World Series of Fighting 9 planned for March 29, company targeting Las Vegas to host
World Series of Fighting 8 takes place this Saturday night in Florida, but the promotion is already looking to the future for its next event, targeting its home base in Las Vegas for World Series of Fighting 9.
World Series of Fighting Executive Vice President and matchmaker Ali Abdel-Aziz today told MMAjunkie Radio that the promotion’s next event will take place on March 29, with Las Vegas serving as the likely home.
“MMA fans, they like to watch fights in Vegas,†Abdel-Aziz said.
World Series of Fighting is a Las Vegas-based promotion that has already hosted a pair of events in Sin City, including WSOF 1 in November 2012 and WSOF 3 in June 2013. The promotion’s debut event took place at the Strip’s Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino, while the third event was at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.
Abdel-Aziz declined to reveal which venue the promotion is hoping to book for WSOF 9.
Abdel-Aziz didn’t reveal any potential matchups for the card. However, Marlon Moraes previously told MMAjunkie he was targeting March for a chance to compete for the promotion’s inaugural bantamweight title.
Abdel-Aziz confirmed he hopes to book Moraes in a title fight if a suitable opponent can be found. However, he didn’t confirm whether or not March was indeed the most likely date for the contest.
