SmackDown Live Recap
Wichita, Kansas
Intrust Bank Arena

April 30th 2021

SmackDown Live starts with the signature cold open as The Usos, Naomi, and Tamina arrive at the arena. Kayla Braxton approaches them, asking where Roman Reigns and Jacob Fatu are. Jey tells her Roman will come back when he is ready and Jacob has been banned from the arena by HBK. She goes on to ask them about the calls they have been making recently and asks who the wiseman is, prompting Jimmy to cut the interview short.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HALESTORM – MAYHEM
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Smackdown Live properly begins with a Daniel Bryan promo. Bryan confirms that, in tonight’s main event, he will defend his Men’s Universal title in an open challenge. He speaks about the quality of the SmackDown Live roster and mentions getting phone calls from the so-called Wiseman, but he is interrupted again by The Church of Seth Rollins. Bryan jokes that his open challenge comes later in the night, but Seth Rollins does not respond to the joke.

The Church makes it clear that they are not answering the open challenge tonight and are intent on stopping the disrespect Bryan shows to the belt. Seth tells Bryan the belt should be out of reach, a prize only the best can even approach. Bryan says that if Seth disagrees, he can do something about it, and The Church heads to the ring to attack Daniel Bryan in a five-on-one beatdown.

ALPHA ACADEMY RUNS OUT TO HELP! Chad Gable, Buddy Murphy, and Daniel Garcia rush out to help Bryan in the brawl, but The Church still has the numbers advantage. The fight continues until Damian Priest and Gran Metalik run out to join. This finally forces the Church from the ring. Shawn Michaels then comes out, declares enough is enough, and bans everyone in the ring from being ringside during each other’s matches. He then brings out Nathan Frazer and Damian Priest to compete right now.

Match 1: Damian Priest vs Nathan Frazer

Match summary:
When we return from the commercial break, the match is underway with Nathan showing off his insane agility and high-flying ability in the ring, which early on overwhelms Damian Priest and he struggles to find a way to fight back against the young Brit. In the end, though Damian’s experience and size allow him to take over hitting THE RECKONING for the win!

Winner via pinfall: Damian Priest (7:07)

Damian Priest gets back to his feet and celebrates the victory over Nathan Frazer as the commentary team puts over the run he has been on since coming to SmackDown Live to back up Bad Bunny and wonder if he is getting himself in line for gold in the future.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We then cut to Sonya Deville backstage, who is standing in front of Mandy Rose and Otis Dozovic as she calls out Deonna Purrazzo. She makes it clear that she is not going to stand for what Deonna tried to do to her best friend and she is going to give her a taste of the very same submissions. In the background, Otis is making sure Mandy’s arm is OK whilst they look at each other with loving eyes until Tucker Knight comes into the room, interrupting this conversation. He says they need to go and get ready for their number one contender’s match, looking a bit annoyed. Otis agrees and Mandy gives him a kiss goodbye, ending the segment.

When we return from the commercial break, Byron Saxton approaches the WWE Women’s tag team champions, looking for an interview with the duo. He congratulates them on their victory on Sunday and says that if they retain their titles tonight, they will surpass the record for the longest WWE Women’s tag team champions. Sasha says it is only fitting that the two people responsible for these belts existing are the ones with the longest reign and prove they are the greatest tag team champions of all time.

Bayley turns to her questioning that line as Sasha says that Bayley may forget that from time to time but they are the best in this division even over the likes of Conti, Ripley, Belair, Charlotte and Becky. Bayley nods smiling, though it is a bit unhinged as a smile goes. Byron then asks them about what Bayley did to Dakota Kai and puts her out of action for 6 weeks, saying it is very unlike her. Bayley isn’t sure how to respond, but Banks steps in saying Bayley did what she needed to do to make sure we are still champions and quickly ends the interview, taking Bayley with her as we cut back to the ring.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Match 2: Chad Gable vs Apollo Crews

Match summary:
Apollo Crews comes into this match with something to prove against a former 2-time United States Champion, but Chad Gable is looking to work his way back into United States title contention. Throughout the match, Apollo uses his speed and agility to try to catch Gable off-guard but the superior technical ability of Chad Gable wins out as he picks up the win with the Ankle lock!

Winner via submission: Chad Gable (7:19)

Chad Gable gets back to his feet with a smile and celebrates a victory over a very game Apollo Crews tonight. The commentary team also talks about Gable beating someone of a bigger size and that might put him in good standing in a rematch with Jacob Fatu.

When we return from the commercial break, Kayla Braxton is having an interview with Carmella backstage. She asks Carmella about her recent issues with The House of Couture and what she plans to do about it. Before she can answer, THEY ATTACK HER FROM BEHIND! Jinny and Amale lay into Carmella with a few kicks and strikes until MERCEDES MARTINEZ APPEARS HELPING TO FIGHT THEM OFF! The faces stand tall as The House of Couture retreats for now.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Match 3: WWE Women’s tag team titles match: Boss ‘N’ Connection © vs The Medusa Complex

Match summary:
Bayley compared to previous weeks, comes into this match looking a lot more confident, but at the same time acts a lot more aggressively in trying to secure the win for her team. Sasha Banks even has to tell her best friend on a couple of occasions to tone it down a bit. Millie McKenzie, when in the ring, gets to show off some of her fire and lays into both women with several suplexes. However, in the closing stages, Banks gets Charli Evans trapped in the Bank Statement whilst Bayley keeps Millie busy by sending her into the steel steps. Charli can’t escape and the referee calls for the bell, ending the match.

