-- TNA's Slammiversary pay-per-view event at the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven, Mississippi two weeks ago drew approximately 2,000 paying fans. Total attendance was said to be around 6,000 to 7,000 fans, so over half of audience got in for free. In comparison, the indy show featuring Hulk Hogan drew 2,200 paid in nearby Memphis last year.

Really, why do they give away that amount of free tickets?

Because they want to give the impression of a large crowd - something they cannot seem to achieve without freebies :(

I can't see that being true, maybe they gave away some free tickets but I can't see the firgures being that high. Like if they gave away the tickets on the day (which they probabl would have if they wanted to increase the attendance) then it would be a small chance that all of the people would be able to make it on such short notice but maybe things are different than how I see them.

Anyway: Why do WWE give away free money?

They give away the free tickets because they cannot fill a house. They should be working smaller venues, but if they wan't to try and keep up with WWE, they can't do that. With the free tickets the gave away, I bet they did make money on T-Shirts and stuff like that.

its the same thing that WCW did when they were starting to get big. Sure it also hurt them in the long run it made them the top business for a period of time. maybe TNA is hoping for similar results.

^^Exactly...It's like when a new product comes out...Like for example i remeber when Siarre Mist or h/e you spell it came out...There were giving it away for free at the mall as a way to attract people...It's basically the samething for TNA...Even though there not wet from the womb...There still not popular enough to draw a huge crowd...

Damn, I too find it hard to believe that they gave away that many free tickets. I guess they can still make money through merchandise sales. I hope that nobody goes to Hard Justice so I can get in for free!

Because TNA is such a threat to WWE, that they feel the need to throw WWE a bone by giving away tickets :shifty:
