2017 Royal Rumble Match
The first match announced for the 2017 edition of the WWE ppv event known as the Royal Rumble. Which would be the 30th consecutive RR pay per view. Was rather fittingly the titular thirty man over the top rope battle royal.
Where the last man inside the squared circle at the conclusion of the match. Would not only be crowned the winner of it, they would also cash their ticket to the WrestleMania 33 ppv event.
At the show of shows the victor would be able to choose between the WWE Universal or WWE Championship.

A feud that concerned not one but two championships defended on Monday Night RAW, which began in late 2016. Found itself continuing into the new year, as the current WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens©.
Clashed with the current WWE United States Champion Roman Reigns, it got so heated between the two men. Left the brand’s General Manager Mick Foley with limited options in his endeavour to have the matter squashed.
He ultimately decided that the two men would clash at the Royal Rumble pay per view event. In a match where both of their respective championships would be on the line.
That wasn’t all as he would end up banning Owens Y2KO tag team partner, Chris Jericho from ringside. Under the threat of him being removed from the 2017 Royal Rumble match.

Not wanting to be left in the dust by the huge Champion versus Champion match announced by MRN GM Mick Foley. His blue brand counterpart aka the Friday Night Smackdown General Manager Daniel Bryan.
Countered this by revealing a huge two out of three falls match for the WWE Championship. Between the current reigning and defending champion, the "Phenomenal" AJ Styles(c), and the challenger the "Leader of the C-Nation" John Cena.

On the first episode of Friday Night Smackdown of 2017 the duo of Becky Lynch and Mickie James. Squared off with the winner earning themselves a shot at the WWE Smackdown Women's Championship at the Rumble. When it was all said and done it would be Lynch who got the win following the Bex-Ploder.