Winners via submission and still WWE Women’s tag team champions: The Boss ‘N’ Hug Connection (6:11)

The Boss ‘N’ Hug Connection retain their titles as the commentary team says once again that means they will break the record for the longest reign with those titles by next SmackDown Live. They celebrate in the ring but are noticeably getting a very mixed reaction from the crowd. Bayley looks really upset and confused, but Sasha reassures her that it means nothing and to look at her. Bayley nods as they carry on the celebrations, bringing the 1st hour of SmackDown Live to a close.

The 2nd hour of SmackDown Live starts with a Firefly Funhouse segment as we can see Bray Wyatt standing inside the Funhouse! He waves in signature fashion as he welcomes the fans to the show and promises to have a special show in store for everyone watching tonight. He walks around the set and says today’s special is going to be about friendship. We can hear the usual small children cheering in the background as Bray tells us that being a good friend is important or you suffer the consequences of karma. This is intercut with a clip of The Fiend attacking Kevin Owens.

Bray says being around people who are bad friends can affect others and they can start to become infected by the poison being spewed. We see clips of the War Raiders turning on Bray Wyatt and The Fiend attacking Erick Rowan. Bray says you need to cut these people out of your life before they infect everything else, including yourself. We then see clips of Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn’s many falling outs over the years before seeing them hug as they ended up on different brands in last year’s draft.

We then hear Rambling Rabbit chiming in, asking Bray about his own issues with the people he called friends and we see flashes of Luke Harper, Randy Orton, Matt Hardy and Bo Dallas appearing on the screen. Bray grabs Rambling Rabbit, choking him saying it’s not nice to remind someone of what they have lost. He chokes the rabbit until the head pops off and says oopsies with a sinister chuckle. He finishes the promo by promising to see Kevin and his friend real soon.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When we return from the commercial break, we can see Kevin Owens standing backstage as he paces up and down, furious with what he has just seen. Owens makes it clear that he is sick of the mind games and he is sick of Bray hiding. He says he has had enough talk and he is going to find him next week to beat the hell out of him for daring to invoke the name of his best friend Sami.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Match 4: Taynara Conti, Bianca Belair and Xia Li vs Ember Moon, Naomi and Tamina

Match summary:
A fun 6-woman tag with all 6 women getting time in the ring, including Tamina and Xia Li. During the match, Belair is desperate to get her hands on Ember Moon, but Mrs Money in the Bank makes a point to avoid her and stay out of her way throughout the match. Conti meanwhile, looks to get hold of Naomi but manages to stay focused, but the heels do manage to isolate Xia Li, working over the Chinese superstar in their half of the ring.

Xia Li manages to fight through the pain and stays alive in the match before finally breaking free to bring her tag team partner Conti back into the match! Conti lays into the other woman with kicks and judo throws before, in the closing stages of the match, Belair brawls with Ember Moon to the outside and Xia Li dives out of the ring to keep Naomi busy, allowing Conti to hit Tamina with the DD-TAY! Conti makes the cover and picks up the win for her team.

Winners via pinfall: Taynara Conti, Bianca Belair and Xia Li (8:47)

Conti gets back to their feet with a smile on their face, having picked up the win. Bianca Belair returns to the ring and passes her the Women’s WWE title, but there is slight hesitation in passing the title to her. The two women have a stare-down with each other, but are all smiles for now. Outside the ring, we can see Naomi and Bianca Belair bickering with each other as they blame one another for the loss, as we cut to a commercial break.

We return from the commercial break to see Deonna Purrazzo sitting backstage at the head of a fancy table with a glass of red wine in front of her. She takes a sip and says last week, she showed the world what high-quality wrestling is. We see clips of her systematically picking apart Mandy Rose before locking in the Venus De Milo. Deonna says naturally, some people don’t appreciate fine art and are not smart enough to see what is in front of them. Deonna finishes the short promo, saying she is happy to give Sonya Deville a personal demonstration.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We transition to the ring, where Corey Graves stands in the center and announces that the two men he’s about to interview are banned from the arena for this week’s SmackDown Live and next week’s SmackDown Live, ensuring their match happens at Armageddon. The scene then shifts to the titantron, revealing Braun Strowman and Jacob Fatu, each in different hotel rooms. Corey begins interviewing them by asking how they feel after their collision last week.

Braun Strowman says he's a monster and doesn't feel pain. Fatu cuts him off, calling that nonsense. Fatu says he walked away last week and that's why he's the United States Champion. Fatu says he refused to be stretchered out and promises Braun will leave the same way next Sunday. Corey steers them back, confirming the last man standing match at Armageddon per Shawn Michaels.

Braun says that's good because he isn't a man, he's a monster, and he'll destroy Fatu next week. Fatu scoffs and says he doesn't fear Braun, claiming he's crippled giants before. Braun says to ask Roman if he's tough, which makes Fatu snap; Fatu warns to keep the chief's name out and vows to destroy him next Sunday as SmackDown heads to commercial.

