I found out how to convert and all. Thanks for the help.

Now when I'm burning, some of them burn just fine, but others don't. Some end up saying "Playback prohibited by area limitations." Now I have no idea why this is. Could it be the video mode. The file I just tried to burn came up in PAL mode. The option that looks kind of familiar that wasn't up was NTSC. IDK what's wrong, but I hate wasting these dvds. They aren't cheap. Help for hopefully the last time for a while plz.

Use Nero. It converts NTSC to PAL format for me, so I guess it could do the opposite.

So basically, convert the .mkv file to avi, then use Nero I guess, I usually just convert .mkv's to .mp4 for my iPod.

That's exactly what I do. I convert all the files I DL to AVI and then use Nero.

So...

Well, i'm not sure then, cos for me, when i've downloaded a 700MB or so movie, if it's got mostly NTSC formatting, it automatically converts it to PAL so it works on the DVD player.

It could be your player, but that's unlikely.

No, others I've burned have worked sometimes.

Anyways, so it's PAL i want the format to be in then? If that's the case, that was what it was on in the first place.

FUCK

You want it to be NTSC. You're American. NTSC is the American/Canada format, PAL is the Australasia format.

Well FUCK. Why didn't you say that.

Could that probably be my problem then?

lol... I burn all my stuff as ntsc....however I don't really have to worry about these sort of things.... the beauty of having a region free dvd player.
