In the segment involving The Rock and Mankind, 'This is your Life'?

I believe it earned a +8 rating and is the highest rated segment of RAW history. Mankind called out people from The Rock's past, The Rock made a few jokes, insulted the people that Mankind had brought out, Mankind gifted a jacket to him and he brought out a clown and a cake thinking it was The Rock's birthday and stuff.
So what? It wasn't really 'that' funny.

I've seen some amazing segments that deserved more, hell even Mankind winning the Championship on RAW was better than this. I mean think of it, Stone Cold's beerbath, Chris Jericho's debut, Kane being confronted by The Undertaker, all were better.

Is it just that more people watched RAW that night for some odd reason and the segment achieved the high rating or was it actually the single greatest segment of wrestling history?

What are your thoughts on 'This is your Life'?

It was okay, but I agree that it wasn't that funny - not even as rib-tickling as some other Rock-Mankind segments tbh.

Stone Cold's beerbath sucked a massive hairy cock. This is your life was way better. It was a good segment, although it definitely isn't the best ever.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's the ANTICIPATION of a segment which garners it's rating, NOT how good it WAS.

Rock/Foley/This is your life was simply the MOST WATCHED segment, not ranked the best or funniest.

^^^^Exactly! Plus WCW was probably running something awful that made more fans switch over than usual.

This is how it works. Someone's watching a segment, they call their friend and tell them to turn to raw or whatever, the friend then calls someone else until eventually a lot of people are watching. That's probably what happened and that's where a lot of viewers are gained.

You could have te most disapointing and awful segment of all time still get the highest rating. So the lead up to it basically dictates how good the rating will be. Plus, like spiralshock said, people may hear about it, and call thei rfriends, and then as they're watching it, and it'd funny, call someone else, etc...

So the rating has nothing to do with how good the segment was. With that being said, it's one of my all time favourite segments. Just classic.
