This thread is simple. Here is why i like ROH, more so than wwe/tna. Some reasons people might not know about.
- Interactive
Sure the wwe does Cyber Sunday and text polls, but how interactive is the wwe really. ROH is completely intervactive on their board. Everyone from show names, locations, pushes, making matches, and what not. Generally most of the show names come from members on the ROH board. Fans can request matches in their city. The Booker of ROH Gabe is on the message board daily giving ROH Updates. If you go to the show, you can meet the owner Cary Silkin as he is generally around before and after the show shaking hands and meeting the fans.
- Fueds
They have some of the best fueds in the past twenty years. Generally in the other promotions if you see a match once, you've seen in all. Not the case with ROH. As a fued grows, the heat is escalated, thus making each match more meaning. As the emotion grows, so do the stakes. It makes it easy to follow and provides some heated exchanged with reasoning behind it.
- Tag Teams / Faction
Numerous Tag Teams and Faction run all over ROH. They feature the best tag teams of any promotion in my opinion, and its not a secondary meaningless title. The ROH Tag belts hold mean. Its a main event level spot holding those belts.
- Top Notch Wrestling
ROH puts on **** matches just about every show. THey really changed the rating scale as far as ratings go. To get ahead on the roster, you must be able to produce in the ring AND be over. Very basic to their loyal fans. Technical, Hardcore, High Flying, comedy, you name ROH has it, and on almost every show.
- Different Approach to booking
We've seen it all in wwe again and again. ROH has their different events. They do back to back shows. They are show too. Its basically a Raw combined with PPV matches. So you get the sizzle and steak all in one show. They promote tournaments. They promote outside talent coming in. A hot feud in a speciality match can main event opposed to the title match. Basically their approach is different because most every show is meaningful but they still build up to 4 major shows. Just about daily they come out with a newswire update featuring new matches being booked and company news. This gives a quick refernce to follow the company.
-Value
No its not on free tv, but their ppv's are like 10$ and their dvd's go from 10-20$ Its not like a 30-50$ PPV where you watch and you are done. You actually have the dvd to watch again, and their shows are good to the point you would actually rewatch shows. And lets say you didnt like a dvd, they still hold value on ebay. They go for a average of 8-10$ used on ebay. PLus you can get tickets to their live show for as low as 10$. And those seats are something only 10 yards from the ring. Its great seating in a great atmosphere.
- Characters/Roster
Their characters can tell a story in the ring with emotion. They arent afraid to lose a talent because they bring in the best in the indys. They bring in international talent. They have a variety of characters, from entertainment based characters, to comedy characters, to real life wrestlers. It features a solid mix. They have a big guys, but they wrestle like monsters, not look like a actual monster. (morishima)
Video Wire-
Like their weekly 10 minute recap show on youtube. It serves its purpose, and not just promotes its dvds, but rather upcoming shows and storylines.
Belts
They hold value.
Freedom
To me it feels like the ROH wrestlers have a lot more freedom in the ring and on the mic. I just watched the Larry Sweeney show and he held no punches. This go completely ripped apart people in the crowd. It has the feel that its their real personalty and anything can be said. Not like its scripted.
Spoiler/Surprises
ROH does an excellent job at holding in "Big Announcement" and storylines. Project 161/aotf was one of the best put together surprises. Lots of theories and rumors but no one really knows for sure.
Well, enough ass kissing. I was bored at work. Anyways if anyone has any comments or additional reasons, feel free.
