As Dave Scherer wrote yesterday, word has been making the rounds in recent days that the Milton Wilpon/Peter Karoftis/Sean Davis Florida upstart, which we know now has been named Worldwide Wrestling Promotions, was pushing back its planned Fall launch for January 2011. The delay was confirmed to the roster and staff of WWP in an email early this morning from Sean Davis, real name R. Sean Pascoe, who noted they now planned to launch in the early part of 2011, but didn't have a firm date.

In the email, which PWInsider.com acquired from numerous sources, Davis wrote that "the financing side" of the company told the wrestling side, "our original time table is not at all feasible. While we were all committed to launching in October we know now that has become an impossible goal. Our new goal is to start operations in the first part of the new year however we do not as of today have a firm date. That unfortunately means that contracts will have to be changed to a new starting date."

Pascoe went on to explain that while he "fought this decision KICKING AND SCREAMING (literally)", that the "corporate side of the company" feels the delay has to happen. He warned the roster that "unfortunately it comes down to either this move is made or this company does not move forward."

Pascoe told the wrestlers and staffers that they would be issued contract addendums drawn up by WWP's attorney and if the talent didn't wish to sign them, he understood. Pascoe told those emailed, "You will still be welcome to come back to work for us in the future once we are up and running in the early part of the new year. For those of you that sign the contract addendums you will be receiving extra shares of company stock and the addendums will also spell out our full health and benefits plan that will be made available to you."

Pascoe noted that the company has been hit with "more than our fair share of bumps", blaming it on "many forces in the wrestling business." Pascoe wrote these forces were "doing whatever they can to sabotage everything we are trying to do and doing everything in their power to make sure that this company will never launch. I can promise you though that no matter how many hurdles we have to jump over that there are people here dedicated to doing everything they can to make sure this company WILL launch and we will be a long time player in this industry."

Pascoe declared that WWP was not launching "a new independent promotion or something that is going to be on the long list of fly by night wrestling companies that have come and gone." He wrote that they are planning on "becoming over the next decade the premiere wrestling company in the world" but that "obviously does not happen overnight."

Pascoe also promised details on several deals that the company had completed in "the next few weeks."

As all this is going on PWInsider.com can confirm that representatives of the upstart WWP have been reaching out to a number of known power players in the business, including Paul Heyman and Jerry Jarrett.

Signed Wrestlers include:

X Pac
Vader
2 Cold Scorpio
Sonjay Dutt
Rocky Romero
Super Crazy
Booker T
Paul London
Hijo Del Rey Misterio

2 Cold's going to be there? He was great at HardCORE Justice but the question is whether he can keep that up. As for the rest of the talent, It looks impressive. I can see Booker T being a main eventer. We need more talent announced to be able to judge the shows properly but considering TNA stars aren't happy, a few may jump ship to this new promising promotion. Wasn't Booker supposed to be returning to TNA or was that just for a house show?

I think it's too early to really judge the roster, but as it stands now, for the first 7-8 guys signed i'm not too impressed. Some good wrestlers, but nothing to get a good buzz about the show. If they were signing guys like Christopher Daniels, WGTT, and Homicide, I might say watch out.

I think 2 Cold had a one show deal. I haven't watched TNA lately.

I can see Booker as a main eventer, however i wouldn't want to have to build the company around him.

Looks like they could have a real good light heavyweight division. Romero, Dutt, Hijo are nice adds to the roster. If London can focus he would be a good asset too.

Thing is, With the new talent they have (Booker T, Paul London, Vader) it could be easy to gain some extra talent. I mean, People like T and London work the indys and London especially, maybe able to bring in some new talen.

2 Cold had a one-night deal with TNA but it really is a shame that he isn't going to work there (I think he'd be a big asset to the Fortune/EV angle.

I agree with you on Booker. I don't think it would be wise for WWWP to build a company around him, Especially since he's getting older.

Hell, Vader as an authority figure? I'd rather he be a manager. As for the GM, I don't think they will have one. I would like them to have no GM at all and just have a backstage authority figure who is never seen and the matches are handled by either the creative department or a challenge by one wrestler to the other. I wonder who the announcers/commentators will be?

They would need an on-screen authority figure recently or people would start realizing they have a back-stage one since the stars wouldn't be doing what ever they wanted.. and Vader as a manager is meh... he might be too tempted to "help" though..

^ So?

Without an on-air authority figure, It somewhat adds realism back into how the matches are created. On Smackdown, The Christian/Drew match that was on last nights episode was put there by WWE Maangement but we didn't need to know who signed the match. As long as the matches take place, Who cares who makes them? Sure, A heel GM could be fun but I'd rather this promotion focus more on wrestling than authority figures taking over and doing what we've seen countless times (Heel GM picks on face main eventer).

I think the WWP is worrying about getting a good core roster, before they focus on GM's and Managers. I'm sure they will what they got once the time comes.

I've heard rumors of Nash, Hall, and STeiner to this company too. It really is going to be a retirement home, ha ha.

It would be smart to get good wrestlers first. I don't understand why every major wrestling promotion has to have an onscreen authority figure. I am a fan of them sometimes (When they are a heel) but I dislike face GMs and would prefer the simpler method of not having anyone at all (And just have the wrestlers challenging eachother or have "WWP Management" put these matches together. It's oldschool to do that and I prefer it.

As for Nash leaving TNA when it appears that they are going to be on their biggest storyline would be ludacris. He's about to be involved in the biggest storyline in TNA so for him to do that would be stupid.

The biggest storyline in TNA? Hes not in the biggest one now, and definitely not ever. The Fourtune vs. EV storyline is bigger now and the MEM vs. Frontline would probably be one of the biggest. Sorry but hes just kinda in a minor storyline atm.

Update:

- Here is the latest on the WWP promotion out of Florida. There is no word from talents that have received the promised "addendum" to their contracts that Sean Davis informed the roster about several weeks ago. Most of the talent that had been signed to the company are taking a "wait and see" attitude. But it is also said that with each day that passes, the talent is less enthused about the project. As of today, there is said to still be movement internally on the project.