When we return from the commercial break, we can see Erick Rowan sitting down backstage with a sheep mask in his hand. He looks at it before looking back at the camera, saying once upon a time, he was treated as a pawn by Bray Wyatt. He then CRUSHES THE MASK AND THROWS IT DOWN, saying he refuses to be a pawn in his games any longer. He tells Bray to meet him in the ring next week in whatever mask he wants to wear and he will show the student has outgrown the master.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Match 5: Number one contender’s match for the WWE Tag Team titles: The Mysterios vs Heavy Machinery

Match summary:
Both teams show respect to each other before the bell rings, shaking hands. Tucker starts off for Heavy Machinery, whilst Rey chooses to let his taller son Dominik, start for The Mysterios. Heavy Machinery during the early stages of the match manages to overpower the father and son duo. Rey though, using his veteran experience, starts to outspeed and outsmart Heavy Machinery to take control of the match. However, before we can get to a conclusion… THE USOS RUN IN WITH STEEL CHAIRS ATTACKING BOTH TEAMS LEADING TO A NO CONTEST!

Winners: No Contest (4:33)

The crowd loudly boos, angry that they are not going to see a conclusion to this match, but The Usos don’t care as they lay a beating on both teams in the middle of the ring. They lay all 4 men out as the commentary team wonders who the number one contenders at Armageddon will be, as we cut to a commercial break.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When we return from the commercial break, The Usos are walking through the back, smirking with the steel chairs in hand. Shawn Michaels confronts them and tells the pair that if they think their actions stopped a number one contender from being crowned, they are wrong and makes the match at Armageddon a triple threat match! Jey laughs and tells Shawn they did it because they want both teams in the ring next week. Shawn says in that case he’ll also make it a TABLES LADDERS AND CHAIRS MATCH so The Usos can lose their titles without being pinned. The Usos smiles drop as they realize they are in great danger of losing their WWE Tag Team titles.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We then cut to the ring as Keith Lee and Dominik Dijakovic walk out, looking every bit an imposing tag team presence. Once inside the ring, Keith Lee discusses their history as friends and rivals, saying no one has pushed him as a competitor more than Dijakovic. Dominik chimes in to say he feels the same way about Keith, and it was about time he stopped fighting him, plus fighting for a cause with honor. He says they are going to tear down everyone in their way, and… Dijakovic taps the Money in the Bank briefcase. Once Keith cashes in, he wants the first shot.

Both men are all smiles before Keith looks to call out their challengers at Armageddon, Finn Balor and Jordan Devlin, saying the pair of them asked for this fight. Dijakovic says he has been watching what the O.C. does and it reminds him of a less successful version of The Ungovernables. Keith Lee agrees, saying if you are going to sell out your morals, at least get some gold to make it worth it. Dijakovic says Jordan Devlin is just a naïve young man following a mentor who is using him… as the Irish duo soon walks out to cut Dijakovic and Keith Lee off!

Finn Balor makes it clear he has been nothing but great to Jordan Devlin, helping to train the young superstar to make him the next Finn Balor. Devlin chimes in to say he was glad to help Finn when he needed it and at Armageddon, they will find out why you don’t mess with The O.C.. Finn smirks and says if they make it that far… AS THE GOOD BROTHERS AMBUSH KEITH LEE AND DOMINIK DIJAKOVIC! Finn and Devlin join in on the beatdown with The O.C. in control… UNTIL AJ STYLES AND BIG CASS RUN OUT FOR THE SAVE! With the numbers game being even, The O.C. soon flees the scene as SmackDown goes to its final commercial break.

When we returned from the commercial break before the main event, we cut to a short promo from Zelina Vega and Shinsuke Nakamura. Vega says costing Buddy Murphy was just business, but Murphy made it personal when he attacked Nakamura. Shinsuke finishes the promo in Japanese as the subtitles tell us he is going to extinguish his rise and put him in the dirt where he belongs.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Before we find out who is challenging Daniel Bryan in the main event of tonight’s SmackDown, two matches are signed for next week’s show. The first is a tag team match pitting Carmella and Mercedes Martinez against The House of Couture. The second is the main event for the show as Alpha Academy will team with Damian Priest and Gran Metalik to take on The Church of Seth Rollins and Shinsuke Nakamura! Daniel Bryan then makes his way to the ring and plays to the crowd a bit as he waits to see who answers the open challenge… AND IT IS THE RATED R SUPERSTAR EDGE!

Main event: Men’s Universal title match: Daniel Bryan © vs Edge

Match summary:
Edge has a smirk on his face as he stands in the ring across from Daniel Bryan. The veteran offers him a handshake to Bryan, which he accepts before they get down to business. Edge, being a crafty veteran, knows how good Bryan is at submissions and looks to avoid getting trapped early on. Instead, and in quite an opportunistic fashion, he makes a point to target the neck of Daniel Bryan, which does get a few boos from the live crowd.

Beth on commentary, says her husband knows how rough it can be coming back from an injury like that but at the same time, he has always been ruthless when it comes to becoming a World Champion. Bryan in kind, starts to target the neck of Edge himself as it becomes a battle of who will break first. During the match, we also cut to clips of The Usos watching backstage and then of The Church of Seth Rollins watching the match, each group loving the damage being done to Bryan’s neck throughout.

In the closing stages of the match, Daniel Bryan noticeably has to shake some feeling into his arm, but stays strong as he avoids THE SPEAR FROM EDGE WHO COLLIDES WITH THE RING POST! Beth on commentary sells her concern for Edge as Bryan follows up with a DRAGON SUPLEX! Bryan wastes no time as he locks in the YES LOCK TIGHTLY AROUND EDGE… THE VETERAN TRIES TO FIND A WAY TO ESCAPE FROM THE HOLD… BUT HE IS FORCED TO TAP OUT!

