You know a few weeks ago WWE 2K had special where Jim Ross was the host, taking about Wrestling, the importance to Wrestling and Wrestlers over the years, and it had me thinking? What's worth more, getting that Wrestlemania moment, like winning a World Championship for the first time like Shawn Michaels did at Wrestlemania 12 over Bret Hart.We get to see the Wrestling mature and finally reach the mountain top, through their struggle, and all the emotions they had to deal with, in their life and Wrestling career.Their was a spot during the discussion with Wrestlemania, where Paul Heyman said that Punk told him, even though in his mind he stole the show at Wrestlemania with the Undertaker, he wasn't satisfied due to not being in the Main Event of Wrestlemania.I wonder what is worth more, years ago the Main Event spot during WM meant you were two of the best Wrestlers overall in the Company, now it seems some Wrestlers are just happy to be apart of the show at all.I know it means, you have a spot within the Company, but I love to hear Wrestlers, who are not happy wanting to further up on the card.What do you think about this topic?

I'm sure this belongs in the General WWF/E section.

I'd rather be in the main event of Wrestlemania than anywhere else on the card. Wrestlemania is the biggest show of the year and the fact that it's held in stadiums every year now makes it feel more like a real sporting event, thus giving it that aura of being a huge spectacle. To headline is usually the defining moment of a person's career, especially when you consider that 98% of the biggest moments in Wrestlemania history take place in the main event. Shall we name at least most of them? Hogan and Andre staring each other down and then Hogan body slamming (one of the biggest replayed moments ever) and pinning Andre to one of the biggest reactions ever, Ultimate Warrior defeating Hulk Hogan (first time anyone had done so cleanly since the Hulkamania run began) for the WWF Title and holding up both the World and Intercontinental Championships in the air, Shawn Michaels on his knees looking at the WWF Championship while Vince says on commentary that "the boyhood dream has come true", Austin raising the WWF Championship in the air and JR saying "the Stone Cold era has begun", Benoit and Eddie embracing each other with a hug while standing as the respective world championships of the company, Batista defeating HHH to become WHC, etc.

Not only is main eventing Wrestlemania a huge accolade, but it guarantees the possibility of a bigger moment that will stand in the annals of time.

They're both huge, but I think being in the main event means more. The main is the most advertised and anticipated match. They're not going to let someone like Sheamus be in the main event of 'Mania just 3 years of debuting. However when you look at the Main Event of 'Mania 28 you have Cena & Rock. And well the main event is simply put the most important match on the card in most cases.

I was watching the Mania 23 intro and it explained Wrestlemania perfectly. Will post it here: Watch the first intro, Then skip the America song then the next intro plays. Really good.

I think a moment means more than than the Main Event, Look at Razor Vs Michaels and how amazing and jaw dropping that match was compared to its Main Event of Yokozuna Vs Bret Hart, When people think about Mania 10 they dont look at Bret Vs Zuna they look at Razor Vs Michaels. Mania is about moments.

I like the WWE Championship match to be The Main Event of WrestleMania. However, there are circumstances where it shouldn't be. The main event of WM X-8 obviously should have been The Rock vs Hollywood Hogan, not HHH vs. Jericho. But usually, the WWE Title should be the last match of WM. They always love to call more than one match the "Main Event" but I agree with CM Punk. The match that closes the show is *The* Main Event.

My biggest criteria for a WM Main Event is the match with the biggest star power. I like legend vs legend, face vs face, legend vs new star....I like an unpredictable main event. A hot crowd is the best, the right crowd can make an average match a classic in this environment.

Here's a list of who has the most true "WRESTLE MANIA Main Events" (last match of the show):
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1. Hulk Hogan* - 8 WM Main Events
2. HHH - 6
3. (TIE). John Cena - 5
3. (TIE) The Rock - 5
3. (TIE)HBK - 5
4. (TIE) Stone Cold - 3
4. (TIE)The Undertaker - 3
5. (TIE) Bret Hart* - 2
5. (TIE) Macho Man - 2
5. (TIE) Yokozuna - 2
5. (TIE) Sid - 2
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

* = I'm giving Hogan the credit for WM 9, not Hart, since Hogan was in the last official match, beating Yokozuna for the WWF Title.

I predict Cena will eventually surpass Hogan atop this list.
