Few things I would like to discuss regarding Vince's character and storyline development.
As we all know that Vince was known as a side-ring commentator before the attitude era. Then when Bret did what he did, Vince started exposing himself more as the chairman of the business. Then the good ole SCSA's feud. Now to Orton/ Legacy feud.

Now remember the car accident storyline? when Benoit dead; Vince broke that storyline and stood there in front of the ring and dedicated the 3 hour show to Benoit.
1-Why didnt Shane do that instead?? Why did Vince ruin a storyline that would have been one of the strongest post attitude era?!
2-Why didnt he come stronger after the attitude era? He always get joked around whether by DX or SCSA. Why didnt he develop the character to more dominant person rather than being beaten up from superstars and got humilated? Thats not what the highest rank should be doing. He should have left Shane or a GM get this instead of him.

Why im saying this is because when I hear his entrance I dont get that poped up as I dont feel his character as a true BOSS.

After the return, he became naive and his character has nothing really to it. I felt his appearance was useless in the current feud. They could have survived with HHH's wife being RKO'ed and that would piss both the husband and the brother.

Reasons:

Kayfaybe:
*His age (You mention Vince being naive... He underestimates the tretchery of the younger generation.)
*(relative) physical frailty of a man his age.

Non-kayfaybe:
*If Vince manned-up too much he'd render the majority of the heels in the company useless.
*Have Vince fueding all the time as it's the ultimate push for whoever he's clashing with.

I think we're experiencing the evolution between Mr McMahon & a new character who'll slowly become this wacky, senile old guy that should have been voted off the board years ago.... Personally I think it's a cool way for him to go.

Imagine some of the traits of nervous breakdown, Invasion-era Austin but with Vince... I think it = Laughs.

Well, the first one is just a case of class. When it comes down to it, Vince didn't have to break the death storyline. WWE has acknowledged for a long time that what happens on TV is storyline, and that they are just characters on a TV show. So really, they could've had him do out of character stuff, as Vince the person, on talk shows liek CNN and stuff, and kept his death storyline going on TV, because that's Vince the character. But I guess just out of respect he didn't wanna do that, and even though he could've kep tthe storyline going, trashing the whole storyline was the best idea, because no one really wants to do a death storlyine, when someone on the show just died.

As for the 2nd thing, because it pleases people. No one wants to see him beat down people. If he was the strong one, the marks would be upset that the faces are losing, and the internet fans would be upset that he isnt putting anyone over.

First off, I think he dropped the angle because it would have been very tasteless to continue it in light of what had happened.

Now as for Vince not really being a focal character anymore, simply put I just don't think the fans care about him as much as they did. After the invasion angle the fans started to get sick of seeing the McMahons and TV and voted with their voices and their wallets, hence why the family were taken off of TV for a while. The bottom line is that Vince will never again be as over as he was in the Attitude era because that time has passed.

Pretty sure that the WWE hasn't known how to properly book anybody short-term long-term any term since the attitude days.

Chris benoit situation is a lot more serious then a storyline tard. Their whole existence should be wiped. Concussions are under a microscope and are deemed as serious business.

I think Vince does his job perfect. He knows when to step back from the action for a while and exactlly when to come in and participate.
Vince is one of the most unusual characters in the WWE. As the boss, he's a natural heel. However, even when he's in that mode he can come out and make an announcement and get a pop from it.
Whenever he's gone for an extended period of time he comes out completely neutral until he says a single word that can sway him otherwise.

I look at Vince as an extreme way to put someone over in a storyline without jeopordizing anyone else's credability. Austin's feud with Vince did wonders for him...skyrocketing his popularity at a face.
Rock aligning with Vince did wonders for him as a heel.

He steps up to the plate whenever he is needed and a feud with Vince as said is the ultimate power struggle... he's pretty much the only non-wrestler who can make or break a character.

Okay, but why not try to actually come once a month and rather than helping the heels, he would save the face? So his appearance would be good for a change.

Its not the first time someone from the business passed away, but they continued their angles and storylines and they just add a moment or an appreciation match for the dead guy.. (Like Bret vs Benoit for Owen's sake...as an example).

But this time, his return was not more than the word LAME. He should have actually made a bigger impact after all that time of absence.

Thats why im saying, he could save his return for a bigger impact and leave the small things for his son or daughter to do or perform.

Im not asking for him to be on TV every week. But every once in a while makes an appearance that would actually gives us the impression that he is the boss and is in control! And the rest could be taken care of by GM or the younger McMahons.

True, but it's the first time they'd been doing a storyline that focused on the 'death' of a big character at the same time. Continuing would have lost them more fans than it would have gained.

^^^Thanks, saved me some typing.

As for why doesn't he come out and save faces..... Same reason Edge doesn't..... He's a top heel, but as Mike said earlier... He's pretty unique in that he can generate cheers even when he's in a heel role.

As for WS's last point.... Simple. He's the chairman of the board, not a GENERAL MANAGER. Even then, he still came out to (almost) fire Jericho & Orton and HE was the one that gave away all the money, so to an extent what your asking for IS already happening.

Apparently not, you typed anyways :shifty:
But Jimmy D basically summed up that part, to elaborate on what em and Airfixx were saying. People have died before, and if they had been doing a death storyline then, they would've stopped it as well.
Besides, I think the death storyline had an OK ending. He came out after and said he faked his death to see if people really cared about him. At least they had a logical end to it.

Ok everybody news flash here.

Concussions are under a microscope by health boards everywhere.

Wrestling and concussions go together like butter and bread.

The main speculation between Chris benoit snapping was rage caused by steroids and Taking too many to the head which reduced his brain to a childs (Concussions)

the whole existance of the WWE was in question. They had no fucking idea what the future was going to present them and they were in damage control.

Of course it's their fault Chris benoit is so battered and broken he can't think straight. He's been doing flying headbutts everyday for almost a decade.

Chris nowinski, remember that guy from Harvard? He suffered a concussion and has been trying to raise awareness. When this happened he was booked all over American Television. WWE was panicked and they weren't going to care about a fucking storyline. This is obviously bigger then whats going to happen on Raw or Smackdown. Storyline was fucking Blue and completely distasteful no one was buying that crap. Only the fucking tards in IWC who were all giddy that their favourite up and comer was going to turn out to be Vince's son liked that storyline. When this happened it was obvious they had to go back to traditional wrestling and completely eliminated submissions for a couple of months. Except for their boy toy John Cena. Then months later it was figureheads Triple h and HBK who brought back submissions. It was damage control 101

fucking guys how is that not obvious