Winner via submission and still Men’s Universal Champion: Daniel Bryan (11:13)

Daniel Bryan lets go of the hold as soon as he gets the 3 count, having successfully answered another open challenge on SmackDown Live. Edge lies on the mat and clutches his neck before slamming the mat, annoyed at his loss tonight. The commentary team gives both men credit and Daniel Bryan is shown celebrating his victory as Edge teases going for a SPEAR AFTER THE MATCH… BUT INSTEAD SHAKES HIS HEAD AND LEAVES THE RING! Daniel Bryan carries on his celebrations as SmackDown Live comes to an end.

HOUSE OF MEMORIES - P!ATD

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Monday Night Raw starts with The New Day making their way out to loud cheers from the live crowd. All 3 men lift their titles in the air and show them off to the fans before stepping into the ring with microphones in their hands. Big E starts the promo by hyping up the fans and the rest of The New Day have some fun with the fans before the WWE Champion talks about Cesaro helping them last week due to the attack by The Ungovernables. He thanks the Swiss Superman for his help last week. Kofi looks to speak next, but they are interrupted by Cesaro!

Cesaro is dressed in a fine suit and says he appreciates the nice comments from The New Day, but all last week was, is he sticking to his words. He tells Big E that he wants him at 100% when they fight in 4 weeks and that means helping him when Andrade’s crew tries to do their usual tricks. Kofi and Woods speak, saying they owe him thanks either way before saying that Andrade and Humberto can try all the tricks they want to get their titles, but it won’t work.

The men in the ring though, are soon cut off by The Ungovernables, making their way out. The trio stands behind Zelina Vega, who tells The New Day and Cesaro that they are getting back on track with Andrade leading them by example once again. Andrade says he should thank Cesaro for beating him at WrestleMania because it made him wake up and realize something was wrong with him.

Cesaro tells Andrade he still hasn’t learned as the trio gets on the ring apron… TOMMASO CIAMPA AND BARON CORBIN SLIDE INTO THE RING JUMPING THE BABYFACES FROM BEHIND! The crowd boos as The Ungovernables jump into the ring, as they beat down on The New Day and Cesaro, using the 5 on 4 numbers game to their advantage. The live crowd boos the attack that is taking place as the segment ends with the bad guys standing tall!

Dolph Ziggler makes his way to the ring for the first match of the night, joined by his bodyguard OMOS. He stands in the ring as he waits to see who his opponent in the Intercontinental series is and soon learns he is facing his old rival: MUSTAFA ALI! The commentary team says we haven’t seen Ali since he got pop-up powerbombed onto the ring apron at WrestleMania during the Money in the Bank ladder match and whilst he gets loud cheers from the crowd, he looks very angry as he walks to the ring ready for this match.

Match 1: Intercontinental series match: Dolph Ziggler w/OMOS vs Mustafa Ali

Match summary:
Ziggler is not happy about facing the man who ended his run as Cruiserweight Champion and goes right on the attack! Ziggler soon is reminded that he is outmatched by Ali, who makes a point of being a bit extra vicious during this match. OMOS tries to get involved in the closing stages, but Ali wipes him out before returning to the ring. He hits Ziggler with a STANDING SPAINISH FLY BEFORE LOCKING IN THE KOJI CLUTCH! He wrenches back on the hold… AND ZIGGLER TAPS OUT!

Winner via submission: Mustafa Ali (7:00)

Mustafa Ali gets to his feet, but there are no smiles on his face in the middle of the ring. He gets his arm raised by the referee, but is quick to take it away. Ziggler meanwhile, rolls out of the ring and OMOS places him in his arms as they retreat to the backstage area, as Raw goes to a commercial break.

When we return from the commercial break, Cathy Kelley approaches The Hurt Business locker room and enters. We can see all the members of The Hurt Business in there except for Swerve Strickland and Lio Rush. Cathy asks MVP how the group is feeling ahead of tonight’s loser-leaves-the-group match. He makes it clear that after what happened inside of War Games, they need to get back on track ahead of the draft, in case they can get back in line for title contention again.

Cathy asks MVP who he is rooting for to win the match, but he makes it clear he has no favourites here, wishing it did not have to come to this. Cathy asks the other members of the group their thoughts on the matter, with Samoa Joe and Shelton Benjamin making it clear they are rooting for Lio Rush, whilst Cedric Alexander and EJ Nduka make their support for Swerve Strickland clear. MVP though makes them all promise not to interfere in the match later tonight, with everyone saying yes to even EJ Nduka.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Match 2: Number one contender’s 4-way elimination match for the Cruiserweight title: Humberto Carrillo vs Mark Andrews vs Ricochet vs Oney Lorcan

Match summary:
A fast-paced and fun match between the 4 Cruiserweights. Mark Andrews and Ricochet focus on their high-flying agility during this match, whilst Humberto Carrillo is craftier. Oney Lorcan meanwhile, focuses on his strikes and suplexes. In the closing stages of this match, Humberto Carrillo and Ricochet end up battling to the outside, leaving Andrews in the ring alone with Oney Lorcan, who puts him away with the HALF AND HALF SUPLEX to earn a Cruiserweight title match!

