WRESTLING SOCIETY X
|- THE REVOLUTION IS REAL -|

As I attempt to get a little bit more mileage out of TEW 2020 before buying TEW IX, I figured why not go ahead and just post my progress on this game I’m embarking on for sheer fun, and see where it goes.

I’m playing as Kevin Kleinrock, booking Wrestling Society X, on the Shifting Sands mod made by Mammoth. It’s a great mod, one of my favorites, set to begin in January 2006. It’s a real-life, realistic mod, so no major twists or storylines. As for WSX, it comes into being in February 2006. For those of you unfortunate enough to not remember/have experienced the brilliance of Wrestling Society X, it was a short-lived, experimental wrestling promotion that aired on MTV for one season. The show was filmed in a warehouse made to look like some kind of bunker or fallout shelter, there were tons of special effect explosions and post-production edits to make it look full of carnage. It was certainly a bold experiment, that I thought was fun as a youngster, but clearly society just wasn’t ready for WSX.

In this game, it’s going to be a different story for this company. It still has the same roots, same owner and booker, but it doesn’t have the MTV deal. It’s just some unheard of project cooked up by Houston Curtis [CEO of a company called Big Vision Entertainment, who has produced content for nearly every major network in the US] and Kevin Kleinrock [former vice president an on-screen antagonist of XPW] that is set to start hosting events in the near future. Their plan in the immediate future is to host events from their special “Bunker” venue, compile the footage and produce DVDs to get the company’s name out there while they seek TV distribution. From a product standpoint, my WSX will be pretty similar, as I want to keep the spirit of the company infused. But of course, you can picture the pyro budget being whittled down a bit, and the events are going to have a more traditional layout at least until WSX gets some kind of broadcasting deal. That’s about all you really need to know I think, so let’s begin.
