With Santiago Ponzinibbio out, Jordan Mein gets new UFC on FOX 11 opponent
With “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 2″ veteran Santiago Ponzinibbio (18-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) out, welterweight Jordan Mein (27-9 MMA, 1-1 UFC) has a new opponent for UFC on FOX 11.
UFC officials today announced newcomer Hernani Perpetuo (17-3 MMA, 0-0 UFC) has stepped in as a replacement. A reason wasn’t given for Ponzinibbio’s scratch.
UFC on FOX 11 takes place April 19 at Amway Center in Orlando. The main card airs on FOX following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
Mein vs. Perpetuo will likely be part of the prelims.
Perpetuo, who signed with the UFC in October, boasts an official eight-fight winning streak. The Nova Uniao fighter and Shooto champ fights for the first time since his August title win over Tommy Depret.
Mein’s most recent appearance brought his first UFC loss when Matt Brown pounded him out at UFC on FOX 7, which snapped a three-fight winning streak. A standout in the now-defunct Strikeforce promotion, the Canadian signed with the UFC after a 2-1 run in the organization.
The latest UFC on FOX 11 card includes:
Travis Browne vs. Fabricio Werdum
Liz Carmouche vs. Miesha Tate