Winner via pinfall: Oney Lorcan (8:27)

Oney Lorcan gets to his feet and poses to boos from the live crowd. Outside the ring, we can see that both Ricochet and Humberto are annoyed that they took each other out of the closing stages of the match. The commentary team mentions Oney Lorcan is in a good run of form as of late and wonders if he can overcome Xavier Woods in two weeks.

When we return from the commercial break, Kevin Patrick approaches an angry Dolph Ziggler, looking for an interview. The former World Champion says he is sick of the disrespect, saying he only lost to Ali because he wasn’t expecting him. He then says he saw OMOS lose to Drew McIntyre, so it was time to teach his bodyguard how to beat Drew McIntyre and challenged him to a match next week!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We then cut elsewhere backstage as Ruby Riott is walking through the back and talking to her former tag team partner, Liv Morgan. Both women are angry as Liv says she wants to believe that Ruby did not get KyLinn King involved in her match last week with Dani, but due to their history, it is hard to believe her. Ruby says Liv has a point, but she promises that she had nothing to do with it… DANI LUNA APPEARS AND GRABS HOLD OF RUBY SLAMMING HER INTO THE WALL!

She has Ruby pinned against the wall and demands to know the truth. Liv steps in between them as she tries to de-escalate the situation between the two women. Dani tells her to stay out of it and that makes Ruby angry. The two women are nose to nose about to fight, when Shotzi Blackheart walks into the picture and tells Dani to leave her alone. Dani ignores Shotzi as Ruby tells her friend that this isn’t a good idea to get involved with, but Shotzi says she asked King to attack Dani last week! Both Ruby and Dani stop looking at each other as they turn around to face her, both looking angry.

Dani steps forward, ready to fight Shotzi, injured or not, but Ruby stops her and says she will handle it. Liv leads Dani away as Ruby tells Shotzi that she should not be getting people involved in her matches. Shotzi says she was trying to get her help because she couldn’t, but Ruby shakes her head, telling her this needs to stop. Shotzi watches Ruby leave, looking upset… AS KYLINN KING WALKS INTO SHOT! She looks down at Shotzi and tells her that her friends are making her weak, pointing to the arm before leaving the Blackheart with a lot to think about as the first hour of Raw comes to a close.

Match 3: Loser leaves The Hurt Business: Swerve Strickland vs Lio Rush

Match summary:
The 2nd hour of Monday Night Raw starts with the loser leaving The Hurt Business match and true to their words, there are no members of The Hurt Business at ringside as they are all shown in their locker room watching the match together. Swerve is cocky once the bell rings and taunts Lio Rush, who attacks him with aggression right from the start, getting loud cheers from the crowd who are now starting to get behind the former Cruiserweight Champion.

Swerve has to take a breather early on in the encounter to escape from the assault from Rush, but Lio runs the ropes and WIPES HIM OUT ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE RING! As the match enters the middle stages, Swerve cheats to take control of the match and starts to use his superior size and power to take control of the match. When we cut backstage, it is clear to see that members of The Hurt Business are cheering on with Nduka and Cedric rooting for Swerve, whilst Shelon and Joe root for Lio Rush. In the closing stages of the match, Swerve is on the back foot as Lio Rush has taken control of the match and teases going for THE FINAL HOUR…

BUT SWERVE CALLS OVER THE REFEREE SAYING HE PULLED SOMETHING!
Rush is ready to fly off, but the referee is in the way as Rush tells him to move… SOMEONE WITH THEIR FACE COVERED AND IN A HOODIE APPEARS ON THE APRON GRABBING HIS ANKLE! Rush kicks him off… BUT SWERVE PUSHES PAST THE REFEREE AND USES THE DISTRACTION TO HIT A SUPERPLEX! He was not hurt at all and Swerve smirks before then following up with THE HOUSE CALL FOR THE WIN!

Winner via pinfall: Swerve Strickland (10:21)

The crowd loudly boos as Swerve Strickland gets back to his feet. He looks down at Lio Rush with disdain, then grabs him off the mat and SLAMS HIM DOWN WITH BIG PRESSURE! As Swerve stands over Rush, the boos get louder when a man in a face covering and hoodie enters the ring. Swerve turns to him—IT IS AR FOX! The boos reach their peak as Swerve and AR Fox embrace in celebration and head up the entrance ramp. Raw then goes to a commercial break.

We cut back to The Hurt Business locker room. MVP shakes his head. "We need to talk to Swerve about what just happened." Bobby Lashley bursts in, slamming the door. "What the hell was that, MVP?" MVP raises his hands. "We planned that. Business means keeping your word."

Lashley says he is not buying it and he knows that AR Fox is now part of the Hurt Business. Samoa Joe steps forward as the two heavyweights lock eyes with each other and Joe makes it clear that AR Fox is not part of the group. Lashley asks why he should believe him, but Shelton Benjamin tells Bobby to cool it. Shelton says they have been friends for years and he knows Lashley thinks rashly. Bobby makes it clear to Shelton that he will not take what happened to Lio lying down.

