What does User Groups do?

Just browsing to my account settings and I saw this "Join User Group"... wonder what is groups for? and how can I join one?

You join by simply clicking join.
Groups are private sections where only members in that said group have access to.
You can be in multiple groups.

You can apply for any group, people buy groups for $30, and they get their own sub-forum. Pretty much just a private section where you can post stuff not allowed in public and a cool user title.
