What exactly is it? Like something that makes it a must see match? Like undertaker's streak and the rock and cena was a huge draw. Just something that makes you wanna see it? Also, what does it take to be a draw? Cuz CM Punk and bryan as charismatic and good they are don't seem to be a huge draw, although they are somewhat a draw if you put them together. similar to austin and rock. :dawg:

So what exactly is a draw and what does it take to be a draw?

By most fans accounts the 3 biggest draws in wrestling since the Wrestlemania/PPV era are Rock, Hogan, and SCSA.

If you go further back than that people argue for guys like Andre, Bruno Sammartino, Bob Backlund, ect.. because they would draw wherever they went in the days of territories, which is true, but it was a lot harder to measure than it is in the days of TV ratings and PPV buys, merchandise selling, ect.

Simple, a draw is a wrestler that attracts your attention and makes you want to watch the show. Now what makes a draw, probably things like charisma, a good gimmick, star quality, I don't know.

Yeah, but don't different wrestlers attract different crowds? I'm sure Bryan and Punk are draws for the hardcore wrestling fans. But people don't think of them as draws. Or is a draw defined by if they can attract casuals?

No, a draw is the actual definition previously stated. However, it's true, different wrestlers attract different viewers, however, given the fact that the larger percentage of wrestling fans is composed by casuals, if someone appeals to casuals, they'll be a bigger draw than someone who doesn't, because they're attracting more people.

Isn't a draw when the competitors fight, time runs down and they can't decide a winner. Hee hee.