Shelton makes it clear none of them played a part in Lio losing that match, but what is done is done and Lio is now out of the Hurt Business. Bobby gets angrier, but Cedric steps in and says he was pro-kicking Lio out, but not like that. Lashley shakes his head and says if he finds out that they are lying, but Shelton cuts him off and tells him to stop making threats, instead challenging him to meet him in the ring next week. Lashley says he is on and storms out of the room, leaving the group to have further discussions about what just happened.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We then cut elsewhere backstage as Kevin Patrick is standing ready for an interview with Charlotte Flair. He asks how she is feeling ahead of tonight’s main event as she takes on Piper Niven. Charlotte has a cocky smirk on her face and says Piper would likely be next in line if she weren’t around. Charlotte says she is the greatest of all time already, like her father was and this is in her blood; everyone is behind her in line. Kevin asks if she has any concerns about payback from Rhea Ripley after last week’s attack, but Charlotte shakes her head, promising to be a 10-time champion very soon.

When we return from the commercial break, Wade Barrett is standing backstage in front of his desk in a suit as he looks at the camera with a smile. He says that the World tag team titles will be defended in 4 weeks and it is time to find out who is earning a title shot against the winners of the next match. He says on next week’s Raw, we will see a fatal-4-way to crown the new number one contenders between: Breezango, British Strong Style, Grizzled Young Veterans and Jeff Jarrett & Heath Slater!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We then cut to the ring as The Street Profits have microphones in hand and they address the live crowd, saying tonight they get the chance to get some smoke and want to know who is going to step up for a shot at their team titles… AS THE KINGDOM FROM NXT INTERRUPTS THEM! They get boos from the live crowd. Mike Kanellis and Matt Taven cut a promo saying winning those titles would guarantee them a great spot in the draft, so how could they turn this opportunity down!

Match 4: World tag team titles: The Street Profits © vs The Kingdom

Match summary:
The Kingdom gets a good reaction from the live crowd, with a few fans familiar with them due to their time in NXT as of late. Montez Ford and Matt Taven start the match, with Ford once again getting to show his talent whilst Taven makes himself familiar to the fans who are not aware of him. The Kingdom, in the middle stages of the match, isolate Angelo Dawkins and work over him in the corner of the ring before Montez Ford makes the hot tag. The Street Profits would then work together with Montez, pinning Mike Kanellis with FROM THE HEAVENS for the win!

Winners via pinfall and still World tag team champions: The Street Profits (9:24)

The Street Profits get to their feet and share a hug in the middle of the ring, winning their first 2 on 2 title defence as World tag team champions. The commentary team is full of praise for them, but as they are celebrating… JEFF JARRETT AND HEATH SLATER ATTACK HIM FROM BEHIND WITH GUITARS! The two men lay the tag team champions out and get loud boos from the fans before holding the tag team titles as they talk trash to the fallen champions.

When we return from the commercial break, Mustafa Ali is shown packing his bags and getting ready to leave the arena with an angry cold look on his face when he is stopped by Sami Zayn! The Underdog from the underground has a big smile on his face and looks to offer a handshake to Ali, who just looks at it. Sami chuckles and says not a handshake guy, telling Ali he wishes him good luck next week and may the best man win. Ali scoffs and rubs his jaw before asking Sami where this support was when his best friend powerbombed him onto a ring apron, costing him 2 months of his career. Sami is silent as Ali shoulder barges past and leaves the arena, whilst we cut elsewhere backstage.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We see British Strong Style standing backstage as Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate stare at the camera, with Tyler Bate for once matching Dunne’s mood. Tyler Bate says they have heard Wade Barrett’s announcement and normally, he would be in a good mood, but they have been stabbed in the back by someone they thought was a friend. Bate shakes his head, saying actually no, he saw Trent as a mentor to him, someone who taught him and helped him succeed in this business.

Tyler Bate says next week they won’t just be looking to earn a World Tag Team title shot, but looking to get revenge on the Grizzled Young Veterans for what they did. Pete Dunne steps in to say winning gold is what they are about but right now, they have a bigger goal. Making Trent Seven pay for what he did to them. He says he has loved breaking people’s fingers over the years, but when it comes to Trent Seven, he doesn’t plan on stopping at just breaking his fingers, bringing the promo to an end.

The last segment of the 2nd hour of Monday Night Raw sees Cesaro heading to the ring with The New Day, when they are stopped for an interview with Cathy Kelley. She asks how they are feeling after the attack by The Ungovernables, Tommaso Ciampa and Baron Corbin earlier tonight. Cesaro speaks first, saying he feels OK and is used to these kinds of cheap attacks by the group. Big E does chime in to remind Cesaro of his time in the group, getting a side-eye from the Swiss Superman.

The New Day says they know how to work as a group when it comes to fighting a united front, saying they proved they were better than The Hurt Business and if The Ungovernables keep trying to take them down, they will be ready for them as well. Cathy asks Cesaro and Big E if they trust each other going into tonight’s 8-man tag. Neither man answers straight away, but Cesaro says it doesn’t matter if they trust each other, just so long as they work together. Big E nods before letting Cesaro lead the way whilst Kofi and Woods watch on nervously.

Match 5: The New Day and Cesaro vs Andrade Cien Almas, Angel Garza, Tommaso Ciampa and Baron Corbin w/Zelina Vega

Match summary:
At the start of the 3rd hour, we get this 8-man tag with Woods starting the match across the ring from Angel Garza. During the match we can see a lot of talking on the ring apron between Andrade, Ciampa and Corbin with them not being on the same page whilst shockingly it is Cesaro and Big E who link up well as a team using their power moves to dominate the heels early on, though they make it clear to show off their future opponent as they do it.

