Since they basically announced like 80% of the wrasslers who will be in the Royal Rumble...
It got me to thinking... Would it have been better without such a large confirmed list?

We have 22 wrestlers who we know will be in it, only leaving 8 spots for speculation and surprise. I feel like it would have been better to have at least half of the wrestlers be a surprise. Like 15 they can tell us, 15 we will have no idea. I know it may not make that much of a difference since it is still randomized, but I just like the extra surprise of really not knowing who will come out next. Maybe I am alone with that.

What do you guys think?

well I guess the surprise comes from not knowing which order the 22 confirmed and 8 unlisted will come out.

Have they always revealed this many tho?

Also... I bet they confirm more for betting purposes. Kind of hard to bet on someone coming out at a given number (if most of them are not confirmed before hand).

That's smart...too smart for WWE they wouldn't do anything to make more people watch lol.

Honestly, I miss the whole spinning thingie where the guys got their balls for the Royal Rumble.

Has nothing to do with the topic but hey, it's a thing!

Yeah like if they only announced Brock and goldberg, maybe a couple more, and left guys like undertaker a secret, that would have been way better. Because now we're expecting that gong to hit... could you imaaaagine if it wasnt announced before hand? That place would have fucking exploded!

I miss that drawing they did too. I know some of the segments were cheesy but it was fun to watch. :okay:

It nearly writes itself...say Goldberg, Lesnar, Orton, Wyatt, Strowman, Corbin & Kane
are left in the ring and then Finn Balor as the Demon King returns at number 29 and
then after another 2 minutes the arena once again goes dark...and...

*Gong*

And then the entire crowd looses it shit and everyone at home falls to their knees in
front of their TVs and Thanks the WWE for finally being awesome again...lol

As for the OP... hmmm. I guess for newer fans it's better if they don't get all the names out there, since you'll assume all the top of the card guys are over there, but don't tell us that dudes who have no shot of winning are getting Rumble appearances too...

But personally I don't see it as too big of a deal, as we know if they announce 10 main eventers we figure the other 12 people on the list are getting in too...

Guess Grievous is right with the Undertaker example because WWE knows - and the fans they listen to all the time who are "smart to the business" and "know how to promote" do - that announcing big names in the Rumble = more money while random dudes popping up = less buys... but come on, that shock factor is enough. Doubt Undertaker would have drawn many more buys than just bringing back the surprise factor this product desperately needs does.

Thanks for the shout out Snowman...

That's what the WWE needs...those "Holy Shit...I don't believe it!!!" moments...And I'm not talking
about booking 86 second long squash matches...although I did enjoy that.

I know when I write my (Fantasy) booking suggestions...I always try to write those kind of moments...moments that fans will always remember...like Kane's debut or Rollins cashing-in at Wrestlemania.

Make the wrestling great...but make the "moments" as epic and shocking as possible...

The WWE seems to have forgotten that they are essentially a theater company mixed with sport.

The "sports" side has never been better...but they need to embrace the dramatic and sometimes
chaotic theater side to truly push their product in a positive direction.

Eh, it isn't such a big deal to me that they've already announced so many names.

Plus, they needed to announce huge names like Taker, Lesnar, Goldberg, in order to gain more buys and more interest from people.
