ROAD TO THE RUMBLE 2017


EVENT ANNOUNCEMENT & 2017 ROYAL RUMBLE
The thirtieth annual WWE Royal Rumble pay per view event. Was announced to take place on the 29th of January 2017. It would take place at the Alamodome in San Antonio Texas.
The first match announced for the event rather fittingly was the titular match. The thirty man over the top rope battle royal known as the Royal Rumble. Like years previous the winner of the match would earn themselves a shot at a world championship at WrestleMania. ​

AJ STYLES(C) VS RANDY ORTON
Going into the 2017 WWE Royal Rumble pay per view the feud concerning the WWE Championship. Consisting of the currenting reigning and defending champion, the “Phenomenal” AJ Styles(c). And the challenger, the “Apex Predator” Randy Orton. SD General Manager Daniel Bryan confirmed that the two men would meet at the Rumble with the title on the line.

WWE UNIVERSAL CHAMPIONSHIP - CHRIS JERICHO IS BANNED
KEVIN OWENS(C) VS ROMAN REIGNS
After the current WWE Universal Champion the "Prize Fighter" Kevin Owens(c) interfered in a match for the WWE United States Championship. Between then champion Roman Reigns(c) and his tag team partner Chris Jericho which resulted in the latter winning the title. And after he doubled down and cost Reigns the rematch for the title, RAW GM Mick Foley took control. As he wasted little time in laying down the law as he announced Owens would defend the title against Reigns at the Rumble. But he wasn't done there as he went onto say that if Jericho interfered he would be removed from the Royal Rumble match.​

Three more championship matches were announced for the 2017 WWE Royal Rumble ppv. All three would take place on the KickOff Show. The first involved the WWE RAW Tag Team Championship. As the reigning champions the Bar(c) faced the Good Brothers.

The second and third matches regarded the WWE Smackdown Women’s and WWE Intercontinental Championships respectively.

As Alexa Bliss(c) put the prize on the line against five challengers in a six woman mini Royal Rumble. Finally The Miz(c) would face off with the “Lunatic” Dean Ambrose.

Mauro Ranallo & Nigel McGuiness welcomed the WWE Universe. To the 2017 WWE Royal Rumble PPV KickOff Show.
The Miz with Maryse(c) beat Dean Ambrose via a distraction from Maryse. Which led to Miz rolling his opponent up to retain the WWE ICC.
A video package hyped up the next match for the WWE RAW Tag Team Championship. Between the champions the Bar(c) and the challengers the Good Brothers.
Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows aka the Good Brothers. Beat the Bar(c) to become the new WWE RAW Tag Team Championship. Anderson pinned Sheamus after he and Gallows hit the Magic Killer.
A video package hyped up the match for the WWE Smackdown Women’s Championship.
Becky Lynch beat Alexa Bliss(c), Carmella, Eva Marie, Mickie James and Naomi in a mini Royal Rumble. To capture the WWE Smackdown Women’s Championship for the second time.
Mauro Ranallo & Nigel McGuiness thanked the WWE Universe for joining them.

A segment showed WWE Superstars picking their numbers for the Rumble from a tumbler.
Kevin Owens(c) beat Roman Reigns to retain the WWE Universal Championship. He countered an attempted Spear from Reigns into a Pop-Up Powerbomb.
WWE Spring Stampede was announced for the 5th of March 2017 in a promo.
A returning Finn Balor eliminated Chris Jericho to win the 2017 Royal Rumble match.