Kofi and Woods, when they enter the match, use their speed as the heels across the ring from who struggle to keep up and Zelina Vega outside the ring, has to get involved to help them. Corbin and Ciampa prove to be not above using dirty tricks as each one looks to find a way to end the rules and work over the Cruiserweight Champion Xavier Woods. He has been in this spot before and breaks free, allowing Kofi to run wild… UNTIL ANDRADE CUTS HIM OFF!

The former Universal Champion lays into Kofi with a series of hard strikes and looks to take control for the Ungovernables, leading the group by example here. The match carries on with Cesaro tagging back into the match… so Andrade tags out, forcing Corbin into the match! Cesaro shakes his head as Corbin argues with Andrade… ALLOWING NEW DAY TO TAKE OUT THE REST OF HIS TEAM! Corbin tries to take down Cesaro, but the Swiss Superman lifts him up and puts him away with the RICOLA BOMB!

Winners via pinfall: The New Day and Cesaro (13:19)

The crowd loudly cheers for the faces as Cesaro stands tall in the middle of the ring, celebrating the victory he had picked up for his team tonight. The New Day joins him in the ring and lifts all 3 of their titles in the air, leading to a mini stare down between Cesaro and Big E, but for now, they are all smiles as Raw goes on a commercial break.

When we return from the commercial break, Kevin Patrick has Drew McIntyre next to him for an interview. He asks the Sinister Scotsman how he is feeling after a rough loss to Cesaro at Backlash, putting him out of WWE title contention for the time being. Drew is full of respect for Cesaro and says he earned the victory over him. He tells Kevin the only person he has to blame for the loss is himself and he will work hard to get back into title contention as soon as possible, as he hopes for a rematch with Cesaro this time for the WWE title.

Kevin carries on his questions, bringing up the challenge issued to Drew by Dolph Ziggler for next week’s Raw. Drew chuckles in response to that question and jokes that his former tag team partner won’t leave him alone. He says he will kick Ziggler’s head off next week and pick up another… he trails off as he sees Randy Orton smugly walking into the shot with his arms folded. Drew confronts the Viper and asks what he wants, as Kevin Patrick wisely leaves the area.

Randy Orton says he was listening and keeping an eye because he sees Drew as someone in his way of what he wants: The WWE title. Drew chuckles, saying he knows Orton is a legend around here, but he has only come back from hiding from Stone Cold. Orton is furious at that line and barks at Drew that Stone Cold only came back when he was gone. He tells Drew he saw his WWE title win last year and says making it to the top once is easy, but you need to be ruthless to do it twice, saying Drew doesn’t have it in him, ending the segment.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We cut to the women’s locker room as we can see Mickie James warming up and not looking in the best of shape when Alexa Bliss walks into the room with her hands up. She tells her ally and friend that last week they both said some things they shouldn’t have said to each other, but they were angry over the loss to Rhea. Mickie watches her with a distrusting glance. She says they need to focus on winning the Queen of the Ring, as Bliss confirms both women will be in the tournament. She says once one of them wins, maybe the other can go to the other brand and they can run both women’s divisions together. Bliss offers a hug and Mickie accepts, but it is clear neither woman trusts the other right now.

When we return from the commercial break, we can see Sheamus sitting at the bar backstage and looking down after his loss in last week’s Intercontinental series. He asks the bartender for another beer and drinks it as The Miz walks up to him and tries to make a joke about not drinking Guinness. The Celtic Warrior just rolls his eyes, looking at him and carries on drinking. The Miz says he heard that Sheamus has been struggling to win the Intercontinental title, which gets a glare from him.

Miz says he is willing to offer him some help winning it as the greatest champion of all time. Sheamus chokes on his drink and actually starts to laugh a little before turning to the Miz, giving him a confused look. Sheamus says, with all due respect, he is not taking advice from The Miz on how to fight. Miz tells Sheamus that he might not be a brawler like Sheamus, but he knows how to win the Intercontinental title, and if Sheamus were smart, he would listen to him. Sheamus carries on drinking as The Miz walks off, ending the segment.

Match 6: Intercontinental series match: Elias vs Trent Seven w/Grizzled Young Veterans

Match summary:
Trent makes his way to the ring for this match, flanked by his new allies: The GYV! Elias meanwhile, comes to the ring alone but is very wary of the men on the outside of the ring, knowing they are very willing to get involved in this match. Elias controls the match to the delight of the live crowd, but Zack Gibson and James Drake outside the ring have no problem getting involved to help Trent Seven. Anyone who has watched him as a heel in the UK knows how much of a wanker Trent can be as he stalls and grinds down Elias throughout.

The crowd gets more and more pissed off as the match goes on, with Trent Seven acting cocky, sensing that he might be able to win and be two matches away from a shot at the Intercontinental title! In the closing stages of the match, however, we see British Strong Style come out with Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate attacking GYV outside the ring! They lay into them and Trent is distracted, allowing Elias to hit him with the DRIFT AWAY for the victory!

Winner via pinfall: Elias (7:36)

Elias gets back to his feet, getting a loud pop from the live crowd as he celebrates in the middle of the ring. Outside the ring, British Strong Style win out versus the Grizzled Young Veterans and turn towards the ring, causing Trent Seven to flee up the entrance ramp. British Strong Style gives chase as Elias shrugs and the commentary team hypes up his match with Andrade Cien Almas next week.

