Remember WCW? The company that nearly ran Vince out of business then ran itself into the ground? Yeah, the faulting of that, along with ECW changed the wrestling business...But it almost didn't happen.
While groggy and drinking my morning coffee, I saw a video of this, a video about Eric Bishoff's attempts to revive the WCW brand. The Big Bang! The video does a way better job explaining, but his idea was to get a group of investors, buy WCW, let it go on hiatus, then have this PPV be its relaunch. But, as we all know, that didn't happen.
This video has made me wonder, what would the landscape of wrestling today be if this happened? Would WCW fail still? If it was successful, would WCW still be on the same level as it was at it's heights? What about WWE/F? Would we still have Ring of Honor? Impact? How would the independent scene be?
Personally, I think if WCW's relaunch went off with a bang, then the whole wrestling landscape would be different. The independent wrestling scene would not be reaching the heights they are at now as there would be two competitors taking the best of the best. So, no ROH most likely (although it was formed more out of the ashes of ECW) IMPACT wouldn't be around. Maybe some of WWE's biggest stars would have never stepped in WWE?
