Now that Smackdown IS Jericho, there's alot of new potential for Jericho. Lots of possible feuds, such as with Rey, Punk, Umaga, Edge, and Taker. But with that being said, it's also a pivitol point to see which direction his character will be going in.
On the one hand, now that he's away from the likes on HBK, Triple H, the McMahon, and the legend storyline seems to be over, it'd be a great time for him to go back to his Y2J style, with the comedy, and the one liners, and the flashy look, etc. That could fit well in feuds against guys like Punk and Edge and Jeff Hardy.
But on the other hand, he has his current "angry man" style, which would work great in a feud against a guy like Undertaker, where it's almost like taking out another legend.
Which way do you think jericho's character should go now that he's on SD? For me, I long for the old Chris Jericho. Don't get me wrong, he helped carry Raw over the past year, and his gimmick worked wonders for him, and provided tons of memorable feuds. But I'd love nothing more than to see the return of the Highlight reel, and the Jeritron, and the upbeat personality (all while remaining a heel) that made me like Jericho in the first place. Not to mention I think he could still have an effective feud with Taker even while going back to his old way.
Thoughts?

I honestly think we won't see Y2J back for at least another year. There was a very awkward staredown between he and Edge when he was drafted but I don't think that'll amount to much.
I'm gonna go ahead and say he'll probably start up a feud with Mysterio to garner some interest in the IC title. That'll probably run through Summerslam. HOPEFULLY if all goes well we'll see an Undertaker/Jericho saga pick up in the late fall/early winter and run through to Mania.
Perhaps next year we'll see a return from the old Jericho but I honestly don't see it coming any time soon.
I'm right with ya though, I think this angle has really run it's course for Jericho. Although he's taken his mic skills to new heights and truly shown his depth and ability to play just about any role he's best suited at Y2J.

But to bounce the question back at ya....would you rather see heel Y2J or face Y2J? Upon his return last year I thought the character seemed a bit stretched and forced as a face.

And one more thing...who else wants to sign the "JERICHO PUT YOUR PANTS BACK ON" petition?

I'd much prefer heel Y2J (the actual Y2J that I'm talkign about in this thread). Whether he is heel or face, when he's in the rock n roll mode, and the role he played for most of his career, his character traits are similar. That's one cool thing about Jericho. Aside from his current Mr.Angry gimmick, when he's Y2J, he's the same as a face as he is as a heel, the only different is who he faces. He still throws out the insults, and wrestles the same, and looks the same as heel as he does face, so it's a pretty easy transition for him (again, aside from his current mode). But I prefer it as a heel Y2J. Liek you said, it just seems more natural.
And yes, he needs tights back.

On a side note, dude, you need to keep posting often. When you post, you're one of the best on IWF.

::flattered:: lol. Yeah I've got a pretty brutal work/physical training schedule so I post when I can.

Has anyone else noticed Jericho seems to be slackin on the gym lately? I think perhaps what has gotten me the most about his whole transition into this gimmick is the fact of how much it's altered his in ring style. If you listen to any iterview with Jericho he always states how he had to create such a unique in ring style to make people forget he was smaller and really catch people's attention. Most of that is gone right now.
Single footed "C'MON BABY!" pin FTW!

I'd like to see a return to Y2J, but I just don't see how they could transition it. With the things that Jericho has said and done in his current persona and the impact he's had, it kinda seems like its past the point of no return. Plus I think his current gimmick would suit a feud with pretty much anyone on SD, except for Edge. If Edge turned face it would work, but thats something I'd rather not see.

Perhaps a feud with a guy like Morrison would bring him back to his old ways. A heel vs heel feud, but he could do it so like Morrison is "bringing out the old him". IDK, I'm sure WWE would be able to think of something. If they can't they can always do the old thing where they just have him show up like he was before, and hope we forget. I'll never forget Taker just randomly switching between Biker and Deadman.

Trust me for Jericho it would be fucking seemless.
Someone could say something to him... and he would respond....
"DON'T YOU EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVER, TALK TO ME LIKE THAT"
BAM...instant Y2J transition. And trust me, it would be that easy. People would go ape shit.
BUT, the only thing is that he would need to transition into face Y2J for a few months first. A transition between Honest Jericho and heel Y2J would make no sense.

That's a good point noumenon. Although, if it was something like a 3 way promo when it happened (lol), like him, Edge, and Taker all in one big promo or something, they could have him telling off Edge just how you described, and although that would make the crowd love him at first, it would be easy fo rthem to hate him again, if he them goes off on Taker, you know? So there'd have to be another ehel involved somewhere.

IF Edge eventually turns face then Jericho should defo stay exactly as he is...

As for a Y2J face turn, I hate the way everyone is expected/wanted to turn face/heel every 6 months or so.... Jericho only turned last summer and had just two fueds with this current character and now he's on a show with plenty of job-able faces that for the best part look like a recipe for great matches.

PLUS, cocky, wise-cracking Jerico is not the gimmick to be facing Taker if we're expected to suspend belief (Jericho's would be the smallest guy ever put in a proper program with Taker I believe).

I'll never forget Taker just randomly switching between Biker and Deadman.

When did that happen? ...Correct me if I'm wrong, but as I recall Biker Taker got buried alive by Kane in his match with Vince in late 2003 only to return as The Deadman in time for WM20.

^I agree with Airfixx, Y2J-Undertaker wouldn't work, or at least it wouldn't be anywhere near as good as with the current Jericho. Jericho is still arrogant and smug like his old character but would get under Taker's skin more.

^^^Ideally, Jericho would have the ending of The Streak in his sights too, but I don't see them waiting for Mania.

No, I don't mean when he went from being Biker to Deadman (I know, that's how I phrased it, my bad), I meant when he went from being normal Undertaker, and then when he returned, he was suddenly the Biker version. I don't recall (correct me if I'm wrong) that there was any explaining how he became a Biker, other than he was just being his true self.
Anyways, the whole point was just that in WWE, guys can slip from personality to personality fairly easily without too much questioning, and I think it'd be pretty easy for Jericho to do it. Anyway, that's just a side note, let's not try to get all wound up in it, and stay on Jericho, lol.
With that being said, i can see you like the idea of Jericho feuding with Taker as this Jericho. I guess it just comes down to opinions. Like I said, I just really miss the old Y2J.

Yeah, but WHY change Jericho (other than on the whim of a few fans on the net who'll probably wanna change him again in 6 months)...?

Jericho's current character stands alone on SD... There's more than enough cockyness on the show elsewhere (Edge & Morrison immediately splring to mind).

Well, first off, I think when jericho is Y2J, he has more depth than just an average cocky heel anyway. It's not like a guy who just goes out and says "I'm better than you", his characer has way more depth. Plus, I don't think it's just to make a few fans happy, I just think as a whole it's entertaining. It brings back things like the Highlight Reel, and allows a different perspective on feuds. Not to mention, that's who Jericho is. Right? I mean, the whole current gimmick has been a nice change and all, but Jericho is defined by the other gimmick, I just think after about exactly a year of the grumpy honest man gimmick, I'd like the other Jericho back. That's just my opinion though.

LEFT TURN~~~! :shifty:

But seriously, I think that Jericho can actually team up with Edge and make their own semi-like stable and take over SD! That would be a huge bonus for SD! as Jericho and Edge both of them are well accomplished heels. It would be useless to turn anyone of them face anytime soon. They can benefit from this by having them team up together (like Rated RKO on Raw, we can have now Rated-Jericho!) lol..
