After much speculation and different stories from Dolph Ziggler himself, PWInsider has confirmed that Ziggler is indeed signed to a new WWE contract.

Ziggler is "out of action indefinitely" in the WWE storylines because he's going to Vancouver this week to star in a WWE Studios thriller titled "6:42." Dolph's character will be a cop named Ray Fitzpatrick, who has to overcome his past while dealing with a plot to blow up a child with a bomb strapped to their chest.

Filming is scheduled to go on for four weeks, which will put Ziggler back on WWE TV in mid-August before SummerSlam.

lol Sounds like a role that would have been greatly suited for Cena.

Once he's back I hope they end the feud with Rusev ASAP.

I have to agree with Lockard on this one. That sounds more like a Cena role (or even a Miz role), but having seen one WWE movie with a naturally funny guy (The Big Show) that pretty well stunk up the joint (Knucklehead), I would worry about a comedy movie featuring another naturally funny guy from WWE Films.

So, hope this goes well for Dolph.

Hmmm. Haven't we seen this movie character from WWE before with Dean Ambrose, Randy Orton as well as John? I can't but think that Roman Reigns will be next, playing a security guard rescuing his beloved while overcoming an alcohol addiction. Ha! I shouldn't be surprised.

Fair point. We also saw it with Ted DiBiase, Jr., and Ken Kennedy, but I digress.

I would love to see a well-written, well-executed comedy with Dolph Ziggler in the main role.

For that matter, I'd enjoy watching such a comedy with The Big Show in the main role, too (God, Knucklehead was such a terrible film!).

I would rather have him in the ring than in WWE movies... Still, maybe it'll be something worth watching. I'll hold my judgement until it comes out.

Did you ever see Rowdy Piper act before? He was really good and really totally different from how I remember him when he was wrestling.

WWE are obsessed with putting their guys in some kind of uniform in these movies.

They could have worded the plot a little better- sounds like he's trying to blow up a child that happens to have a bomb strapped to them.
I'll give it a watch, but I can't say I'm super excited about it (unlike 12 Rounds 3)

Hopefully he'd be playing a silent security guard whose only job was to look angry and kick ass every once in awhile, because Roman Reigns and Acting don't mesh well together.

On another note, I wonder if it's only a matter of time before they stick Hulk Hogan in one of these crappy films from WWE Studios? It's not like the few movies he made in the past were of particularly high-quality either, and he's always more than eager to stick his face on anything that WWE is willing to let him to.

While I am glad that Ziggler is staying in WWE, I can't help but be surprised that he is in a starring role.
I would suspect that he might be better fit for a role as a stuntman what with how committed he is at selling moves.

And They Live is an awesome movie.
