Hey. So its like this. I hate my job.....a lot. I won't go into why, but bottom line is, I'm kinda sick of retail and truth be told I don't know if its just the company that I'm really sick of, retail in genreal or management in genreal or if the company is what makes me thing it might be retail or management. So I'm basically looking to go into a completely different direction.

The problems are as follows....
1) I only have a high school diploma and I can't aford to go back to school.
2) I need a job that will bring home at least what I make now
3) The job can't suck
Just to name a few.

Bottom line is I'm just looking for ideas here. Tell me about your job, does it pay well, jobs you've had in the past, jobs your friends have whatever. Tell me anything you know about a paticular job or company to work for. Whatever and as much info you have would be greatly appreciated. Even if it is retail oriented I'm willing to entertain just about anything as I know the primary reason for not liking my job is the company I'm with right now.

Thanks.

Have you thought about becoming a driver. Whether it is local delivery or over the road. It pays good, 50000-60000 a year US. Thats what I did for a year. When I get my license I am going back. Look into some courier companies. UPS that sort of thing. Have you looked into a railroad job? postal service job? construction job? You could get on a union and work a year doing bitch work at 15.00 an hour for like 12 hours a day. then become an operator and sit in a peice of machinery all day. I know its long hours but as an operator you would make like $30 an hour. Depending on the work. It doesnt leave you a lot of family time.

My suggestion. Stay where you are now, and go to a Community College or something in your area. They have loan programs and such. Do some research on something else you would want to do. I am sure you could find a local community college or trade school that you would be able to get a loan, a grant, anything. There is money for schooling man, just go to the school and talk to a counselor, I am sure they can find something for you. And then shit, either take night classes or morning classes depending on your work schedule. or tell them that you need the certain schedule. But its going to be hard to have a good paying 9-5 job that isnt management, retail, or bitch work that you are working all day without some sort of Degree. Thats my suggestion man, and like I said, I am sure the counselors would be able to give you some answers on how to go back to school :D

I have thought about applying at somewhere like UPS or Purolator (Purolator is a canadian courier company owned by Canada Post) Canada Post though I had thought of as well but is less likely for the fact that my Dad was the top guy for Canada Post. He started out as a letter carrier and worked his way to the top. The only person he answered to is the goverment. To this day people who I know that work for Canada Post now, many who never even met my dad, as soon as they find out my last name are like "wait, your not Douglas Buss' son are you?" My dad left a legacy there that I could never live up to. When my dad retired they had such a hard time filling the position with competent people there are now 5 people doing my dads job.

As for the courier, its a thought though driving wouldn't happen right aways. I know that up here anyways, because of unions the driving gigs go to the people who have been there the longest.

I looked into other jobs that might require some sort of driving/delivery but most I'm finding require you to use your own vehicle which would a) seriously raise my inssurance rates and b) would be a violation of my lease since I lease my car.

uh yeah, thanks for nothing? idiot.

take out a loan and open up a small business.. maybe something wrestling related...

Believe me thought about that as well. Not sure how all this wrestling scandle stuff would have effected the buisness. I'd have a hard time getting a loan though since I don't really have anything to offer as colatoral. And I also know very little about starting a buisness....that doesn't mean a web buisness which would have lower start up costs wouldn't be out of the question, but I'd still need quite a bit of help as in tools needed and how to get started.

Great One

Hm... some sort of a local warehouse job would be good pay, but I think you would probably end up hating that too. =p

Well i havent work anything else beside my current job, that is specialized in Nuclear Medicine, so i cant help you about labour kind of work. So my suggestion will be:
As you have good experience in computers, why not applying for a certified society (as a teaching staff) for people to get a diploma in computers and/or secretary.
