At WrestleMania XXX, two epic events took place:
1. Daniel Bryan finally captured the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, rounding out his 8-month journey back to the gold.
2. Brock Lesnar ended ‘The Streak’.
Online wrestling speculators are running heavy with the idea that Brock Lesnar and Daniel Bryan will be squaring off for the richest prize in professional wrestling. However, I have a problem with this due to the fact that it is simply too soon for this to occur. This is simply a lose-lose situation in the sense that both men can’t afford a loss this quickly after WrestleMania. Daniel Bryan must have credible challengers to solidify himself as a credible WWE Heavyweight Champion. However, right out of the gate 4 of the top superstars in the WWE are tied up in feuds following this week’s events on WWE TV. John Cena and Bray Wyatt seem to be heading toward a collision at WWE Extreme Rules and an Evolution reunion just happened with the threat of The Shield looming over their collective heads. If Bryan were to lose the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in his first major title defense to Brock Lesnar at Extreme Rules, than his entire journey of trials and tribulations will be flushed down the toilet because no one who was along for the ride that started at SummerSlam 2013 would want to see his title reign conclude after one month. It was symbolize that Daniel Bryan is a fluke champion and make the Authority’s sentiments on Bryan as a “B+ Player” legitimate. Bryan doesn’t have to lose at all, however, if he doesn’t that means that Brock Lesnar does.
If Brock Lesnar loses less than a month following all the events that have taken place at WrestleMania, he’ll be right back to where he was following his 2012 defeat to John Cena, the aura of ‘Conquer’ would be lost again and there isn’t anything that could possibly bring it back.
I would personally love to see a Daniel Bryan vs. Brock Lesnar match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. However, I believe it should be held at SummerSlam. SummerSlam is the 2nd biggest PPV event of the year, which virtually guarantees a Lesnar appearance, and I believe that Daniel Bryan will be champion walking into SummerSlam. It may not be an uninterrupted reign, but he will be champion walking into the Staples Center in Los Angeles nonetheless.
Then that would be a match for the ages.
