In case you haven't noticed, wrestlers show up on both shows to do business without kayfabe restriction. It's cool but then it made me wonder how much longer until the aforementioned unification happens. Maybe never. I know this concept didn't work in 2002 which led to the resurrection of the WHC. These days with so many belts floating,(although ECW is gone thank god), why not unify the main event belts again and allow more development of the US and IC titles.

There a large pool of main event guys that maybe feuds could last longer over ONE title and create anticipation for future one.

But that would mean them having to put more effort into non-title feuds. Also, the belt is the only way they know how to put people over anymore. The art of putting someone over without using a title is almost completely lost. Also people would bitch that wrestler X wasn't getting near the belt enough.

There are too many wrestlers to only have the one world title. It would be even less successful than in 2002 imo because then they had 5 (I think) mid card titles, if they did that now then maybe but I cannot see it happening. If anything WWE needs to get more titles not less, I would love to see the return of some mid card titles such as the European title and the Hardcore title(?) but the best would be the get the Cruiserweight title back because that is always certain to give us a spot monkey fest which is an entertaining start to the show.

The day the belts are unified is the day the rosters will be unified.

As long as there are two distinct brands there can never be one world title. That concept didn't last very long in 2002. If one brand would have the World title as their main rivalry then the other brand would have a main event rivalry without a belt. Judging from the main eventers on both brands I don't think anyone would want to sit through a feud with two of WWE's "top stars" without it being for a belt.

Well that's part of the problem. An interesting feud doesn't have to be for a title, though obviously whichever is for the title is going to get the most emphasis. It would simply just be awkward for a champion to be on RAW or Smackdown respectively for a multi month title program with someone while leaving the other show title-less.

I really wanted to see more important non-title feuds. Look at Mania. HBK/Taker couldn't be bigger even if it were for a title.

I was also trying to press the mid-card title picture. It's been much better in the last 2 years but without too many world title you could make new stars through the US and IC titles.
