Why Goldust vs. Cody Rhodes Match Never Happened

Former WWE Superstar Goldust revealed in a recent PWTorch Livecast that he pitched the idea of facing Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania first on Twitter, then Triple H and WWE writers, but when the idea was presented to Vince McMahon, McMahon turned down the match idea.

Goldust said he was understanding since it's McMahon's company and he makes the decisions, but he felt like the match "could have been money" and added to the Mania card.

Goldust also stated in the Livecast that he would still like the match to happen in the future if he returns to WWE.

So then... Vince thought it would be a great idea to have a Big useless fucker bury one of their best young talents - just so he could get his "Wrestlemania moment" - instead of having an potentially very interesting family storyline between two good to very good workers that could have put Cody over.

It would have been better than what we got but Golddust was well below Rhodes at this point. It wouldn't have helped Cody a great deal IMO.

If they had started to build the feud and Goldust right after Cody's feud with Booker ended, around December/January, it would've been great. The match itself would've been a lot better, and Cody would've gotten over instead of being buried. Everything would've been just right, but good old Vince had to crap on everything once again.

It would have been better than what we got but Golddust was well below Rhodes at this point. It wouldn't have helped Cody a great deal IMO.

It would have helped him a helluva lot more than being buried by Big Show, and have been more entertaining as well.
