wXw announced today the return of Axel Tischer, the former Alexander Wolfe in WWE.

The company’s Twitter account posted a short video with Tischer training. They announced that he would be part of their 20th anniversary show, which will take place at the Congress Centrum Oberhausen on August 7.

Tischer was released from WWE on May 19th as part of roster cuts across NXT. He was a part of the Imperium stable with Fabian Aichner, Marcel Barthel, and WALTER. The day prior to his release, he was written out of storylines after the rest of Imperium, minus WALTER, attacked him after he was defeated by Killian Dain, who would also later be released.

Prior to signing with WWE, the German-native Tischer was a regular for wXw, winning their Unified World Wrestling Championship once and their Shotgun championship twice. He signed with WWE in 2015 and joined the Sanity stable with Eric Young, Killian Dain, and Nikki Cross. The three men were called up to the main roster, but quickly went nowhere and was disbanded. Wolfe then made his debut for the NXT UK brand and joined Imperium.

Biff Busick will soon be back in action. The former Oney Lorcan was announced today as taking part in wXw's 16 Carat Gold tournament in March 2022.

Busick was released from his WWE contract just yesterday after spending over six years with the company. Busick revealed in a YouTube video that he has a 90-day non-compete clause to wait out before he can return to the ring.

Busick held NXT Tag Team Championship gold from October 2020 to March 2021, before an injury to partner Danny Burch forced the duo to relinquish the titles.

The list of past 16 Carat Gold tournament winners reads like a who's who in terms of international stardom. NXT UK Champion Ilja Dragunov, Zack Sabre Jr., Malakai Black, Chris Hero, Sami Zayn, Sami Callihan, WALTER and IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Shingo Takagi are all past 16 Carat Gold winners.

The 16 Carat Gold will be held from March 4 to March 6, 2022 in Oberhausen, Germany. Jonathan Gresham, Ace Romero and Fuminori Abe have also been announced for the tournament.

wXw 16 Carat Gold is still on my bucket list, but 2022 is not possible. With how the landscape's changed over the last 18 months and probably keep changing, the future tournaments will still be stacked and packed with greatness.
