Which character would make you lose your mind if changed?

This has come up in conversation amongst friends, was wondering here what you guys would say.

There have been characters over the years who have been changed for various reasons, is there a character in particular that you would just lose your shit/generally be bothered if they changed them? Gender, ethnicity, character in general (like it's a completely new, made up person taking over). Can be from anywhere, comics, TV show, movie, etc.

Yeah probably not. If they did some shit that made no sense with a change I'd find it more hilarious that not, like a gender swap that has to rework the whole story or some shit

But the old versions still exist so I wouldn't have to watch the new and if they suck no one else will either and they won't make anymore so idc really

I think arbitrarily changing the gender or other defining feature of a beloved character without a reason to could be incredibly infuriating, especially if done in such a piss poor way.

I think the most famous modern example of this whole idea is Doctor Who. The character of The Doctor was well established as a male for over 50 years and then they turned the character into a woman. I'm not necessarily against that but when the writing is awful and the person you choose, although a lovely person in real life, has the personality of a drip can, it surely can be extremely infuriating. To me, the entire reason they changed the gender of The Doctor is merely because *they could*, not whether or not they *should have*.


A female Batman is another example of something I imagine would have an extreme amount of obstacles to overcome, especially since the entire story would have to be re-worked to even make it work.

I'm sure it could be infuriating to a lot of people but not to me lol I just won't watch, plenty if other Batman stuff out there if I don't wanna watch a girl one

I don't know if you're including games in this but the way they changed Chris Redfield in Resident Evil 7 REALLY bothered me

I was glad to see them bring his look back in RE8

If Bubsy didn't have repetitive obnoxious jokes that'd annoy me. I didn't mind his updated look to be modern in the recent games but if the jokes don't stay horrible, I'm out.

Douda in The Chi. He's the gang lord, mayor of Chicago, and would kill his own men without blinking an eye. If the writers altered his character, it would hurt the show.