When we return from the commercial break, Rick Boogs is shown in what looks like his own personal gym with a bunch of gym equipment and guitars around the room behind him. He looks at the camera, saying people told him last week would be a bad idea, as they knew Heath would not keep his nose out. He was stubborn and wanted his revenge too soon. He tells the camera that he is going to do what people suggested and get a partner to help him with his problem.

Match 7: The MMA Horsewomen vs K2 and Lana

Match summary:
In the penultimate match of the night the MMA Horsewomen team up as a trio to take on K2 and Lana. The babyfaces do their best to try to take down the MMA Horsewomen, but the unit are too dominant with all 3 women locking in submission, but it is Natalya who is the legal woman who has the sharpshooter in on Lana to pick up the win!

Winners via submission: The MMA Horsewomen (3:49)

The crowd loudly boos as The MMA Horsewomen stand tall in the middle of the ring, looking an imposing presence as the commentary team confirms all 3 members will be entering The Queen of the Ring tournament and will pose a huge threat to anyone who gets in their way!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We then cut to Piper Niven backstage, who is warming up for the main event, when she is approached by Cathy Kelley looking for an interview with her. She asks how she is feeling and the bubbly Scot makes it clear she is still feeling the effects of the last woman standing match two weeks ago, but opportunities in the main event of Raw don’t come around often. She says she is going to fight through the pain and when she beats Charlotte tonight, she will prove she is due a shot at the Women’s Universal title.

Cathy is about to carry on the interview but Tegan Nox appears, interrupting the pair of them. She tells Piper that she knows what Charlotte Flair is like and she offers to be at ringside to help Piper. The Scot shakes her head, saying she wants to do this alone, saying she has a lot of respect for Tegan, but this is something she needs to do alone. Piper walks out of the interview, leaving Tegan alone to pull out her phone and call someone as we go to the final commercial break of the night.

Main event: Charlotte Flair vs Piper Niven

Match summary:
Charlotte in the opening stages of the main event, spends a lot of time leaving the ring and re-entering the ring, looking to keep away from her stronger opponent. Piper is a bit annoyed by these tactics by Charlotte, but keeps her cool, not taking the bait from the Queen. Charlotte realizes she is going to have to take a bit of pain to get into this match and starts to go on the attack, struggling at first, but one well-timed chop block turns the tide for the Queen!

Charlotte Flair knows that Piper is not at the top of her game thanks to the damage from her war with Nia Jax a couple of weeks ago and targets the right leg of Piper Niven throughout the match, hoping to set her up for the figure eight! Charlotte is relentless and the commentary notes that there is little Piper can do to counter it because she not only is weaker to the Figure Eight but also it becomes a lot harder to hit her power moves throughout the match.

In the closing stages of the match, Piper does try to take control and even manages to slam Charlotte down to the mat before heading to the corner for the SCOT DROP… BUT CHARLOTTE KICKS THE LEG WHILST SHE IS ON THE TOP ROPE! Piper is trapped in the ropes and Charlotte uses that to hit a modified powerbomb from the corner! Charlotte then climbs to the top rope and dives off, hitting Piper with a MOONSAULT! Charlotte stays on for the cover and picks up the victory!

Winner via pinfall: Charlotte Flair (10:40)

Charlotte Flair gets to her feet and with a smug smile, she celebrates her victory tonight over Piper Niven. The commentary team says it was a strong return to the ring for Charlotte and a nice warm-up ahead of the Queen of the Ring. Charlotte looks at Piper down on the mat… AND ATTACK HER! The crowd loudly boos as Charlotte smirks to herself before grabbing hold of the right leg of Piper Niven, locking in the FIGURE EIGHT…

UNTIL RHEA RIPLEY RUNS OUT!
The crowd goes wild for the Women’s Universal Champion as she sprints to the ring with a purpose and looks to go right after Charlotte Flair. The Queen sees Rhea Ripley coming and smartly lets go of the hold as she flees through the live crowd. Rhea Ripley just misses out on getting her hand on Charlotte Flair and instead checks on Piper Niven as Monday Night Raw comes to a close with the two women due to collide at Queen of the Ring staring one another down.

News Update:

Huge injury with massive implications for the Armageddon PPV

A top male superstar has sustained a serious leg injury which will rule him out of Armageddon at a recent house show. An angle is being filmed as we speak to explain his absence from the PPV and to tie up the story as best we can for now. The scheduled match between him and his opponent is being changed, with a replacement or a new stipulation being planned.

Mod note: Posting this as a Smackdown tease. The injury sidelined the talent for 7 months, impacting the feud and requiring major roster adjustments until the draft.

Raul Mendoza is out of action for the rest of the month

In further injury news, NXT superstar Raul Mendoza has also picked up an injury at a house show and is now out of action for the next month, in a blow to NXT’s tag team division.

- The Queen...All Hail...All Bow Down...Charlotte looks to be in fine form as she beats a much larger opponent in Piper Niven...just goes to show us why Charlotte Flair is the GOAT whether it be men's or women's wrestling. 9 times and she could make it 10 if she beats Rhea for her title. Charlotte trying to make an example out of Piper only for Rhea to make the save...wise for Charlotte to get out of dodge. Save it for Queen of the Ring.

- AR Fox turning heel was bound to happen and he joins The Hurt Business replacing Lio Rush in the group...was bound to happen

- I can definitely see Lashley feuding with The Hurt Business now especially after Lio was done dirty

- McIntyre/Orton feud sign me up for that
