You can have a fight that is sanctioned under MMA rules that looms like a simplistic fight under anothe discipline. That's the beauty of MMA. You can have matches that are basically all boxing, all kickboxing, all grappling, ect but generally you will get a mix of a few different disciples. And thus it's name. Mixed martial arts.

Even if both guys used kung fu exclusively it would not be a pure Kung fu match because the threat of the other disciplines changes the mindset compared to being in a straight Kung fu match
