So I went in to this not really expecting much.
It wasn't even bad as far as remakes/reboots go. I've seen a lot worse, trust me. I've watched every remake going and some of them were just awful, this is at least a solid movie. I enjoyed it on a similar level to how much I enjoyed the Hills Have Eyes and Texas Chainsaw remakes.
There's not much to say review wise because it very much follows a similar forumla to its predecessors, but I did not hate myself watching it. You get what you expect, pretty much. I've honestly been in the mood for a slasher type flick for a while, so this came at the right place, right time for me. It's not as good as the one with Eliza Dushku (I mean it's Eliza, come on!)
I would say it slots in nicely after the first and second movie as one of the better ones they've come out with. The sequels after the second once were pretty bad. They upped the cheese factor way too much and the acting gradually got more poor.
I think IMDB has the rating right for this, I'd give it about 5.5/10 that seems right. Almost a 6 but not quite. It doesn't do anything super original, isn't going to blow your mind, but it's a fun suspensful ride. I always thought the early movies did this well. I think we'd all shit ourseleves being in the middle of nowhere chased by people like this. So yeah.
So before watching this: Think to yourself (Did I enjoy the original Wrong Turn?) if the answer is yes, then you should like this too. I'd be very surprised if it doesn't hit those same notes, because it did for me and I'm a pretty big defender of the first as one of my fave horror movies.
