A featherweight title fight between champion Jose Aldo and challenger Chad Mendes had been penciled in by most for the UFC 133 card in Philadelphia. After all, that's what Dana White announced at the UFC 129 post-fight press conference. While he didn't say it was a lock, he made it pretty clear that the fight would take place there. But that's starting to look less and less likely. Sherdog spoke with Team Alpha Male BJJ coach Fabio "Pateta" Prado, and he indicated that the fight could be moved:

"Both sides have agreed to the fight, but it’s not officially set," said Prado, in Rio de Janeiro to back another protégé, Strikeforce veteran Derrick Burnsed, at Jungle Fight 28. "We’re already working on facing Jose Aldo at UFC 133, but there is a chance for that fight to happen at UFC 134. As far as I know, people from Brazil are pressuring [UFC President] Dana [White] in an attempt to convince him."

The UFC officially announced UFC 133 earlier this week, and the event is coined "Evans vs. Davis". Dana has stated in the past that title matches would always take top billing, so that seems to be another indicator that the fight might be moved. It wouldn't hurt to have a native Brazilian defending his title in the main event of a card in Rio either. Andre Pederneiras, Nova Uniao's head trainer, is competely in the dark on the issue:

"I can’t say anything until it’s official," he said. "We’re listening to the rumors. I think that fight will happen, but there’s no contract yet, so there’s no fight yet."

Do you want to see Aldo headline in his own country? Or would it be a better fight in Philly on August 6th?
