This has kinda bothered me for a while now. It seems like no one uses submission moves anymore to win matches. Even the Figure Four Leglock by Ric Flair gets no one to submit these days.

I think that when wrestling got more extreme, during the attitude era, the technical wrestling style was moved aside in favour of sheer violence, tables, chairs, blood and brawling.

any thoughts?

Chris Benoit? I doubt it, but it could be a reason. That and the fact that Angle is now gone, you pretty much lost your 2 best submission guys. They used their moves in almost every match. I honestly cant even think of anyone else who uses a submission for a finisher besides Cena who is out at the moment and Jericho, who isnt really the same right now.

umm.. what about the triangle hold by the Undertaker?.. Vice grip by Khali? lol Even Bear-hug by Mark Henry... :g:

also i remember in the old days, people like Ted Dibiase and Roddy Pipper for example, used the sleeper hold as a finisher. Nowadays its just a joke so it has no effect whatsoever.

It was the same deal before and during the Attitude Era. When someone locked in a submission, it was doubtful that they'd win the match. Even with sleeper holds like now... sigh

I think its because people want to see Jeff Hardy high flying sort of wrestling these days instead of technical wrestling. But now with no Benoit or Angle the only time people win by submission is the underdog against the massive guy (mostly Khali). Cena vs Khali, Taker vs Khali.
