cody Cutter...but Corbin catches him and dumps him back out of the ring!

Later on, Corbin is in full control of the match after a couple shots to the ribs of Cody, and he's working him over with an abdominal stretch. Cody is about to fight out of it, when Corbin fires a few punches into the champ's ribs! Corbin cranks on the hold, but Cody finally counters out of it and hits a hip toss! Cody now fires off a couple clotheslines, then comes off the ropes, disaster kick! Corbin drops but Cody isn't done and stalks him...then comes off the ropes again for the Cody Cutter...but Corbin counters it with Deep Six! Devastating counter! Corbin covers....but Cody kicks out at the last second!

The finish comes a couple minutes later after Corbin hammers a few punches into the ribs of Rhodes, then sends him off the ropes and looks for End Of Days...but Cody flips out of it and hits a bionic elbow! Corbin is dazed and Cody springboards again...and this time hits the Cody Cutter! Corbin rolls away and Cody yells for him to get up, stalking him....and he hits Cross Rhodes! Cody covers...and he gets the win!

Winner via pinfall: Cody Rhodes!

After the match, Cody gets his hand raised in victory while holding his ribs with his other hand, but darkness falls upon the arena and Karrion Kross's music hits! The lights come back on, and Kross is behind Cody! Kross hits a forearm to the back of the head! Cody drops and Seth slides into the ring, and he hits a knee to the back to knock Kross through the ropes and to the floor! Seth dares Kross to get back in the ring, but Scarlett walks down the ramp and encourages Kross to leave. Cody starts to get up...but Seth turns around and drops him with a Curb Stomp! Seth picks up the titles and holds them up as Raw ends!

Judgment Day/LWO progression was solid enough on this last show. Inclusion of Bad Bunny makes sense and him in a six man at Backlash works. Think that's good booking to throw the celeb in a multi man match, however would have preferred for him to be out of it after being put through the table, as opposed to having conversations with Rey and co later on in the night.

One of the big things to come out of this show is what happened to Lita? This angle definitely has my attention.

Gargano having to 'earn' his way to a match with Theory continues to be fun.

Solid edition of Raw really.
